The greatest gift that anyone can have in this life is a real understanding of their own natal chart and transits.
If this is combined with a similar feel for the astrology of their nearest and dearest, we really cannot ask for more. We have everything we need in order to live a contented, conscious life.
Psychologists will always say you have got to understand someone’s childhood experiences and their interactions with their parents and siblings to be truly able to comprehend their behaviour and life patterns.
Astrology is unquestionably the simplest way to gain this understanding in a truly objective sense, but to get the full picture we need to go much further back than that.
Imagine what it would be like if we had the same insight, not just into this life but into all our past ones as well.
And we could see things from the perspective of our soul’s journey through all of them.
We might be experiencing a particular dynamic with a partner or family member, but if we try to understand it purely from the perspective of this life, we don’t have the all the necessary information.
For astrology to work at all, we have to realise that we have chosen our natal charts. We have also chosen our family members and likely as not, the main relationships in our life and when we will have them.
The first obvious question would be “Who has chosen those things?”
The only conceivable answer to that must be something that some people refer to as their soul, some entity that is them but not just confined to this life, something that has an existence beyond it.
The same would apply for all of those beings who are playing their own roles in our lives.
Consequently agreements with these other souls must have been made beforehand, to meet up this time round in these roles.
The second obvious question is “Why have we all chosen these roles?”
These role agreements for this life have either been deliberately consciously chosen, or are an unconscious inevitable extension of unresolved patterns that come from the past.
My experience and belief is that they are a combination of the two.
That there are patterns that are still in existence from our previous life connections with these people and our souls consciously choose to re-experience them in some form or another to give us more opportunities to learn about our true natures (and those of others) through the playing out of these patterns.
With this knowledge we could adjust our present behaviour to take into account these past interactions with other members of our soul group, but also prepare for and anticipate future life experiences.
This might be incomprehensible to most of us but the fact is this information is now available through a profoundly new understanding of astrology.
It contains the ability to comprehend current life charts along with our past ones through the science of secondary progressions/regressions.
We have to be able to see the whole 360 degree space in our charts not just our current life placements.
We need to comprehend the movement through this space that continues beyond the time defined by our current life birth and death.
We need to understand the relationship between our current life on Earth and that of our soul or essence as symbolised by the Sun.
This is where the unique movement of progressions comes in.
Progressions are calculated by using the daily rotation of the Earth in relation to its yearly path round the Sun. As such they represent the bridge between our life and our soul’s journey and purpose.
Buddhists have an understanding that this life is just one of many.
Arguably the most sophisticated construct for understanding how, when and why these lives will occur is fundamental to the cultural and religious foundation of the highest inhabited country on Earth, Tibet.
If you were to ask people to name one being who they most associate with the idea of reincarnation, it’s likely that most would choose His Holiness, the Dalai Lama.
The 14th Dalai Lama is the Tibetan supreme spiritual ruler of his country, in exile. Some six million Tibetans believe him to be the reborn soul of the Buddha of Compassion, although he always refers to himself as a simple Buddhist monk.
While as souls, we may have the possibility to choose our incarnations, the Dalai Lama is said to be able to consciously do this, even while still in his current one.
Twelve years ago I posted an article Dalai Lama – Been Here Before and another two years ago Don’t Dalai On The Path
Since writing these articles, I have made further breakthroughs in my studies of secondary regressions and past lives.
These show that regressing someone’s chart to the birthdate of an older soulmate will show profound and powerful links, despite the obvious fact that they weren’t even born at the time.
Like all of my discoveries in the field of past lives, this one came to me through meditation on my early morning beach walk. I was also given the example that I had to look at, which was King Charles with his mother Elizabeth.
I wrote up this discovery in The Instantaneous Acceleration Of X And Y
In short, Charles’ chart is dominated by his 10th house Moon at 0.25 Taurus.
This obviously refers to his mother because Queen Elizabeth’s Sun was 0.12 Taurus.
Charles Sun is 22.25 Scorpio.
Elizabeth’s 10th house Saturn is 24.26 Scorpio.
If we progress Elizabeth’s chart to Charles birthdate, her Sun reaches 22.05 Scorpio, exactly opposite her progressed Saturn at 22.50 Scorpio and exactly opposite Charles Sun.
If we regress Charles’ chart to Elizabeth’s birthdate, his Sun reaches 29.48 Libra, which is exactly opposite his Moon and her Sun.
So they have the same progressions/regressions for each other’s birthdate.
Since making this discovery, I have applied it to other famous people and my own past life clients and found this principle works consistently.
So does it work with the Dalai Lama?

If we regress His Holiness’ chart back to the birthdate of his previous incarnation would we see equally powerful connections?
Of course we would.

Taking the 14th Dalai Lama back to the birthdate of the 13th one shows his regressed Moon exactly conjunct his current life Sun (with an orb of 1/3 degree).
His regressed Venus is exactly conjunct his current Mercury.
His regressed Mercury squares his current Venus.
His regressed Ascendant is exactly trine his Moon.
His regressed Mars is square to his current Ascendant (orb less than 1/2 degree).
This regression also reforms aspects that are in his current chart.
The Moon/Neptune conjunction is recreated as a sextile.
The Moon/Saturn opposition becomes a trine.
The Sun/Jupiter trine becomes an opposition.
This is a stunning collection of regressions which powerfully backs up this thesis that secondary regressions can accurately pinpoint reincarnating birthdates.
Can it do it the other way round?
Well duh

If we progress the 13th Dalai Lama’s chart forward to the birth of the 14th one we get equally powerful connections.
His progressed Sun is exactly sextile it’s natal position.
Although we don’t have a birthtime for the 13th, his noon chart progressed Moon is also exactly sextile it’s natal position too.
His progressed Moon is exactly square to his Mercury and it’s likely that any birthtime on that date will give us progressed Moon square to Sun, Mercury or Saturn and likely opposite his Pluto and sextile his Moon as well.
His progressed Mars is exactly opposite his Jupiter (with an orb of 2 minutes).
His progressed Venus is exactly conjunct his noon chart Ascendant.
Again, equally astounding connections.
An important thing to bear in mind is that both Dalai Lamas would identify with the office and the role that continues through successive incarnations, rather than their own individual life.
So they would make decisions not just with the current situation in mind, but with their future life as well.
“The 13th Dalai Lama died in 1933 but predicted before dying: “Very soon in this land (with a harmonious blend of religion and politics) deceptive acts may occur from without and within. At that time, if we do not dare to protect our territory, our spiritual personalities including the Victorious Father and Son (Dalai Lama and Panchen Lama) may be exterminated without trace, the property and authority of our Lakangs (residences of reincarnated lamas) and monks may be taken away. Moreover, our political system, developed by the Three Great Dharma Kings (TriSongtsen Gampo, Tri Songdetsen and Tri Ralpachen) will vanish without anything remaining. The property of all people, high and low, will be seized and the people forced to become slaves. All living beings will have to endure endless days of suffering and will be stricken with fear. Such a time will come.”
He went on to predict the invasion of Tibet and announced that he would die early, in order that his successor would be old enough to act as a leader for the Tibetan people at the time of this invasion.
The 13th Dalai Lama could clearly see the Chinese invasion and probably also realised that he would be in his late 70s at the time and he would either be too old, or his next incarnation would be too young to be able to help his subjects.
His concern that a successor might be too young was probably influenced by recent experience.
According to Thubten Jigme Norbu, the elder brother of the 14th Dalai Lama,
“It is perhaps more than a coincidence that between the seventh and the thirteenth holders of that office, only one reached his majority.
The eighth, Gyampal Gyatso, died when he was in his thirties, Lungtog Gyatso when he was eleven, Tsultrim Gyatso at eighteen, Khadrup Gyatso when he was eighteen also, and Krinla Gyatso at about the same age.
The circumstances are such that it is very likely that some, if not all, were poisoned, either by loyal Tibetans for being Chinese-appointed impostors, or by the Chinese for not being properly manageable.
Many Tibetans think that this was done at the time when the young [Dalai Lama] made his ritual visit to the Lake Lhamtso. … Each of the four [Dalai Lamas] to die young expired shortly after his visit to the lake.
Many said it was because they were not the true reincarnations, but imposters imposed by the Chinese. Others tell stories of how the cooks of the retinue, which in those days included many Chinese, were bribed to put poison in the [Dalai Lama’s] food.
The 13th [Dalai Lama] did not visit Lhamtso until he was 25 years old. He was adequately prepared by spiritual exercise and he also had faithful cooks. The Chinese were disappointed when he did not die like his predecessors, and he was to live long enough to give them much more cause for regret”
Given these background circumstances, you would be wary of Chinese manipulation of a young Dalai Lama.
So the 13th Dalai Lama decided to terminate his particular incarnation before his allotted time in order to make life easier for his successor, who was born a couple of years later to give him a chance to help his people and country deal with the inevitable.
This is an extraordinary conscious use of reincarnation for a particular end, with an immense personal sacrifice for the sake of his religion and his people.
If we use my recently discovered technique of secondary regressions and take the current Dalai Lama’s chart backwards, we find that two years before he was born his regressed Sun was exactly trine his 9th house Saturn.

So we can see a clear connection to the main theme of his life here. The voluntary early death of the 13th Dalai Lama created the conditions for the 14th to be old enough to escape the Chinese and to preserve the religious traditions in such a way as to enable Tibetan Buddhism to spread widely around the world.
The Sun trine a 9th house Saturn and sextile a 3rd house Moon and Neptune does exactly that, and none of these things could have happened if his predecessor had not made that decision in 1933.
We could regress the Dalai Lama’s chart back another 365 years and we still wouldn’t find such an aspect. It is a powerful advocate for the secondary regressions method that I have discovered.”
But how did that decision to die early look from the 13th Dalai Lama’s perspective?
Where did his insight about the Chinese invasion come from?
Did he see the need for his successor to escape Tibet in order to avoid capture, imprisonment or even death along with the likely installation of a Chinese puppet Dalai Lama figure, just like they eventually did with the Panchen Lama?

If the threat of the Chinese invasion of Tibet and the need to escape over the Himalayas is anywhere in the 13th Dalai Lama’s chart it is in the Sun’s opposition to Uranus on the noon chart 4th house cusp.
His successor left Tibet for the dangerous passage over the Himalayas on foot on March 17th 1959.
If we progress the 13th’s chart to this date we get this.
The progressed Sun is exactly square to Uranus.
The progressed Ascendant is exactly conjunct it (3 minute orb).
We have to take into account that although it happened 26 years after he died, this is the first major progressed aspect between the Sun and Uranus that could have occurred since the 13th Dalai Lama was born.
If he had lived to 1959, he would have been 83 years old and unable to make the journey, therefore he would have been at the mercy of the Chinese who would have no doubt used his death to install a 14th Dalai Lama of their own choice.
He was obviously able to tap into this karmic pattern, that we are fortunately able to see with the aid of secondary progressions.
By choosing to die at the age of 57, he enabled his successor to reach the age of 23 at the time of his exile, thus making it possible for the Dalai Lama to maintain independence and to keep the Tibetan Buddhist religion alive and to eventually bring it to a global audience.
It is probably due to the 14th Dalai Lama being alive and well in Dharamsala and free to travel the world with his teachings that has prevented the Chinese from completely destroying Tibetan culture and their religion.
If the 13th had not sacrificed his incarnation in this way, that would have been the likely result and with it effectively the end of all of his future possible incarnations.
This type of thing has probably happened many times before in the Tibetan lineage but it is the only one that is widely known about.
The fact that it is so perfectly picked out by the 13th’s progressions and the 14th’s regressions, is an enormous testimony to this astrological method being the key to understanding the connections between past and future lives.
We can use this method, not only to come to an understanding of our past lifetimes and their impact on our current life and relationships but also to help consciously direct our futures, both in this life and the ones to come.
