Who Was Marilyn’s Munro ?

Anyone reading this article will know that astrology works explicitly and powerfully. They have already seen so many examples of that in these articles that they don’t need convincing any more. The only question left would be why does it work.

Why do some people have Venus / Jupiter trines and others have Mars / Pluto oppositions ?

Just dismissing it as pure chance does not cut it, as astrology shows there is no such thing.

If we come into this life with some kind of symbolic future already mapped out, that means there must have been something that existed before in order to generate that future path.

Some kind of agreement has been made about the conditions that we are to face win this lifetime.

Given that assumption, it also makes sense that some part of ourselves that is separate from this life must have been involved in the choosing of it.

Whether it is automatically generated from the leftover patterns of a previous experience or life, or an agreement to take these astrological themes and run with them, we have on some level created all this for ourselves.

As these patterns that our astrology demands that we experience in this life also involves other people, it must mean that parts of these beings ( call them souls if you like ) were also included in these choices.

So the logical conclusion is that we are tied to these people, that we have already agreed that they will make an appearance in our lives at some point to help us experience the themes that are identified by our charts.

Whether this is simply generated by our past life experiences with the same souls or whether we have made a deliberate choice to do that, we can’t be sure.

But progressed soulmate synastry is teaching us that these moments when important members of our soul group do arrive to help us with these experiences can be predicted.

What type of people they are has already been decided. We can see that by looking at the natal chart and particularly the 7th house.

The 7th is the house of marriage and relationships generally.

If you have personal planets there ( Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus or Mars ) this house takes on a larger than average significance in your life and you will have to express that symbolic energy in your relationships.

If you have impersonal planets there ( Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune or Pluto ), these are likely to describe the kind of experiences and people you would attract through relationships.

If they form aspect patterns with other planets this will show how these people and experiences impact on your life overall.

One person whose life was dominated by them was film goddess, Marilyn Monroe.

Marilyn had the Moon in the 7th house. This means that she would have a strong need for security and would look to find that through her relationships.

The Moon being in Aquarius might mean that she was looking ultimately for friendship and an intellectually equal partnership.

With Aquarius also on the 7th cusp, she could get involved with political figures.

With Jupiter there, they would be very powerful men.

The fact that Marilyn’s Moon forms a T square with an opposition to Neptune and as square to an apex Saturn, means she will experience considerable loss, frustration and deception through these relationships.

The fact that it’s a tight T square ( within 3 degrees ) makes the experience even more volatile.

The inclusion of Neptune as 8th house ruler together with Mars and Uranus in that house indicates that her relationships contributed to her drug taking and her death.

Marilyn Monroe had relationships with many Jupiterean men.

She was married three times, to classmate Jim Dougherty, baseball Joe Di Maggio and playwright Arthur Miller.

She allegedly had affairs with Charlie Chaplin Jr ( and his brother Sydney ), Milton Berle, Elia Kazan, Marlon Brando, Frank Sinatra, Jerry Lewis, John F Kennedy and his brother Robert.

There were even rumours about lesbian affairs with Natasha Lytess, Barbara Stanwyck and Marlene Dietrich.

Is it possible to use Marilyn’s progressions to make sense of all this and try and identify which of these people might have been her true soulmates ?

It’s important to qualify this by saying that a soulmate doesn’t have to be someone in a love relationship, or even involved in that person’s life for a significant length of time.

A soulmate is someone who comes into their life specifically in order to help them receive the themes that they have incarnated to experience.

Marilyn married schoolfriend James Dougherty aged 16 in 1942.

This immediately hits the spot as her progressed Sun was trine her 7th house Jupiter in 1942 – 43.

Marilyn was Dougherty’s ideal type.

This is clear from his Descendant being exactly conjunct her Sun.

His Sun is also conjunct her Venus.

James’ Sun is also conjunct the South Node which is exactly on Marilyn’s Venus.

Also he has a 7th house Moon T square all of his own.

This one engages with Saturn in the 9th house.

Jupiter is there too as part of another very tight Square involving Uranus and a Sagittarius Ascendant showing that he had to join the Marines.

In a later autobiography, he laughingly claimed that if he hadn’t joined up, Marilyn would still be Mrs Dougherty to this day.

Never happening, not even in a parallel Universe.

They married with James progressed Sun conjunct his Mars.

While he was away Marilyn took up modelling, both things can be indicated by her progressed Sun being sextile her 9th house Aries Venus in 1944 – 45.

They divorced in 1946 with Marilyn’s progressed Venus in the T square opposite Saturn and square to Neptune.

For James his progressed Venus was sesquiquadrate both his Ascendant and Jupiter releasing the tension of the other T square.

His progressed Mercury was also conjunct his Mars when they divorced.

The next progression of significance was Venus square to her 7th house Jupiter in 1950 – 51.

Although they did not form a relationship at the time, she first met Arthur Miller in 1950, reconnecting in 1955 and marrying in 1956 when her progressed Mars was sextile her Sun.

In between time, she met Joe DiMaggio in 1952 when her progressed Venus was sextile Uranus.

The baseball giant had a Sun, Venus, Mars, Ascendant conjunction in Sagittarius.

His love life was far more complicated though as a tight Saturn / Pluto conjunction in the 7th house suggests.

Their synastry was again strong but not easy.

Marilyn’s Gemini Sun was opposite Joe’s Sagittarius grouping and exactly opposing his Mars.

His Moon was square her Sun.

Her Moon was conjunct his Jupiter, hence the attraction but that just put him into her T square.

It’s likely that Marilyn was the love of Joe’s life because the progressed Venus was conjunct his Ascendant and Sun when they married in 1954.

However they divorced in the same year because Joe was unable to cope with her fame.

As with her divorce in 1946, Marilyn’s T square was being triggered this time too with her progressed Sun semisquare her Neptune and sesquiquadrate her Saturn.

Arthur Miller has his 7th house ruler, Mars as part of a wide T Square including the square to an apex Venus in Scorpio.

His Moon at 16 Aquarius is conjunct Marilyn’s own and so he plugs right into her own T Square.

Intriguingly this synastry was strongly triggered when Arthur first met Marilyn when his progressed Venus was sextile his Moon.

They married 5 years later when his progressed Venus was sextile his Sun.

Marilyn and Arthur divorced in January 1961 with her progressed Sun conjunct Pluto.

There was always much talk about an affair with JFK.

Their synastry is very strong.

Jack’s Sun / Venus is conjunct Marilyn’s Sun.

His Ascendant is exactly trine her 7th house Moon.

His Mars is square her Moon.

Her Mars is opposite his Moon.

It’s difficult to use progressions to check where this relationship sits in Marilyn’s soulmate story because we don’t know for sure if and when it started.

However it is interesting to note that John F Kennedy had no significant progressions when he married Jackie Bouvier but had progressed Mars conjunct his Venus in 1956 – 57 which is near when the rumours seem to point to an affair with Marilyn.

The one thing you can depend on in this area is that when the progressed Venus makes a conjunction with the Sun ( or the other way round ), a significant soulmate will make an appearance.

This happened for Marilyn in 1962 the year that she died.

JFK’s brother Bobby had some very powerful 7th house themes of his own.

His Sun and Saturn in that house together with Mars in Scorpio opposite his Ascendant and forming a widish T Square with his 10th house Moon.

He also had a tight opposition between Venus and Pluto.

Marilyn’s Venus is exactly square to Bobby’s Moon.

Marilyn’s 7th house Jupiter is closely square to Bobby’s 7th house Sun.

The tragic nature of their affair was shown by the fact that her 8th house Mars is tightly square to his 8th house Mercury.

For the year he married Ethel Skakel ( 1950 ) there were no significant progressions.

For his brief and tragic alleged affair with Marilyn in 1962, Bobby’s progressed Sun was sextile his 7th house Mars.

His progressed Venus was also square his 7th house Saturn.

His progressed Mars was sesquiquadrate his Pluto.

All of the difficult natal 7th house themes came together, each one for the only time in his life.

In Scotland a munro is a mountain over 3,000 ft. There are about 280 of them. People who climb them are called munro baggers.

It seems there are about 280 people who claimed to be Marilyn Monroe baggers, but if we use progressed soulmate synastry to scale her own peak, we find Bobby Kennedy sitting at the top.
