It’s been a while since I’ve done a good murder.
I’m always on the lookout for them but I like to find an astrological angle that hasn’t been plundered before.
There will surely be some point in the future where AI will simply generate a TV script from the chart of a moment and we will be all glued to it because it captures the zeitgeist perfectly.
No doubt we will be deluged with with Agatha Christie type murder mysteries with 4th sign themes because nothing describes a leafy English backwater village better than the Sun and Moon in Cancer.
I could imagine post graduate theses being written on the sign’s role in the TV sitcom genre. Dad’s Army springs to mind where the chart is dominated by a conjunction between Saturn ( old ) and Mars ( soldiers ) defending Warmington on Sea ( in Cancer ).
So I was intrigued by a trailer for the current TV series, The Sixth Commandment.
Being in Australia I haven’t had the chance to watch it yet but I could still tell you what it’s about just by looking at the chart for its first showing.
It instantly looks like a Miss Marple whodunnit.

The Sun and Moon in Cancer in the 7th house opposite Pluto instantly screams murder, an innocent partnership situation that has been viciously abused.
Mars in Virgo opposite Saturn in Pisces points to a classic repressed sexual theme, probably involving the same kind of old people who valiantly defied Hitler in Dad’s Army.
Of course any good murder chart requires a Yod ( the 150 degree angle is associated with death ).
So this Finger Of God involves Pluto ( naturally ), Neptune and an apex Venus.
Neptune also being in aspect to the Sun and Moon would point to the murder weapon ( poison ).
But the Sixth Commandment isn’t just some astro computer generated random gorefest, it’s a true life crime drama based on an actual murder.
For anyone else like me who hasn’t actually seen it, I will copy in a description of the plot.
Two elderly religious residents of the village of Maids Moreton in Buckinghamshire were ” duped into fake relationships with the local churchwarden as part of a plot to get them to change their wills so he could extort money from them.”
The murder victim, Peter Farquhar, was an evangelical Christian who once considered becoming a minister.
Farquhar was a University lecturer and published author ( probably indicated by Mercury in Leo square to a 3rd house Jupiter in the above chart ).
” His first novel, A Wide Wide Sea, was a coming-of-age story about three teenagers on a voyage of self-discovery. It was only published after two students, Ben Field and Martyn Smith, discovered the manuscript and persuaded Farquhar to publish it. The plot was largely based on Farquhar’s experience at Stowe School and concerned the struggle of a school chaplain to reconcile his Christian faith with his homosexuality.
Field was found guilty of murdering Farquhar for financial gain after tricking him into changing his will. Field, who was 28 when he was charged with the murder, manipulated 69-year-old Farquhar and tried to make his death look like an accident or suicide.
During the trial it was heard that Field subjected Farquhar to coercive control and carried out a sustained gaslighting plot aimed at making Farquhar question his sanity,
Field admitted to spiking Farquhar’s drinks with alcohol and laced his food with drugs to “torment” him. This was discovered when police began investigating and exhumed Farquhar’s body for testing.
Field had also undergone a “betrothal” ceremony with Farquhar. Farquhar, a devout baptist, had been equivocal over his sexuality due to his religion.
All while having a relationship with the former lecturer, Field had a string of girlfriends and was in a sexual relationship with Mr Farquhar’s neighbour, Ann Moore-Martin who was 57 years his senior.
Over a two-year period, Field drugged the university lecturer and encouraged him to drink alcohol – a deadly combination that made him believe he was losing his mind.
The evil convicted killer started to torture his vulnerable victim as their relationship intensified.
He started off by intentionally deleting Farquhar’s mobile phone contacts – making him think he had done this himself, exactly what the crazy killer desired.
Farquhar sought medical advice but doctors couldn’t figure out what was wrong with the pensioner.
He was admitted into hospital one month after Field moved in, after mixing sleeping tablets with gin.
Staff initially suspected an overdose, but Field had spiked him.
Farquhar died on 26 October 2015. His death was recorded as accidental as the result of acute alcohol intoxication although Field had actually suffocated him when he was too weak to resist.
On 9 August 2019, Benjamin Field was convicted of his murder and was sentenced to life imprisonment on 19 October. “
So we’ve seen the horrific astrology of the TV adaptation, the real thing was even worse.

A Sun / Moon conjunction in Capricorn is a perfect depiction of a conventional, upstanding figure in the community.
But as we all know while the signs can give an insight into basic character, it’s the aspects that determine how their life plays out.
And Peter Farquhar’s were horrible.
Just like the TV chart, the Sun and Moon are closely conjunct but he was born right on an eclipse.
There is also a Yod involving Pluto, this time featuring Uranus rather than the TV Neptune and this one is focused on the apex eclipsed lights.
Neptune is aspecting the Sun and Moon in both charts, this one in a difficult square.
And the repressed sexuality Mars / Saturn theme is there too in Cancer.
You could almost see Captain Mainwaring in this chart, or at least you could if he was receiving Corporal Jones’ bayonet up his backside every week.
When any chart contains such a lethal aspect between the lights and Pluto you would have to be expecting the very worst when that acquaintance is renewed by transit.
As it was for Peter Farquhar’s murder in 2015 with Pluto exactly conjunct his Sun and Moon.

Pluto is also at the apex of a T square on the day of the murder, involving Mercury, the Moon and Uranus.
There’s another crucial 150 degree aspect between the aggressive Moon / Uranus in Aries and the naive, innocent Mars / Venus / Jupiter in Virgo.
Unfortunately I can’t find a date of birth for Anne Moore Martin. All we know is she was born in 1934 but that simple fact gives us a lot.
Throughout the whole year, Uranus and Pluto were in tight square aspect with the latter at 23 / 24 Cancer, right on the Sun and Moon of the TV show.
It also comes as no surprise that the Uranus / Pluto square was recreated when she first met Ben Field, just a month after he’d murdered her neighbour.
If I was to hazard a guess, I’d suggest an Autumn birth date giving Ann something like Venus in Libra opposite that Uranus and T square to the apex Pluto.
And the murderer ?
We only have a birth month for Ben Field but that’s not a problem.
It may have taken the local plod a couple of years to finger the villain, but for your very own astro Miss Carple, that would be two minutes with an ephemeris for March 1991.

The whole churchwarden, deception theme has to be Pisces, probably 12th house as well.
The would be vicar with a 9th house Sagittarian Moon who’s obviously not too hung up on any particular kind of sexual expression so an opposition with a Gemini Mars would come in handy.
And the tight T square to an apex Pisces Sun turns him into the Buckinghamshire Poisoner.
And there’s another Yod.
Venus in Aries and Mars in Gemini focused onto an apex Pluto in Scorpio in the 8th house.
Tea with this particular vicar is a bit short on the cake but it makes up for that with plenty of sex and death.
The Finger Of God moves in a mysterious way it seems.
Constantly when I look into the astrology of everyday stuff I’m left thinking you really could not make this stuff up.
Or maybe you could…
