Whenever there are mysterious circumstances surrounding someone’s life or death it’s likely that Neptune would be involved. It certainly was in the case of Jonathan Corey.
Corey was an American student who became a missing person in January 2002. Jon took a canoe out onto Puget Sound. About an hour later, he spoke to a friend on his cell phone and was fine. He has not been seen or heard from since then, though his canoe, boots and life jacket were found washed up on shore. He had called a friend to say he’d made it across ok but then he didn’t turn up for class. No resolution has been found.
The police weren’t certain he drowned, though that “would be a logical assumption.”
Its often the case when someone whose life is clearly dominated by a single event, their chart is a description of that event. Jonathan Corey had the Sun in Sagittarius, Moon in Aries and Leo rising. Immediately we get the picture of an extrovert action man type who is quite likely to be a kind of solo adventurer.
The Sun is in the 4th house however indicating that the area of exploration is close to home which is true as the canoe trip was near to his college. The Sun is conjunct Neptune indicating both the watery nature of the trip and also the mysterious disappearance.
The Moon is in the 8th house of death in opposition to Saturn. Neptune is also the ruler of his 8th house. The chart seems to be suggesting that the police’s logical assumption was the correct one.
The final word of course would come from the timing of the event. Pluto was conjunct his Sun in 2001 – 2 when he disappeared. Jonathan Corey’s disappearance was a Neptunian mystery that was sadly fairly easily solved.
