Rosanna Benzi – How to deal with a Mars / Saturn / Pluto conjunction

Rosanna Benzi

Rosanna Benzi suffered from an acute form of polio which caused her to have quadriplegia and severe respiratory failure and forced her to spend the rest of her life in a iron lung.

She founded and edited a magazine “The Others”, which launched some major campaigns to raise awareness of the issues of disability and social exclusion. Her positive outlook despite her condition was praised by Pope John XXIII.

The Sun in Benzi’s chart is in the 6th house of health showing the central focus of her life, but it is in square aspect to a very difficult Mars / Saturn / Pluto conjunction. This would indicate a sudden unexpected event ( Pluto ) which would severely restrict ( Saturn ) her ability to move ( Mars ).

She has the Moon in Gemini which shows her strong desire to communicate with others despite her condition. Gemini rules movement but also the respiratory system and the lungs. Rosanna Benzi suffered the attack and was placed in the iron lung in 1962 with Pluto in square to her Moon.

The only other major transit of Benzi’s life was when Pluto was opposite her Sun in 1991 when she died.

Rosanna Benzi spend most of her life under severe restraint, her positive outlook was a testimony and an example to us all.
