It’s sadly ironic that the most famous astrologer that ever lived has done more to bring the subject into disrepute than any other before or since.
Not intentionally of course. We cannot accuse Michel de Nostradamus of anything of the sort but the claims made on his behalf by his adherents have left astrology open to ridicule.
These people are either vacuous airheads whose capacity to believe the most absurd notions trump even the most ardent Q’Anon follower. Or they are con artists looking to persuade potential clients that they too possess such incredible gifts of prophecy simply because they bring these so called predictions to their attention.
If someone in the Middle Ages foretells that a great king will be killed by a commoner this does not mean that he accurately predicted the Assassination of John F Kennedy over 400 years later.
And even if Nostradamus had given the actual place and date of this fateful occurrence together with the full names of all involved, this would not mean it has anything to do with astrology.
Astrology is a predictive science. It has nothing to do with any psychic qualities that individuals may or may not possess.
It is based on the exact movements of planets and the new angles that they make to the places where they were when an individual was born.

Any astrologer worth his or her salt would have looked at the chart of the new born prince and understood that at some point in his life he would be involved in events that would cause an earth shattering transformation that would powerfully change how he was seen by the public ( Pluto 1st house ) and how his family and his inheritance were perceived ( Sun in 4th house ).
A quick look at an ephemeris would tell you that this event would occur between 1992 and 1993 when the transit Pluto reached his natal Sun’s Zodiac position 22 Scorpio.
Many astrologers like to feel they have intuitive faculties. This can be true to a degree because years of looking at charts and watching the correspondences in people’s actual lives can give you a feeling as to how these things are likely to play out.
The fact that he has a Venus / Neptune conjunction in Libra in the 4th house also suggests that he has an idealised, romantic notion of what love should be which might not fit that well with his family’s requirements.
Given that Charles’ Sun is on the cusp of the 5th house and his age at the time, it would be quite possible to predict that this almighty hoo hah would come about as a result of an affair of the heart.
Readers will know that 1992 was the Queen’s annus horribilis when the news of Charles’ affair with Camilla broke and the Pluto transit caused him to separate from Princess Diana.
This much was absolutely predictable back in 1948 using astrology. It was absolutely not in 1548 because Charles would not be born for 400 years so there is no way of knowing what his birthchart would look like.
Anyone claiming to have predicted it before Charles was born is either a liar or a psychic ( sometimes it is a very fine line ) but they were not using astrology.
In the last couple of weeks we have heard a lot of absurd things about the British monarchy, some of it sycophantic and indulgent, some of it simply racist but most of it understandable as part of an outpouring of grief for the loss of someone whose very existence marked a point of stability and security in people’s lives.
But by far the most ridiculous thing was that Nostradamus apparently predicted the exact date of Queen Elizabeth’s death, 8th September 2022.
Isn’t it amazing that while this event was predicted back in the mid 1550s, the first we get to hear about it is, yes, you guessed it 8th September 2022.

It’s unlikely that many astrologers spent those spring days of 1926 wondering when the new baby third in line to the throne would die, or even whether she would accede to the throne at all.
If they did, they would probably put it down to Saturn, because at the apex of Liz’s T square right on the Midheaven, it would always have a dominant role to play in both her personality and life.
Saturn would transit through her T Square every 7 years and any one of the last three of these could have realistically seen her off.
Given that Saturn was going to be transiting through Aquarius conjunct her Mars / Jupiter opposite her Neptune and square its own natal position throughout 2022, it would be a pretty fair to predict her death this year.
Given that there was a lunar eclipse in May involving that Saturn and another one in November it is also reasonable to assume that her death would occur sometime during that period.
Perhaps it would also be fair to believe that the transit Moon could also be involved in conjunction with Saturn in Aquarius. This would leave us 5 or 6 possible dates.
As it turned out the Moon was exactly conjunct Saturn at 20 Aquarius ( right on her 1st house Mars ) at the time of her death.
So as it turned out, once Saturn had left Scorpio in 2015, it would be quite possible using this method to accurately predict the date of the Queen’s death.
All that would be needed was to post 6 different dates and when she passed just repost the one that worked.
But, in case I have to point out the obvious yet again, Nostradamus did not use astrology to predict this event back in the mid 16th century.
His followers ( no doubt some of whom will contest the whole premise of this article with me ) were so buoyed by this non prediction that they have already installed Prince Harry as the next King.
Apparently Nostradamus said –
” Because they disapproved of his divorce
A man, who, later, they considered unworthy
The people will force out the King of the Islands
A man will replace him who never expected to be king. “
Its fairly likely that Nostradamus was referring to some ruler somewhere in the 2nd half of the 16th century. We will never know that because yet again no time, date or actual place, no names were given but that simple fact doesn’t deter the charlatans.
They are sure that this refers to Charles III of the UK abdicating 470 odd years later and passing the throne to the person 5th in line to succeed, even with the reasonable doubts that exist around whether Charles is Harry’s biological father and despite the fact that the young man has buggered off to the US calling out his family’s racism and saying to all concerned that he no longer wants to be a part of it.
Maybe I am going out on a limb here when I state quite categorically that we are not about to have a King Harry IX.
But perhaps somewhere in a parallel Universe there will be a Harry the Ninth ruling over some islands somewhere at some point in the future.
And no doubt the followers of Nostradamus will be queuing up to prove that I was wrong.
My advice to these people is not to try and emulate their hero and make predictions for the future. Just wait until something happens and then claim to have predicted it.
Maybe Nostradamus also wrote as a postscript to his prophecies ” Of course you dumbarses won’t understand or even hear of my predictions until after the events have actually happened “
Because he would have known that fact for sure.
