About 40 years ago a local band that I followed always opened the shows with a song called Weatherman.
The refrain was “You don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows”.
It always struck me as very true. Any decent astrologer would know. We get enough pointers after all.
In a year’s time the next President of the United States will be elected. This is such an important stage in the history of this democracy. The next one could even be the last elected one.
What will happen?
Most astrologers reckon it has something to do with Pluto moving signs from Capricorn to Aquarius, but what that actually means, no one is sure of.
And yet by the end of January we probably already have all the clues we need.
Eight years ago we were in a similar position. I had already bet on Donald Trump to win in November 2016 (18 months earlier when the odds were 40/1 against) because both his transits and progressions were unstoppable and I know which way the wind blows.
I was also looking at the charts for the opening of polls to see if they indicate the winner. As it turns out they do having picked the US President right every time since 1960, apart from Trump as it turns out. Anyone interested in trawling through all this can read the piece I wrote back then – US Presidential Elections
The reason for mentioning it here is revealed in a quote from that article.
“There is a little village in New Hampshire where there are only 10 registered voters. At one minute after midnight on polling day, these good souls register their vote and the polls are immediately closed. This is therefore the start of polling and the moment to cast a chart for the election itself. The place where such a momentous event begins is bizarrely and some might say appropriately called Dixville Notch.”
So it seems that a tiny village in NH can be used as a barometer for the election itself. Which seems very fitting as the Primary Season has just got started, but this week the wind in New Hampshire has already seemingly whittled it down to the same two old farts that fought the last one.
This is because there is a Full Moon in Aquarius/Leo within range of Pluto.
A Pluto transit will be in operation for 2-3 years. It’s effects can occur at any time within that period, but other planets moving around the same degree can act as short term triggers for this transit.
This would be particularly true in the case of eclipses or full moons because the job of these is to suddenly draw out and expose energies that are hidden beneath the surface.
The New Hampshire primary occurring in the week leading up to a Full Moon with the Sun conjunct Pluto was always going to give us a powerful insight on what to expect over the next year.

President Joe Biden has Pluto in his 8th house in square to his Moon.
Transit Pluto will be square to that Moon this year from the other side of his chart. It is for this reason that I felt that he might not even reach the November election still in office.
Pluto will always bring a powerful life turning point change, particularly if it is reinforcing a natal relationship. A transit of this sort can suddenly and unexpectedly propel one into power, like it did for Margaret Thatcher in 1979, but if they are already in the top job, there is only one way to go.
On top of that, Biden has his Sun opposite Uranus. This transit is also about to be reinforced by a Uranus Return.
Given that this happens to everyone when they are 84 years old, you would think that the Democrats might think its time for a new candidate.

Dean Phillips has come from nowhere but given that Pluto is now conjunct his Sun and it has a favourable trine aspect at birth, he would seem to be just that candidate.
He is a centrist Democrat and only in his late 50s, so you’d think he would be the perfect choice, but the Full Moon and the fact that transit Saturn is conjunct his Moon, it appears that he has already been booted into touch.
All these happenings inevitably bring up the question of fate versus free will.
Do we have choice over our astrology or do things have to happen in a certain way?
If we are conscious and operating with our astrology in mind, we certainly do have some choice. We can use the energies of the moment to move things in the way we would wish to.
The whole world of Electional Astrology opens this up for us.
But as individuals we have more freedom of choice.
The more people who are impacted by our decisions, the more their own fated experience has to be taken into account. And to expect millions of Americans (or even ten dicks from Notchville) to make a conscious decision for the benefit of humanity as a whole is a tall order.
Joe Biden wasn’t even on the ticket for New Hampshire. This really was Dean Phillips’ chance to show he was a serious contender, but he was swamped by write ins, presumably from the state’s many other old Joes.
So it’s looking likely that Pluto conjunct Phillips’ Sun is just giving him his 15 minutes of fame. His only hope is if Biden drops dead between now and November (which is still quite conceivable).
Or maybe Sleepy Joe will adopt the same policy that he did in 2020 and choose a running mate with Pluto transits to get him over the line.
Kamala Harris had Pluto square her Sun and Moon when she became Vice President. Indeed it was this that persuaded me to believe that she could have taken over as No 1, owing to Biden becoming ill or being assassinated.
What is looking increasingly likely is that Vice President was Harris’ peak, but if Joe Biden persists in his vain attempt to hang onto the Presidency in the face of Pluto and Uranus, then his best path is to dump Kamala and replace her with Dean Phillips.
Over on the red side of the state we have a similar situation that has also become much clearer with this Full Moon.
Donald Trump’s chart has appeared so often on these pages that it has become frayed at the edges and is held together by one giant nativity nappy, much like its owner. So I won’t offend my readers sensibilities by putting it in again here.
Instead I will give a nod to the two munchkins who tried to steal his sackful of shit.

Ron DeFunctis has Mercury conjunct Saturn in Virgo. It is also, like Trump’s square to Neptune. This basically means he’s a lying little toe rag but it also means that when Saturn comes to oppose his Mercury by transit, he will realise that the game is over and give up.
Which was this week.

Nikki Halo, who has been campaigning on the basis that she is just like Trump but 25 years younger and with a couple of extra brain cells.
With the Sun right at the end of Capricorn, Haley is also having her Pluto moment.
Like Phillips, she has the two in trine nataly. She also has Saturn forming a Grand Trine which with Pluto’s transit, you would think would be enough to beat Joe Biden hands down in November.
But also like Phillips, it looks like the Full Moon falling opposite her Sun and Saturn on her Venus has derailed her campaign at the earliest opportunity.
Haley is pinning her hopes on a strong showing in her home state primary which comes up next, perhaps forgetting that her main strength as a candidate is that most people don’t have a clue who she is, and the people of South Carolina obviously do…..
Trump has forgotten who she is already and lumped her in with Hilary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi, presumably on the grounds that she is a woman.
But if Trump had any sense (duh!) he would learn from Biden and pick Haley as a running mate to bring her Pluto transit into his arsenal for November.
We don’t have birth times for De Santis, Phillips or Haley, which should really bar them from running in the first place.
If Haley was born before 6 pm should would have a Capricorn Sun, and consequently her Pluto transits come to an end with the November election.
So it maybe that this Presidential campaign was her peak, rather like landing the VP job was for Kamala Harris.
The cold wind brought by the Full Moon has given both its January natives a severe chill. Whether there is more to come from them as the year progresses is up to Pluto.
