Statistical Proof of a Planet in Signs Effect

The critics will say that there is no proof of astrology. Any research that has been done has come up against statistical testing models that show there is no concrete evidence of a link between planetary movements and human behaviour.

The test is the “ p “ figure, a number that can be calculated based on the size of the sample and variation of the results compared to the expected distribution.

It is a well understood statistical fact that for a piece of research to be considered statistically significant, it needs to have a resulting “ p “ figure of less than 0.01.  Basically the more noughts and decimal places the better.

Capricorn Research has been looking into astrology for over 35 years. Over this time it was realised that the reason so many research projects have come up short was to do with having sample sizes that were too small to produce compelling evidence.

As a result, a decision was taken to do research on a grand scale, using every chart published on the astrodatabank website between the spring of 2010 and 2013.

This research has yielded a vast amount of astrological data that I have been slowly writing up on my website.

This article is simply to list the various groups which have produced astrological results by planets in signs which beat the “ p “ challenge, i.e they score less than 0.01.

By way of explanation a “ p “ figure with an E – shows the number of noughts in the result. Therefore 4.00 E – 30 means 0.000000000000000000000000000004.

The lists show the sample size with the planet concerned and the sign that scores highest together with the p figure for the planet’s distribution in that sample.

The list in order is as follows.

1.   18967  High Achievers   Venus  Aquarius   4.00 E – 63

Thats 76 different projects that prove a statistical link, simply based on the sign and positions mostly of the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars.

I have almost as many distributions by house that show links with similar scores but have left them out of this article for simplicity.

The same research has produced at least as many angular aspects between the planets that are statistically proven, but I have not yet been able to calculate a corresponding ‘ p ‘ figure for these distributions.

As you can see, its impressive, sceptics may try to explain away some of these figures but I’d like to see them try with all of them.

  1. I love that your research challenges some of the long held traditional interpretations of many of these placements. I have Moon in Capricorn and Sun & Mercury in Pisces. w Mars in Cancer. I have a BA in Political Science and am currently pursuing my MS in Psychology. I’d like to think I’m a Thinker and Achiever as well, I’d certainly like to be 🙂

    • Thanks for the message. I feel that astrology has been hijacked by the Sun sign horoscope columns and far too much emphasis is placed on these signs rather than the total picture.
Hopefully some of my research can challenge some of these assumptions.
