Its unlikely many astrologers would agree, but every planetary delineation we make is based on statistics. Our observations only have relevance when an assessment is made about the likelihood of the placement coming up by chance.
I have often heard someone claiming to be an astrologer making a definite statement about the character of a person because they have Pluto in Scorpio.
They fail to recognise that so does everyone in the world born in the years between 1983 and 1995.
Any astrological observation can only make sense when the frequency of that placement occurring is understood.
If we say someone with the Sun in Aries is a pioneer, with an assertive, competitive nature, this acquires relevance because 11/12ths of the population do not have it.
Sun sign frequency is obvious but how many of us have a real grasp of how often particular aspect patterns occur ?
If you were to ask astrologers what would be the most violent and difficult pattern known to man, there’s a fair bet that many would say a Fixed Grand Cross including a personal planet and Mars, Saturn and Pluto.
But how often has that actually come up in practice ?
Well if we don’t count the Moon, this aspect pattern has occurred three times in the last 400 years.
With Mercury 9th – 19th July 1992
With Venus 20th – 28th Mar 1955
With Sun 18th – 23rd Aug 1794
This makes the chances of this kind of chart coming up at over 1 in 6000.
The Venus one in 1955 is particularly interesting. I have two of them in my database.
One was Steven Caruso who stalked a waitress and finally sent a bomb to her house, killing her outright.
The other was Bernard Laroche who was a suspect in the murder of a 4 year old boy. Laroche was acquitted but the boy’s father didn’t believe in the verdict and killed him.
So far so unsavoury.
Given that evidence most people would not be tempted to elect someone with this kind of chart as their President. But Brazilian voters are obviously not following astrology en masse.
Brazil President Jair Bolsonaro has this Grand Cross in angular houses.
The Moon is also involved.
His Sun is at the very beginning of Aries in the 8th house.
Mars is in the 10th house opposite Saturn in the 4th.
The very least you would expect from this kind of chart is that his career would cause the deaths of many of his citizens.
When you factor in that Bolsonaro effectively ignored Covid and suggested people take hydroxychloroquine instead while nearly 700,000 of his countrymen died of the disease, you could make a fair case to say that is exactly what he has done.
His total ignorance of man made climate change and the intensified logging of the Amazon that has occurred under his watch and with his encouragement will in the long term probably contribute to causing the deaths of far more.
The astrological reason that Jair Bolsonaro was elected in the first place was his Jupiter / Uranus / Ascendant conjunction in Cancer.
Jupiter was trine his Sun and Uranus sextile his Moon when he won the vote in late October 2019.
As predicted by me a few weeks ago, three years later he was unceremoniously dumped.
Both Saturn and Uranus are bang on Bolsonaro’s Grand Cross. Saturn is exactly conjunct Venus and Uranus is exactly conjunct Mars.
The only problem here is will Jair Big Bollocks accept the decision of the masses ?
Quite possibly not. Because there is a powerful lunar eclipse hitting his Grand Cross early next week, that could engulf the country in a major civil confrontation.
This is particularly true given that the Brazil chart has an Ascendant of 22 Aquarius.
Bolsonaro has made no secret of his admiration for Donald Trump, calling himself the ” Trump Of The Tropics “.
Trump lost in 2020 because Neptune was square to his Sun and Moon, but not long after the election defeat there was an eclipse right on that Moon – see an article I wrote earlier in that year https://astrologyresearch.co.uk/the-eclipse-of-donald-trump/
This eclipse not only confirmed Trump would lose but also contributed to the refusal to accept the results and culminated in the January 6th uprising.
So don’t be surprised if Brazil experiences something similar in the coming days and weeks.
What about the new President of Brazil ?
I have recently found out the chart I was using for Lula was the wrong one so have rewritten this part of the article.
Lula’s chart has a strongly Scorpionic flavour.
This certainly fits with the events of the past few years and his dramatic return to power after being wrongly imprisoned.
This fits with his Moon / Mars / Saturn conjunction in the 8th house.
He was convicted on charges of money laundering and corruption in July 2017 and incarcerated in April 2018. Both events took place with Uranus square to his Moon.
But Pluto his Sun ruler got him out.
In March 2021 when Pluto first opposed Lula’s Moon, the Supreme Court ruled that the previous trial had been biased and overturned the conviction.
This transit is still in force now as he wins the election. So a complete Pluto turnaround then.
But the Pluto / Moon transit still has a year to run and the next three months will be critical.
Within 24 hours of Lula’s election victory, world leaders are rushing to congratulate and confirm his victory. They are no doubt concerned about a January 6th mark two.
My feeling is the eclipse could well cause problems but that the new President will take office in the New Year.
There are no doubt right wing South American astrologers who are claiming that since both Bolsonaro and Lula had Pluto in Leo, they would be the same.
The standard of political and astrological analysis these days is seriously dumb.
