Will Constance’s Baby Be Found Alive ?

This article will probably provoke responses of yet another entirely inappropriate subject for a horary but my defence as always is, if it’s ok for the media to comment on something it’s fair to use astrology to try and understand it.

So when attempting to give a background to stories like this its probably best to stick to the more respected parts of the press rather than the social media commentaries. This is what the BBC had to say.

” Constance Marten and Mark Gordon have been further arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter as police search for their missing baby.

A vast outdoor area in Brighton is being searched, and police say the infant could still be alive.

But with no trace and temperatures falling, investigators fear the baby may have “come to harm”.

The couple were arrested on Monday – initially on suspicion of child neglect – after being missing for 53 days.

They were held after a member of the public saw them in a shop and called the police.

They remain in custody, but police said they had not provided any further information about the condition or whereabouts of the child.

The search for Ms Marten and Gordon – a convicted rapist and registered sex offender – began when their car was found ablaze by the side of a motorway on 5 January. “

What kind of natal chart should we expect for someone in a situation like this ?

Any chart with a lot of oppositions to personal planets will often describe an individual who has little control over her own life.

The Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars by sign and house will generally describe where they wish to focus their own energies. Planets opposite them will naturally distract them from that chosen path and take them in many other directions.

Constance Marten has 3 of these oppositions involving the 4 heaviest planetary opponents.

Her Mercury is opposite Uranus and Saturn, Venus is similarly challenged by Pluto and Mars by Neptune.

While one of these would not create the kind of havoc we have seen on our TV screens, there’s a good chance that three of them would.

We obviously don’t have a birth time so we can’t know exactly in which areas of her life these themes play out, but the noon chart can often come to our aid here.

The Moon and Venus in Taurus does give the sense of someone who comes from a privileged and comfortable background. The Sun and Moon in the 10th suggests someone who has been successful in their career as well.

Venus opposition a retrograde Pluto in Scorpio can point to someone who finds themselves involved with a sex offender. We don’t know from the reports but it’s quite possible that she could have been forced into this situation against her will by a manipulative character.

This opposition flowing from the noon 9th to 3rd house shows the ” on the run ” quality of this relationship.

Mercury in Gemini opposite Uranus and Saturn indicates someone who is impulsive and makes quick decisions that are probably not in her best interest.

Falling in the noon 10 / 4th houses shows that they would live in conventional and uncomfortable circumstances and sleeping in a tent during a particularly cold English winter attests to this.

Mars in Cancer opposite Neptune in Capricorn again speaks of vulnerability and someone who is easily persuaded into drugs and deception.

Falling across the 11 / 5th houses it also points to the mysterious disappearance of a baby.

The tightest of these oppositions is the Mercury / Uranus one and the fact that transit Neptune is forming a T square to this pattern while this saga was going on adds to the mystery.

A transiting planet will always carry something of its natal theme with it, so a 5th house Neptune that is now forming an apex to this T Square from the 8th house is not good news for Constance’s baby.

Its also important to point out that sometime this year Uranus would be conjunct Constance’s Moon, which given everything else would certainly create problems with childbirth and being a mother.

All of this can be deduced pretty simply from the natal chart.

What about the horary and the question currently facing the police ?

I do feel some kind of vague connection to this story as I spent 35 years in Brighton, I know the area well and can empathise with the search teams.

I have spent a significant amount of my life trawling through the deep rough on Hollingbury golf course looking for something tiny that was tragically dumped there.

The view from there across the town to the sea from the course is incredible though.

Hopefully the horary will be just as clear.

First of all, does the chart resonate with the question and the people in the story ?

The Moon and Mars in Gemini is saying that it is. The Moon being very close to Constance’ Mercury backs that up.

Pisces is rising and given that the transit that’s behind this tale is its ruler Neptune, I’m going to take it to signify her.

The Moon has just passed a square aspect with Neptune.

It is Void of Course ( this is an error see below postscript ) which usually suggests nothing will come of the question. Which given the question is tragic news.

The fact that the Moon is ruler of the 5th house, means that it becomes the baby’s significator.

The Moon past the square with Neptune 2 degrees ago suggesting that Constance dumped, left or lost her baby a couple of days or weeks previously.

I don’t normally use minor aspects in horaries but maybe there is a case for this as the only aspect that the Moon could make is an applying quincunx ( an aspect associated with death ) to Pluto ( a planet connected with death ) in the final few minutes of a sign as the ruler of the 8th house ( I guess you’ve got the picture ).

Constance’ partner can’t be symbolised by the Moon ( 5th ruler ) because that’s already taken by the baby.

Mark Gordon must be Mercury as ruler of the 7th house.

Mercury is applying to conjunct Saturn in the 12th house, showing that he will be going down for this crime.

The 12th house is the 8th from the 5th so this placing could well be showing the person who is really responsible for the baby’s plight.

In 50 years of study, I have never come across a situation that astrology can’t or doesn’t depict.

Looking at charts like these is not for the faint hearted. It is for people who are compassionate and deeply saddened by the situation but still wish to understand it.

Postscript

I don’t amend articles after the fact but feel I should add a postscript to this one.

One Facebook follower pointed out that the Moon isn’t Void in the horary because the Moon applies to a trine to Saturn.

I genuinely hadn’t spotted that fact.

So I replied – “ With Saturn in the 12th and the baby’s 8th could mean that the police do find the child but would still be dead. That also probably means that both parents go to jail “

Within a minute I saw that another follower sent news that a body had just been found.

There is a Horary Consideration that states if Saturn is placed in the 7th house of the chart, the astrologers judgement would be compromised or faulty.

I generally look for that and try and take it into account with any interpretation.

I must assume that the same thing works if the ruler of the 7th house applies to a conjunction with Saturn in the 12th house.

And that it would refer to something that they didn’t see because the 12th is the place of hidden things.

This is also ironic as not half an hour before this occurred I got a brief glimpse of the Mercury / Saturn conjunction in the sky, also in the 12th house.

By the time I got this message, the Sun had come up and the Mercury / Saturn conjunction had disappeared.

That’s horary at work in real time.
