British readers would recognise the title. It is from a nursery rhyme that we all repeated on bonfire night.
“Remember, remember, the 5th of November, gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder treason should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, ’twas his intent to blow up the King and the Parliament
Three score barrels of powder below poor old England to overthrow
By God’s providence he was catch’d with a dark lantern and burning match”.
For someone so closely associated with bonfires we would be expecting a certain element to figure strongly.
With Mercury, Venus in Aries and the Moon and Mars in Leo, Guy Fawkes certainly ticks that box.
We don’t have a birthtime for him but a noon chart gives Leo Ascendant as well.
His tight Mercury opposition with Saturn would make him a strong vocal opponent of the authorities.
The Grand Trine between Mars, Venus/Sun and Uranus would suggest Fawkes was particularly good at blowing things up.
Fawkes plan to blow up Parliament was discovered late at night on the 4th November.
We have another Fire Grand Trine, that sits right on Fawkes’ own.
This time Pluto, Saturn and the Moon join in.
There is a second Grand Trine (in Earth) between Mars, Uranus and Jupiter, with Uranus in square to Fawkes own Mars.
Given all these flowing aspects it was no shock that he managed to get 60 barrels on gunpowder underneath Parliament. The only surprise would be that it didn’t go off.
Guy Fawkes was basically a terrorist, inspired and driven by an obsession with an old time religion that wanted amongst other things to force women to live like a biblical stereotype.
Fawkes tried to destroy the very foundation of democracy with an act of extreme violence and was sponsored to do that by a foreign power.
So any connection between Guy Fawkes and anyone living today would obviously be a coincidence.
Donald Trump shares with Guy Fawkes a tight hard aspect between the Sun and Moon (Fawkes the square, Trump the opposition).
But the astonishing thing is they both have Mars at 26 Leo.
And 419 years after Bonfire Night, the 5th of November 2024 has Uranus at 25 Taurus, a degree away from where it was back then.
Fawkes main aim was to blow up the king, James 1, a Protestant from Scotland.
Astonishingly James has his Mars at 24 Leo in conjunction with Saturn in the 12th house of hidden enemies.
This combo is square to Venus on the Midheaven.
And with transit Uranus hitting all that, it is a wonder he lived to tell the tale.
James was newly installed as king after the death of an old monarch of the opposite sex, so again any resemblance between him and anyone living would be purely coincidental.
Especially if they also had Mars in the early 20s of Leo.
Statisticians would be keen to tell you that the chances of any four people involved in something like this would be about 130,000 to 1 against.
But yeah, because its astrology, it must be a coincidence.
So what does all this have to say about the coming US election?
Will Donald Trump blow up a fledgling democracy or will his treason be unveiled at the last minute and his effigy be thrown onto bonfires for the next 400 years?
Will it be Don Corleone or Penny for the Old Guy?
In The Name Of God, Go shows that the guy with the fawked tongue would have had no difficulty beating the old queen, but she’s dead now and the young pretender poses a much stiffer astrological problem.
In The Eclipse Of Donald Trump – Parts Two And Three and The Next Four Years? – The Shock And Awe-Guration Chart, I’ve pointed out that the transits of Jupiter in particular to Trump’s Sun and Harris’ Ascendant make it hard to choose between them.
But there is something else.
People who prefer their astro analysis to be limited to however many letters Elon Musk now permits, would be expecting something like “Pluto is in Aquarius so Kamala is going to win” despite the fact that we have known about this sign change for ages and these “influencers” only started saying this in the last couple of weeks.
But the “influenced” would probably not be reading my articles anyway. So before making my own prediction, I will sorely test the attention span of my readers.
The Capricorn motto is nothing is worth anything unless you’ve had to work to get it.
I am the astrological equivalent of Nate Silver (who incidentally also has the Sun and Ascendant in Capricorn) whose much heralded system for predicting elections got 49 of the states results right in 2008 and predicted the winner in 2012 and 2020.
He didn’t get Trump in 2016 though giving him only a 28.6% chance of winning.
You obviously needed a Capricorn Moon as well to get that one.
Claims have been made that Silver’s method would have predicted winners right back to John F Kennedy’s win in 1960.
Lightweight.
If we look at George Washington’s chart, the indicator that he would become the first US President would be that Mercury in Aquarius in the 10th in trine with Jupiter.
The method that we would be using to time this would be Secondary Progressions.
It’s important to understand that because progressions move so slowly, only one major aspect would be made to any natal planet in a lifetime.
Between 1787 and 1790, Washington’s ruler Venus progressed to form a Grand Trine with both Mercury and Jupiter.
He was elected President in February 1789 and inaugurated at the end of April.
I am tempted to post every single one of their charts but recognise that even my most devoted readers would rebel and skip to the end of the piece, so will restrain myself and just include the important bits.
No 2 John Adams had progressed Sun conjunct Jupiter when he became President.
3. Thomas Jefferson had progressed Sun sextile a T Square apex Mars.
4. James Madison had a natal Grand Trine involving Sun and Moon. Prog Sun was opposite Moon.
5. James Monroe had Moon/Jupiter/Pluto conjunction in 10th. Prog Sun quincunx Moon.
6. John Quincy Adams had nothing at the time of the election but his natal 10th house Sun was exactly sextile Jupiter and his time in office included the Prog Sun conjunct Jupiter.
7. Andrew Jackson had Progressed Sun sextile Sun
8. Martin Van Buren had an 11th house Mars. Prog Sun square Mars and prog Mars conjunct Sun.
9. William Harrison had natal Mercury conjunct the Midheaven with Progressed Sun square both.
10. John Tyler had Progressed Venus trine ruler Mars.
11. James Polk had natal Venus conjunct the Midheaven with Progressed Sun semi square both.
12. Zachary Taylor had progressed Mars sextile Jupiter and conjunct Venus, prog Sun conjunct Pluto.
13. Millard Fillmore had progressed Sun square Mars.
14. Franklin Pierce had progressed Sun sextile Jupiter.
15. James Buchanan had progressed Mars quincunx Moon but his term as President included progressed Sun conjunct his Ascendant.
16. Abraham Lincoln had natal Sun conjunct Ascendant trine Mars, his progressed Moon was sextile all three when he was inaugurated.
17. Andrew Johnson had nothing at the time but his term included prog Sun sextile Sun trine Uranus.
18. Ulysses Grant had Progressed ruler Venus conjunct Sun.
19. Rutherford Hayes had T square apex Pluto in the 10th. Progressed Venus was trine Pluto.
20. James Garfield was only President for 6 months, but elected with Prog Venus conjunct Mercury.
21. He was succeeded by Chester Arthur who ironically had Prog Mercury conjunct Venus.
22. Grover Cleveland had progressed Venus sextile Venus and Mars quincunx Midheaven.
23. Benjamin Harrison had progressed Mars sextile his Sun.
24. Grover Cleveland’s second go had progressed Mercury sextile Pluto.
25. William McKinley had a natal Sun/Moon/Jupiter conjunction. His prog ruler Venus square Mars conjunct Neptune at the time. He also had prog Sun sextile Jupiter during his term of office.
26. Theodore Roosevelt had progressed Sun quincunx Moon but also had progressed Sun conjunct Venus a year after taking office.
27. William Taft had progressed ruler Venus conjunct Mercury and progressed Sun square Venus.
28. Woodrow Wilson had progressed Mars conjunct Jupiter and sextile Moon.
29. Warren Harding had a natal Sun/Moon opposition. His progressed Moon returned to its natal place when he was elected. He died in office (Sun in 8th) when progressed Sun was square Neptune.
30. Calvin Coolidge had natal Sun/Venus conjunct in 11th. Elected with progressed Venus sextile Sun
31. Herbert Hoover had natal Sun conjunct Uranus opposite Saturn in the 10th. He was elected with progressed Sun trine Saturn and sextile Uranus.
32. Franklin Roosevelt had natal Sun conjunct Venus in Aquarius square Jupiter. He was elected with progressed Venus sextile Sun and progressed Sun semi square Jupiter.
33. Harry Truman had natal Sun square 11th house Mars. Elected with progressed Mars trine Sun.
34. Dwight Eisenhower had natal Venus opposite 10th house Neptune square Ascendant. He was elected when his progressed Venus returned to its natal position triggering those aspects.
35. John F Kennedy had progressed Sun sextile Mars.
36. Lyndon Johnson had natal Venus conjunct Neptune in the 11th. Took over when progressed Venus was sextile Neptune.
37. Richard Nixon had progressed Venus sextile Mars and Mercury. He also had progressed Sun quincunx Midheaven.
38. Gerald Ford had natal Sun/Mars sextile. Took over when progressed Sun was trine Mars.
39. Jimmy Carter had ruler Venus in 10th. Elected with progressed Venus sextile Venus.
40. Ronald Reagan had progressed Sun sextile Pluto and trine Uranus.
41. George H W Bush had natal Sun in 10th trine Mars. He had nothing in particular when elected but his term of office contained progressed Sun opposite Mars.
42. Bill Clinton had natal ruler Venus conjunct Ascendant. Progressed Sun conjunct Venus.
43. George W Bush had Progressed Mercury conjunct Venus and progressed Venus sextile Venus.
44. Barack Obama had progressed Sun sextile Midheaven.
So many of these US Presidential progressions are amongst the most powerful that they would have in their entire lives, many reproducing important natal patterns.
What are the chances against all this happening by coincidence?
Pretty astronomical I would say, although apparently not as great as the chances of a certain well known astrologer admitting that she was wrong.
No 45, Donald Trump had progressed Sun conjunct his Ascendant in 2016.
Which is just about the most powerful progression you can have and also proves that not only did he give the right date of birth but he got the time exactly right as well.
This despite the fact that said astrologer told me just before the election that hell would freeze over before he was elected and then rationalised her error by claiming that Trump gave the wrong birthdate.
What about 46?
Intriguingly Joe Biden did not have any significant progressions when he was elected although his decision to stand aside for this November was accompanied by his progressed Venus square to Saturn and progressed Sun quincunx his Midheaven.
This combination smacks very much of someone whose time was over.
And I believe that in itself gives us a clue.
Because Donald Trump has extremely similar progressions between now and the inauguration.
Trump’s progressed Venus is square to his Saturn and quincunx his Midheaven.
What about Kamala Harris then?
If we take an aspect driven approach to astrology, we can instantly see that the dominant pattern in Harris’ chart is the Kite which features the Sun, Moon, Ascendant and Saturn.
The degree areas range between 24 and 28 with the Sun/Moon/Saturn all within a degree of each other.
So any progressions hitting this combination would be extremely powerful indeed.
Kamala Harris’ progressed Sun would only do this once in her life.
And that time is now.
This whole period started at the end of 2020 when she was elected Vice President with the progressed Sun opposite her Ascendant.
It is now trine her Moon, sextile her Sun and sextile her Saturn.
So although transits could not choose between Harris and Trump, their progressions could not be any clearer.
So it looks like God’s providence will intervene once more and catch the old guy with his dark lantern and burning match.
And we will remember the fifth of November for all the right reasons.
