Why is UK Independence Party leader, Nigel Farage in the news so much and is there anything that can be done about this ?
The simple answers are Pluto and No.
In fact with the Sun, Mars and Jupiter in Aries, simple answers are Farage’s political stock in trade.
Aries is the first sign and the one that sees things in clear black and white terms. There is a world and they have to get themselves out there as quickly and assertively as possible. It doesn’t really matter what they do or say, the important thing is that they do and say it.
The Sun conjunct Mars in Aries is more than capable of reducing the complexities of political debate to an overarching significance of the single issue.
The Moon in Sagittarius also comes in very handy when someone wants to make direct and blunt observations without being too bothered whether or not anyone else gets offended. The truth might well hurt, but it needs to be told.
The strange thing about Farage’s political stand for an Aries / Sagittarius combination is that its essentially narrow and inward looking.
From a consideration of the Sun and Moon only, one might be tempted to think that he doesn’t essentially believe in the cause of stepping back from Europe and halting immigration, but is simply using UKIP as a personal political launchpad.
But as ever, the Sun and Moon will show the personality but the thrust of the major direction in someone’s life is shown by a T Square.
Farage’s T Square is based on an opposition between Uranus in Virgo in the 3rd house to Saturn in Pisces in the 9th. He sees himself as a revolutionary figure ( Uranus ) but one who is fighting for the underdog English man of the people ( in Virgo ) through his verbal communication ( in the 3rd house ). His great enemy is the oppressive bureaucracy ( Saturn ) that has an undermining and dispersive effect ( in Pisces ) on British sovereignty because its coming from Europe ( in the 9th house ).
This opposition focuses by T square onto an apex Venus at the end of Taurus in the 11th house. So the result of the tensions that he sees in the opposition forces him to make a populist appeal ( Venus ) to the inbuilt British conservativism ( in Taurus ) through the world of politics (in the 11th house ).
The fact that Venus is at the very end of Taurus enables him to present himself as the last defender of these traditional values.
Whether or not he is using this situation as a launchpad for his own ambition, the timing of lift off could not be better. Pluto is currently square to his Sun so we are in the middle of the most important period in his life. And its not just Pluto either.
The much trumpeted exact Grand Cross of April 2014 occurred at 13 degrees 40 of the Cardinal signs, so Mars, Jupiter and Uranus were also powerfully aspecting his Sun. Uranus and Pluto will continue to do so until February 2015. This means that he will be in our living rooms for a while yet, but also that if he doesn’t manage to find a winnable seat in Parliament by then, its unlikely that he ever will.
The Grand Cross affects different people in different ways. At one end of it at 13. 43 Aries we have Farage who wants to step back from Europe as quickly as possible. At the other end is Vladimir Putin at 13.56 Libra who also wants to keep out but is trying to take some decent size chunks of the continent with him.
Perhaps we could put them together in a darkened room somewhere. That should keep Nigel Farage off the telly for a while.
