Princess Diana’s death was a tragedy, the shock and sadness was experienced all round the world and it had a convulsive effect on the people of this country, profoundly upsetting but at the same time it brought a coming together not seen since the end of the war. When someone who was loved so much is taken away at such a young age, its understandable that many asked the question why and indeed looked round for a place to apportion blame or at least responsibility.
The fact that she died in a car crash in a tunnel late at night in Paris with no witnesses, added to the desperation to find reasons for her death in the hope that this might help people come to terms with it. At the inquest into her death the jury concluded that Diana and her partner, Dodi Fayed were unlawfully killed as a result of the “ grossly negligent driving of the following vehicles and of the Mercedes “. Other factors were ‘’ the impairment of the judgement of the driver of the Mercedes through alcohol “ and “ the death of the deceased was caused or contributed to by the fact that the deceased was not wearing a seatbelt, the fact that the Mercedes struck the pillar in the Alma Tunnel, rather than colliding with something else “.
There are times when life just seems to be so cruel, when someone who was loved so much is taken away for no reason. In times gone by such an event would have been explained by asserting that it was the will of God. The fact that there are no explanations means that some people need to look for them in ways that fit with their overall view of life. Conspiracy theorists can look for ammunition precisely because of the unexplained nature of Diana’s death. Astrology however, can explain it and perhaps help us to see that it was her fate. Accepting such an event is too much to ask but a little bit of understanding can help.
A close inspection of Princess Diana’s chart actually shows the nature and even the timing of her death. Capricorn Research has never met anyone who predicted it but there are many things that no-one should know in advance.
Every chart is a collection of symbols and the person’s life is an expression of those symbols. In Princess Diana’s case the symbolism was archetypal. Diana was a Sun Cancer, a daughter of it’s ruler, the Moon and even named after the Moon Goddess. She was a sensitive, emotional person, nurturing, empathic and supportive. Cancerians usually have a strong sense of family, of who belongs and who doesn’t and are keen to build a defensive wall around their particular group to protect them. Diana was not a typical Cancer in this way as she had Sagittarius rising and particularly the Moon in Aquarius which widened her horizons significantly. Her Sun is not aspected and didn’t play such an important role in her life as her Moon. The Moon in Aquarius meant that Diana’s emotional family seemed to include everyone and she had an extraordinary ability to relate to and empathise with all types of people. This was undoubtedly why her untimely death touched so many people profoundly.
Her Moon is opposite Uranus. Uranus rules the media, particularly in the modern TV age, it’s symbol even looks like a TV aerial. The media followed her around like nobody ever before or since and the term paparazzi was largely unknown before she came on the scene. A lot of this was probably to do with Diana’s openness as an Aquarian Moon ( English Royal Moons since the war have been in much more restrained or traditional signs like Taurus, Cancer, Leo, Virgo and Scorpio ) so the media recognised an opportunity and went after it big time.
The opposition between Diana’s Moon and Uranus focuses onto the Tsquare point of Venus in Taurus and the media created this image of one of the most beautiful women in the world and certainly the most photographed. Billions of people bought into this projected image and she was a globally recognised iconic figure.
If we accept that the Media in Diana’s chart is represented by Uranus the circumstances of her death become clearer. It can also help to think of Diana as being represented by her Moon. Uranus is at 23 degrees Leo and the media was always following Diana around as her Moon was at 25 degrees of the opposite sign Aquarius.
Traditionally, Astrology has placed death in the 8th house of a chart, and planets in this house can say something about the nature of a person’s death particularly if it is unusual. In Diana’s 8th house there is a conjunction of Mars with Pluto and also with Uranus. In fact Mars and Pluto are together in Virgo and Uranus is just behind the pair in Leo, the sign before. All this is happening opposite Diana’s Moon.
Mars is the principle of personal drive so we have to see it’s role here as driving. Pluto as we know is all about sudden, unexpected change that always has life transforming affects, it is the planet of death and rebirth. It also rules the underworld. Mars conjunct Pluto and Uranus in the 8th house opposite the Moon is telling us that Princess Diana ( Moon ) would die ( 8th ) in a car crash ( Mars ) in an underground tunnel ( Pluto ) being pursued by the media ( Uranus ).
The symbols clearly point to the tragic event.
So when would all this happen. Given the significance of the event you might expect Pluto transiting to the Sun, but whilst Pluto / Sun contacts do mark major periods of death and rebirth within a person’s life its seldom that they mark their actual death. Pluto is with Mars in the chart so the thing to do would be to see when Pluto makes another aspect with that Mars / Pluto conjunction. It does, in fact make only one in Diana’s lifetime a square aspect which was in operation in 1996 – 98. Princess Diana died on the 31st August 1997.
There can be no question about it, Dodi Fayed had a very difficult birthchart. It is dominated by a Grand Cross with the Sun in Aries in opposition to Neptune, in square to the Moon which is itself in opposition to Jupiter and Uranus. Life is never easy for someone with a Grand Cross and the impression often given is someone who is boxed in by the stresses, tensions and events of life. It’s as if challenges were waiting around every corner and a lot of energy would be generated in order to try and meet them. Dodi also had a T square based on an opposition between his Ascendant in Taurus and Saturn in the 7th house. This in itself suggests difficulties, obstacles, limitations and lessons to be learned through the area of relationships. The tension between what he wants to express himself ( Ascendant ) and the experience he receives through relationships focuses onto Pluto. So at some point in his life his experience through relationships will create a sudden and powerful change for him. Pluto is also in wide square aspect to Mars.
There are no strong connections between the Sun, Moon and Ascendants of Dodi and Diana’s charts. There usually are major links between partners but this could be explained by the impression widely understood that Dodi was not the most significant of Diana’s relationships. Dodi and Diana had only been together for 2 months when the crash happenened. There is a strong Pluto / Mars connection however. Pluto in Dodi’s chart is at 24 degrees 25 Leo right in Diana’s T Square exactly opposite her Moon and square to her Venus. It is also conjunct Diana’s Uranus , so his Pluto is very much part of the car chase through Paris that night.
The other factor is Dodi’s Mars is at 2 degrees 52 Gemini in square to Diana’s Mars / Pluto conjunction. Pluto on the day of the crash is at 2 degrees 55 Sagittarius in exact opposition to Dodi’s Mars, an aspect that unfortunately put him in the car at the time.
To help understand this cruel and tragic event we should look at the chart for the moment of the crash.
The most striking thing is the Tsquare based on an opposition right along the vertical axis of the chart. The opposition is between the Moon in Leo at the very base of the chart and Jupiter in Aquarius at the top with another one to Uranus. These oppositions focus their energy by squares onto Mars in Scorpio.
A little bit of symbolic licence can help us see what the chart is getting at. Leo is royalty so the Moon in Leo is a princess at the very bottom of the chart ( in an underground tunnel ) , Jupiter symbolises travel at the top of the chart ( at high speed ) again followed by Uranus ( the media ). The tension implicit in this opposition is projected strongly onto Mars in the 8th sign, Scorpio ( death in a car crash ).
Just by way of backup, Venus in Libra is opposite Saturn so the horoscope columns might say this was not a good day for beautiful people in a relationship.
Princess Diana’s death deeply affected everyone in Britain. It’s understandable that people should look for answers to something so shocking but if we need someone to blame we should point the finger at that Grim Reaper, Pluto.
