The biggest problem in mundane astrology is knowing which chart to use. Whether it’s for a country, a city, a corporation or a political party there are usually a fair few put forward with convincing arguments.
This is obviously not a problem in natal astrology. It’s generally agreed that someone’s chart is cast for the moment of their birth.
With horary too, there might be disagreement as to when a particular question first occurred to the client, but the moment that they voice this question to an astrologer would be the pertinent one.
There are several charts put forward for the UK, all of them have their merits, but the chart for William the Conqueror’s coronation still seems to be the most instructive.

How can this be? It’s almost a thousand years old.
Well transit Uranus was on the Aries Ascendant in June 2016 when the referendum decision to leave Europe was called.
Given that Uranus was on the Libra Descendant in 1975 when the UK opted to join the EEC in the first place, this is obviously a thing.
The main transit that is happening now is Neptune conjunct the 12th house Pisces Moon.
This is compounded by the 1066 Progressed Sun being square to Neptune.
And rather bizarrely, the exact same thing is happening to the other chart most commonly used for the UK, the 1801 Union chart

The progressed Sun for the UK chart is currently at 19 Leo, in square to Neptune.
Given all this it’s not surprising that there’s a blood poisoning scandal and its beaches are knee deep in sewage.
Rishi Sunak’s decision to announce an election with a Scorpio Moon opposite his own Sun occurred suitably in the middle of a downpour.
Drowning Street seem to be the common consensus.

Sunak has a Taurean Sun opposite Uranus, so the transit of that slow mover would be profoundly important in his political life.
His whole time as UK PM has coincided with transit Uranus conjunct his Sun. This was why I predicted that he would become leader a couple of years beforehand.
Uranus has moved on now, so it’s time to call it a day.
What we have now is a vengeful Pluto.
This is because Sunak became Prime Minister on a solar eclipse in Scorpio.

Transit Pluto is now exactly square the Sun and Moon of this chart, so his government are heading for the guillotine.
Will this election be a complete disaster for the Tory party?
It probably depends on which chart you use. In The Conservative Party – A Cancer At The Heart Of British Politics, I used a chart based on the signing of the Tamworth Manifesto “which is widely credited by historians as having laid down the principles upon which the modern British Conservative Party is based”

The Moon/Mars conjunction in Cancer seems to reflect those small minded but aggressive conservative Cancerian values very well.
And many of it’s leaders over the years have significant Cancer placements, as detailed in the article.
But the current transits to it are hardly threatening or even mildly descriptive of the total chaotic mess the last few years have been for both party and country.
However, I was made aware recently by a follower on Facebook of the 1912 chart for the party’s amalgamation with the Liberal Unionists and used this in the article Uranus And The Taury Revolution.

Interestingly this chart has Mars in the same place as the Tamworth Mars, so the Pluto transits square to that red planet that brought Margaret Thatcher’s victory in 1979 would also work for this one.
But the Sun conjunct Saturn in Taurus does seem to sum up the old school conservative values and it’s square to the Moon in Aquarius reflects the right wing ideology.
This chart also seems to respond much more effectively to transits.
Sunak, with his Sun right on the Taury Saturn is an archetypal Conservative politician and his own fate is very much tied up with the transits of those of his party.
At the end of August 2022, Uranus stationed at 18.55 Taurus, exactly on the Conservative and Unionist Sun.
Prime Minister at the time Boris Johnson was under intense pressure at the time and resigned on September 6th, to be replaced by a lettuce.

Truss has two T Squares, one focusing on an intellectually challenged Mercury/Saturn conjunction in Cancer.
The other a bird brained, delusional Moon in Pisces exactly opposite Venus and apex Neptune.
She was dumped 6 weeks later as Uranus was at 17.31 Taurus exactly conjunct her Mars.
Sunak has called the election for July 4th.

Transit Uranus will be at 25.51 Taurus, square to the Conservative and Unionist Party Moon, so this will bring the end to this nightmare period.
The last time Uranus was at these degrees was in 1940 when Conservative PM Neville Chamberlain was ousted in favour of a National government under Winston Churchill.
It pitched the Tory party out of office until 1951 when transit Pluto was square to its Sun.
We could be looking at a similar period out of power as Pluto doesn’t form a square to the Tory Sun again until 2035.
So Keir Starmer will become PM on a New Moon in Cancer.

It’s not a very ambitious chart so it looks like the UK will have to be content with small gains.
The sense of crabs crawling slowly away from polluted beaches comes to mind.
But with all those Neptune progressions and transits still happening to the 1066 and 1801 charts the astro weather forecasters would have predicted more rain anyway.
