2025 is a big year for Astrology, particularly in the Mundane study of nations and world events.
Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto all change signs.
While all and sundry put in their tuppence worth to scare us all about what this might mean, Capricorn research is always looking for proof by examining precedents.
The last time this happened was on 21st October 1956, when Pluto moved into Virgo a day after Neptune went into Scorpio and ten days after Saturn entered Sagittarius, Uranus had earlier that year entered Leo.
Within 2 days of this cosmic event, the Hungarian Revolution against their Soviet Russian masters began.

As if to amplify this great sign change, the Sun was exactly conjunct Neptune and sextile Pluto on the day.
A Mars in Pisces opposite Venus/Jupiter conjunction in Virgo apex Moon in Gemini T Square seems to point to action taken by the people, but this uprising didn’t turn out to be the revolution everyone hoped for.

The taking of the Winter Palace in 1917 was the critical moment in the Russian Revolution and the chart for this the one used for Soviet Russia.
With Sun in Scorpio and Virgo rising, if you were around in 1956 you might think that Neptune and Pluto’s ingress into these signs would spark major change, maybe a popular revolution to dismantle the old order.
If so, it didn’t last as the Hungarian uprising was crushed by Soviet tanks and troops 12 days later.
For real change in Eastern Europe we had to wait another 33 years.

The Fall of the Berlin Wall in November 1989 was arguably the most important political event of the 20th century.
And the astrology was far more powerful than 1956.
I have said many times that astrology is very specific and events are powerfully aspect driven.
We can all look with hindsight and try to form narratives around the slow moving planets changing signs.
“Influencer astrologers” have been banging on about Pluto’s move into Aquarius for ages and yes it’s pretty likely that the next 20 years will bring change, particularly to their bank balances.
But it’s aspects to individual charts that dictate the main events.
The Soviet chart had a very powerful T square which aptly described the regime’s hegemony for 72 years.
Uranus in Aquarius would point to the ideals of the Marxist Revolution but it was opposite a Moon/Saturn conjunction in Leo which smacks of old school authoritarianism.
This focused onto a ruthless apex Sun/ruling Mercury conjunction in Scorpio.
Pluto at the time of the Fall of the Berlin Wall was right in that T square, exactly conjunct the Sun and ruler Mercury of the Soviet chart.
It goes without saying that a Pluto conjunction is a once in 250 year event and a revolution in itself.
This transit on its own is an extremely powerful proof of both astrology and Pluto.
It’s true that a Pluto transit can last for anything up to 3 years, but this one was powerfully triggered by the Sun and Mercury (the two that are in close conjunction in the Soviet chart) joining it on 9th November 1989.
For more on this see The Dissolution Of The Soviet Union
There is another chart that is put forward for the Soviet Union.
The 1917 revolution was not accepted by all within the Russian Republic, resulting in the Russian Civil War. All the subordinate republics were merged into the Soviet Union which was formed at the end of 1922.

Many of the same themes from the 1917 chart were present in this one 5 years later.
Virgo is again rising.
Jupiter is at 13 Scorpio exactly conjunct the 1917 Sun.
Neptune is at 17 Leo exactly conjunct its Moon.
The Pluto theme continues with the 1922 Sun at 8 Capricorn opposite it at 10 Cancer.
In some ways this chart is actually more significant than the 1917 one because it refers to the empire that extended its grip over the whole of Eastern Europe after 1945.
The chart for the Fall of the Berlin Wall has another extremely important feature. An exact opposition between Jupiter at 10 Cancer and the Saturn/Neptune conjunction at 10 Capricorn.
This hits exactly the Sun/Pluto opposition in the 1922 chart.
A Saturn/Neptune conjunction in Capricorn does sound ominous, the dissolution of a global power is a fitting tribute.
Which given where we are now, is very interesting, because these conjunctions occur about every 36 years.
The coming Saturn/Neptune conjunction (2025 -26) is likely to be even more powerful because it occurs at the beginning of the Zodiac as both planets move into Aries.
We all know about Saturn Returns because they happen often enough (every 29-30 years) to coincide with observable changes in our own lives.
But a Neptune Return will occur approximately every 165 years, so obviously not applicable to individual human beings.
The last time Neptune moved into Aries was 1861 and this coincided with a very powerful event.

The chart for the moment the US Civil War began marks Neptune’s move into Aries very profoundly.
As you can see it is in the last few minutes of Pisces and right on the Ascendant.
While having reservations about giving general sign qualities to extended periods of time, I think that Neptune in Pisces does have a connection with slavery and this was the chart that effectively began the end of it in the USA.
Although this was a long time ago, it doesn’t require much of a mental stretch to connect the dots and see correlations with the conditions in the same country now.
There is a powerful split between two tribes, one of them mostly focused on the southern and rural states and the more intellectually challenged Americans who resent the “Eastern seaboard city elites” for forcing them to change their traditional ways of controlling their slaves/women.
The first black female President could well spark the same kind of reaction as Lincoln’s did.
“Decades of controversy over slavery were brought to a head when Abraham Lincoln, who opposed slavery’s expansion, won the 1860 presidential election. Seven Southern slave states responded to Lincoln’s victory by seceding from the United States and forming the Confederacy. The Confederacy seized U.S. forts and other federal assets within their borders. The war began on April 12, 1861.”
The country was torn apart for 4 years but the Union forces won, a result that was inevitable after The Battle of Gettysburg, generally considered to be a turning point of the war.

Neptune had moved on to 6 Aries, but it’s interesting to see that in October 1862, Saturn had moved into Libra, forming an opposition with Neptune until August 1863.
For Gettysburg, these two formed a T square with an apex Sun, very close to the US Sun at 13 Cancer.
So perhaps a Saturn/Neptune aspect around the equinox points is not something to be feared, maybe it’s a sign of victory for the good guys.
It’s true that the Hungarian uprising was quashed, but we could see that as the first rebellion against the powers of darkness, that in the end resulted in the fall of the wall 36 years later.
It’s likely that the rebellion wouldn’t even have occurred if it wasn’t for another event 3 years previously.

Joseph Stalin’s 30 year rule over Soviet Russia was the most regressive, brutal regime of the 20th century.
His death in 1953 came with a Saturn/Neptune conjunction in late Libra.
There was another global event that year that celebrated mankind’s reach for the heights.

Edmund Hilary and Tensing Norgay conquered Everest with an appropriate Sun/Jupiter conjunction.
This happened when the Saturn/Neptune was exact to within 1/3 of a degree.
For more on this see – Jupiter On Top Of The Biggest Hill Of All
It would be fair to pick the Everest summit and the Fall of the Berlin Wall amongst the greatest achievements of mankind in the 20th century.
The only one that could possibly challenge them would be a man landing on the Moon.
This event occurred with another exact outer planet conjunction on an equinox point.
On 20th July 1969, Jupiter was 0.44 Libra, Uranus was 0.41.
So maybe we don’t have to fear the coming Saturn/Neptune conjunction at the start of Aries.
Perhaps the clue is in the abbreviation of both planets.
Maybe the good guys do take back control and the world starts to become a SANE place again.
