“I am a romantic, and when I’m in love, I want to give that person everything I can,” he said. “It’s my expression of saying, ‘I love you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you.’ And this is it for me.”
Thus speaks a Moon in Libra with Capricorn Sun ticking both the romantic and staying power boxes.
So how come this was his 5th marriage and the previous one lasted a whole four days then ?
This is a tricky one to unpick.
A Venus / Saturn conjunction will often bring frustration in affairs of the heart and would delay finding one’s true person until later in life once the dues have been paid and the work has been done.
I know this because like Nicolas Cage, I am a Capricorn with a Venus / Saturn conjunction and did not find my soulmate until the age of 63.
But I also know that Venus / Saturn brings a strong sense of duty, responsibility and continuity which caused me to stay with someone that I had no real connection or relationship with for 40 of those years.
So that’s where the similarity breaks down.
I believe the clue to Nic Cage’s married life lies in the house placings.
With his Libra Moon in the 10th house and Venus in the 2nd, his real love is his career.
Cage has the North Node in the 7th house which you would think would be signalling that marriage would be a good direction for him to focus on in his life.
But it’s placing opposite the Sun in the 1st house, suggests that he wouldn’t.
The South Node points to an area where we are likely to experience difficulties and lessons to be learned. Given that simple fact you might expect a Capricorn to do whatever they could to avoid it.
But the conjunction with the Sun means that he has to go down that path.
In the 1st house in Capricorn and conjunct Mars, that means a constant assertion of his own personal themes and an unwillingness to compromise them for the sake of a relationship.
There is nothing ( apart from the NN ) between the IC and the 9th house so this is not a person who considers the needs of others very much.
The Moon’s exact square with Mars, and Jupiter in Aries square to the Sun and Mercury focus even more energy on the 1st house.
The key to that short quote about love was that there was no naming the person he was getting married to, but the word I was mentioned six times, my twice and me once.
This is strictly first house romance, the words of a serial monogamist.
With Jupiter conjunct the IC, Cage came from a prestigious family, his uncle was film director Francis Ford Coppola.
Nicolas Cage’s first progressions of any significance were Venus sextile his Sun and trine his Neptune between 1986 and 88.
There were rumours that he was dating actresses Brooke Shields and Ami Dolenz during this period but the first one we know for sure was Christina Fulton in 1988.
They lasted two years together, separating soon after the birth of their son.
Christina has Venus in a Fixed sign in square to Neptune exactly opposite Nicolas’ own Venus / Neptune.
Her Sun and Mercury are also opposite his Sun and Mercury.
Her Moon is opposite his Moon
And her Mars is square to his Mars.
Her Saturn is exactly conjunct his Jupiter and square to his Sun.
So even without a timed chart for Christina we can see this is not going to end well.
They had a son together.
Interestingly Weston Cage has a 1st house Capricorn stellium, like his father
He also has a Venus / Saturn conjunction aspected to Neptune just like Nicolas.
The synastry between Weston and his dad is complicated. Weston’s Venus is right on Nicolas Sun but his Saturn is also tight to his father’s Mars.
The square between Weston’s Venus / Saturn and the 4th house Aries Moon would indicate problems between the parents and Cage and Fulton split up a few months after he was born.
The relationship between Cage and Fulton occurred while transit Uranus opposed her Sun and split up when Neptune was conjunct his.
My feeling is that Christina was Nicolas’ progressed Venus trine Neptune aspect.
It’s sextile to his Sun was different and related to perhaps his most important soulmate.
In 1995, Nicolas Cage’s progressed Sun was conjunct his Venus. He married Patricia Arquette that year.
They actually first met 8 years previously when his progressed Venus was sextile his Sun.
” Arquette ran into Cage and Crispin Glover at Canter’s deli in L.A. and they both told the then-19-year-old actress that they were going to marry her. But Cage 5 years her senior, was apparently more committed than Crispin and asked Arquette to provide a list of things (“like a quest”) for him to find and bring her in order to prove his worthiness as a spouse. The Medium star played along, offering a list of seemingly impossible finds that included J.D. Salinger’s autograph (he issued notoriously few signatures throughout his career), a black orchid (which doesn’t actually exist), a Lisu tribe wedding costume, and a Bob’s Big Boy statue.
“One by one they started coming to me,” Arquette said of the objects on her list. In lieu of a black orchid, Cage found a purple one and showed up at her home with a can of black spray paint.
“She wouldn’t come out, but I could see her peeking down from the top floor. In my very showy way, I whipped the orchid out of my pocket. Then I whipped out the paint can and started spray-painting the orchid black. She was freaked out. I rang the doorbell again and she came down. I just gave it to her and got back on my motorcycle and left,” .
Next Cage found a rare letter written by Salinger, bought it for $2,500, and again showed up at Arquette’s home bearing gifts.
She was playing hopscotch in the street with her girlfriends when Cage arrived. He dropped the autograph in a cigar box outside and left. Later, she called him in a tizzy and told him to stop. “It scared me,” she later explained. Cage said he had a chainsaw ready and was prepared to steal a Bob’s Big Boy statue for her when she agreed — not to marry, but to go away with him.
They’d planned to go to Cuba but were stalled in Mexico due to an issue with their airplane tickets. Cage, in a move typical of many of his rageful characters, had a public meltdown at the airport, sending him and Patricia on their separate ways.
In 1995, in the same L.A. deli in which Cage’s quest for Arquette’s hand was outlined, they ran into each other again. “I needed to be reassured that the depth of his love would be as brave as before,” said Patricia. They married two weeks later.
A real testimony to the power of Sun / Venus progressions.
Patricia Arquette has Venus right at the end of Pisces opposite Uranus which possibly explains why wooing her would take such an unusual and exotic path.
Her synastry with Nicolas Cage is powerful but challenging with their Suns in square aspect and his Sun exactly square to her Saturn. Her Moon is also opposite his Venus.
That the whole thing was romantic is undeniable as transit Neptune was conjunct Nicolas Mars and square his Moon when they married.
Delusional too, as this marriage didn’t last long. Some say it was over in 9 months, although they didn’t divorce for several more years.
The most likely scenario was that they split during 1997 – 98 when his progressed Sun was conjunct his Saturn.
Nicolas met Lisa Marie Presley in 2000 and married in 2002.
You could see why.
Lisa’s 7th house Sun is conjunct Nicolas Venus and her Venus is conjunct his Sun.
Her Pisces Moon is sextile his Mars and her Mars is sextile his Sun.
However all these placements in Lisa Marie’s chart are receiving difficult aspects.
Her Sun is opposite her Ascendant.
Her Venus is closely square to Saturn
And her Moon / Mars is opposite Pluto.
After three months they filed for divorce.
According to Nicolas – “Oftentimes when you have two people who are very strong and their own personalities, and rather intense, sometimes you can have a hard time meshing. We got into this unfortunate pattern of breaking up and getting back together again. Sometimes I wish we couldn’t have rushed the marriage and sometimes I regret rushing the divorce.“
Lisa Marie – “One pirate marries another they will sink the ship basically is what it comes down to. It was one of those things where you’re marrying hoping that you’re going to either stabilise it or it’s going to, you know, accentuate all that was going on prior to what was problematic … so it kind of did the latter, that’s all. We shouldn’t have been married in the first place. It was a big mistake.”
Astrologically speaking, that was an understatement.
With a wedding chart containing a Sun / Mars conjunction opposite Uranus and a Moon / Pluto conjunction, its remarkable that they lasted 3 months.
Just months after Nicolas’ divorce from Lisa Marie was finalized, he tied the knot with Alice Kim, whom he had met while she was working at a restaurant in Los Angeles. Alice was only 19 at the time but the pair quickly married.
Cage said that he “made a very clear decision to marry out of [his] own zip code.”
Although astrologically Nicolas and Alice were very much in same zip code, both having Capricorn Suns and Libra Moons.
Alice also had a Moon / Mars aspect conjunct Nic’s own Moon and square to his Mars.
Her Mercury was conjunct his Sun
Her Ascendant was exactly conjunct his Jupiter.
So they wouldn’t clash in the same way that he did with Lisa Marie.
The wedding chart is not without its challenges with the Moon opposing Saturn but with so much Capricorn in all three charts it’s understandable that Nicolas would claim that Alice brought much more stability to his life.
They stayed together for over a decade separating only in 2016 when transit Pluto was conjunct Cage’s Sun and square to Alice’s Moon.
Cage said the split was “a shocker for me—I definitely didn’t see it coming”. which is generally what happens with Pluto transits.
Cage’s newfound stability didn’t last.
He might have thought he was at home in the Kim zip code and married someone from a similar background but astrologically Erika Koike could not have been more different.
With the Sun conjunct Uranus and Moon in Aries opposite a Venus / Pluto conjunction, Koike was the exact opposite of his previous wife.
Her Moon was opposite his Moon and her Venus / Pluto square to his Mars.
Their marriage lasted a whole four days. Cage sought an annulment claiming he was “too drunk” to get married.
He also claimed that Koike didn’t “disclose the full nature and extent of her relationship with another person and of her “criminal history,” including “additional active criminal proceedings.
Erika was previously married and she had been arrested for domestic violence, although the charges were dismissed for lack of evidence.
She was also sued by a woman in 2016 who accused her of assault and battery.
She had three charges of DUI against her name.
Cage also claimed that Koike had been in a relationship with a known drug dealer.
Grounds for an annulment were dismissed, presumably because Nicolas and Erica had been an item for a year and these issues had not suddenly become known during their four day marriage, so for Nic Cage it was a very expensive bender.
The Mercury / Neptune conjunction in Pisces square to Jupiter points to their drunken state at the time of the wedding.
Nicolas Cage does seem to have reverted to his more successful, longer term zip code with his most recent marriage partner.
A Capricorn Sun with Taurus Moon, Mars in Virgo with a Venus / Jupiter conjunction is much more likely to provide continuity.
Their Suns are conjunct each other although their Moons could be opposite.
Riko’s Uranus is conjunct Nico’s Mars.
Their wedding chart is promising.
Venus is exactly conjunct Nicolas’ own but instead of his Saturn it is together with Jupiter here.
It is however square to Mars.
The Moon is opposite Nic’s own and square to Pluto ( conjunct his Mars ).
So we will have to wait and see.
Who knows, the current Mars in Virgo opposite Saturn in Pisces right on Riko’s own opposition combo might have even split them up this week.
My own experience with a Capricorn stellium and a Venus / Saturn conjunction is that true love comes in the 7th decade.
Nicolas Cage embarks on his own in January and with his progressed Venus moving into Taurus, maybe it will for him too.
