Understanding The See Saw Effect On The US Mid Term Elections

It’s a fair bet that any mainstream media article about astrology will include a reference to the ” fact ” that more people turn to the subject in uncertain times.

Well duh…. of course they do.

But far from this being a criticism of those people its more a confirmation that while they are dumb enough to ignore the wisdom of the Universe when things are going well for them, at least when they are under pressure they are trying to understand the how’s and why’s of it all.

And right now we live in extremely uncertain times. This is true the world over, but particularly in the USA.

America is currently experiencing its Pluto Return.

And as if that wasn’t enough in itself, Neptune is moving in on the end of the Zodiac and the last time it did that the US was in the run up to the Civil War.

When we look at the political situation, there are considerable similarities with that time and the two major parties are polarising.

The Mid Term elections fall on a lunar eclipse, but its no ordinary eclipse either.

The eclipse falls with the Moon exactly conjunct Uranus and forms a T square with a difficult apex Saturn in Aquarius.

But the chart for the opening of the polls in DC has the eclipse right across the Ascendant / Descendant axis.

Very polarising indeed. But what does it mean ?

If we look at this chart as a horary we would have to consider the Ascendant ruler Mars to be the Democrats as holders and Venus for the Republicans.

Neither planet is strong, Mars being retrograde in Gemini and Venus being in detriment in Scorpio.

Venus is close to the Ascendant as well and this ( together with it being in detriment ) would generally suggest that the GOP is under the power of the Dems.

However my experience with contest charts is that the sign and house placings of the significators will show how strong the two teams are when they enter the contest, but not necessarily the result of the match.

That would be indicated by the Moon’s applying aspects.

The Moon is in Taurus in conjunction with the Descendant and applying to a conjunction with Uranus, a square with Saturn and an opposition with Venus.

There is no aspect between the Moon and Mars. On this basis I would be expecting a victory for the Republican Party.

When dealing with a situation like this Capricorn Research will always ask has anything like it occurred before.

There has been one previous Mid Term election that fell on a lunar eclipse.

The similarities are extraordinary.

The chart for the opening of the polls, has the eclipse again falling across the Ascendant / Descendant axis.

As this was 84 years ago, Uranus is at the same degree position as it is now and the eclipse forms a T square with an apex planet in Aquarius, this time it’s Jupiter.

Here the Moon makes no aspect to either Mars or Venus, the horary significators, but it is exalted in the house of the Republicans and applying to a square to Jupiter.

What happened then ?

The 1938 elections fell in the middle of President F. D Roosevelt’s 2nd term.

The Democrats lost 72 House seats, mostly to the Republicans and 8 Senate seats.

It was considered a disaster for Roosevelt as a conservative coalition of Republicans and Southern Democrats took control of Congress and thwarted his domestic agenda.

Given that the Moon applies to a square with Saturn in 2022 rather than the Jupiter of 1938, the scale of the GOP victory would be much smaller but if the Mid terms follow suit, it looks like a bad day for Joe Biden.

Interestingly Biden’s natal chart has similar components to the eclipse one.

The Sun is in Scorpio and Moon in Taurus.

The Sun is also in the 12th near the Ascendant and opposite Uranus in the 6th house.

The eclipse degree doesn’t fall directly on any of his placements, but that Mars at 4 degrees away has to be involved.

One thing that I have noticed is that many astrologers can make the mistake of focusing too much on the transits of the actual day of an election.

Because if the GOP takes control of both the House and the Senate, Joe Biden will feel the repercussions of that not so much on that Tuesday in November but very strongly in the two years following that date.

And it will almost certainly impact on whether he chooses to seek re-election for a second term.

In early February, just as the impact of the new Congressional make up will be felt, Saturn will be square to Biden’s Sun.

From March 2023, Pluto begins its square aspect to the President’s Moon, a transit that lasts up to the end of 2025.

This transit will almost certainly see that Joe Biden will only be a one term President. In fact this was one of the reasons why I predicted that he may well not even complete that term.

Someone else who would certainly be affected by a Republican midterm victory is the Democrat Senate leader.

It’s interesting that Chuck Schumer has similar transits coming up to Joe Biden.

Saturn will be square his Sun in March and Uranus will be conjunct his Moon from May 2023.

This doesn’t really look like the transits of someone who will stay in power.

On the other hand, those belonging to the man who would expect to benefit most don’t either.

Saturn will be conjunct Moscow Mitch’s Sun from March and Uranus conjunct his Mars from June.

But Saturn and Uranus conjunctions can often go along with the extra responsibility and energy that comes with power even though their oppositions and squares usually go along with disruption and a fall.

What about the House ?

In one of those remarkable synchronicities that astrology throws up so often, House minority leader Kevin McCarthy also has a significant Saturn transit beginning in March, as it returns and is square to his Moon.

There is some question as to whether the current Speaker will stay in that position even if the Democrats keep hold of the House.

Nancy Pelosi will have Jupiter conjunct her Sun in January which would indicate that she would keep the job.

However, this transit has been in operation for a few months already and coincided with her misguided trip to Taiwan, so the January thing could be tied to that.

The main thing that she has happening this year is her Uranus Return opposite her Moon and conjunct her Venus and Midheaven.

This transit has the flavour of someone whose place at the top of the pile is about to change.

It’s also interesting that the November lunar eclipse falls right across her Moon / Venus opposition, so it could be that this election signals the beginning of the end of the Pelosi era.

Looking at all of this evidence together, it seems to be pointing to the GOP just about taking control over both houses of Congress.

Given the outrage that has accompanied the overturning of the Roe v Wade decision by the Supreme Court, it’s hard to believe that anyone in the US would vote for the Republicans, never mind a majority of them, but this seems to be where we are.

Maybe the point of this lunar eclipse falling on Election Day is to create even more uncertain times and another couple of years of right wing extremist policies that will reinforce the US Pluto Return and the Neptune entering Aries re-enactment of the Civil War.

It seems that the seesaw eclipse chart for the Midterms with its apex Saturn is telling us to prepare for the worst.
