The biggest fallacy in life is that it’s linear.
The second biggest one which naturally flows from the first is that mankind is progressing.
We feel the Earth is flat because our perception is too narrow. It may feel like that because we are tiny and the planet is enormous.
But if we keep moving in the same direction we will eventually arrive back where we started.
Astrology shows us that everything is cyclical.
This applies to all areas of human expression.
As astrologers we are constantly being asked to stand back from our own personal perspective and try and view things in this way.
But we are human too, and that detached objectivity is hard to achieve.
Much as I loathed Donald Trump, I could see him coming in 2016.
Many astrologers were strongly invested in Hilary Clinton reaching the White House and looked for evidence that confirmed this.
Others were Trump devotees and backed him to stay in power in 2020.
Only 5% of astrologers picked both the 2016 and 2020 elections.
We are seeing the same thing now. Many of the people who wrote off Donald Trump in 2016 are doing the same thing again.
Watching him sitting in that New York courtroom, this view of things makes total sense.
But if you stand back and look at the transits for November 2024, Trump looks much better placed than Joe Biden.
A Trump victory would be unthinkable but that could just be the start.
Astrologers will often wing their predictions on their feel for the signs of the time, this can simply help them see what they want to.
But they have one great tool to use that can help them acquire the necessary observational detachment they need.
The can look back and see what was happening the last time round.
Many astrologers have done exactly that and pointed to the recent rise in right wing extremism and connected it with the last time Uranus was in Taurus ( 1935 – 43 ).
But this actually started much earlier, almost a century ago.
” On November 8–9, 1923, Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party led a coalition group in an attempt to overthrow the German government. This attempted coup d’état came to be known as the Beer Hall Putsch. “
The is a very Plutonic chart. The planet itself is right on the Ascendant but there’s also a Scorpio stellium.
One very interesting feature is the Water Grand Trine between the lights, Pluto and Uranus.
I have 148 timed charts of Nazis on my database. The most common sign is Scorpio with a score of 14 for both the Sun and Moon.
This includes Joseph Goebbels with a Sun, Mercury, Mars, Uranus stellium in the sign and Hermann Goering with the Moon and Ascendant in Scorpio.
And the man himself.
I believe that Adolf Hitler deliberately gave a birth time of 20 minutes earlier because it gave him Libra rising. This is the right time for him. For more on this see Adolf Hitler – Only Got One Aspect
The Munich Putsch failed because Saturn was heading for Hitlers Sun / Ascendant and he was put in prison.
But Saturn’s setbacks are always designed to get you to focus on the essentials, get organised and come back stronger
Even for megalomaniacs. And Hitler made good use of his Saturn imposed exile by writing Mein Kampf.
He was encouraged in his coup attempt by the success of the March On Rome a year earlier which brought Benito Mussolini to power.
Mussolini set off from Naples with the Sun conjunct Jupiter and within a week overturned the Italian government and installed himself as Il Duce.
The Sun is in Scorpio again as part of the Grand Trine with Uranus and Pluto.
The transits to Mussolini’s chart were very powerful.
The Sun was square to his own and exactly conjunct his North Node.
Uranus was square to his Moon and Venus was opposite it.

Adolf Hitler’s Saturn transit did help him come back stronger. Less than a decade later he was installed as Chancellor of Germany.
It’s important not to think of transits as a one off.
The cosmic dance between two planets plays out over decades, and the different aspects between them will show the rise and fall of these themes.
The promise of the Uranus / Pluto trine was unleashed by the square aspect.
Venus in this chart turns it into a tight T square.
This was the moment when fascism really took hold in Europe. That hold lasted for another decade.
By the beginning of 1943, the tide of World War 2 had turned. Hitler had made the fatal mistake of opening up an eastern front dragging Soviet Russia into the war and the USA had joined the Allied Forces.
” Italy was facing defeat. The Allied landings in North Africa in November 1942 exposed Italy to an invasion of the Allied forces.
The fall of the Fascist regime in Italy, came as a result of parallel plots led respectively by Count Dino Grandi and King Victor Emmanuel III during the spring and summer of 1943, culminating with a successful vote of no confidence against the Prime Minister Benito Mussolini at the meeting of the Grand Council of Fascism on 24–25 July 1943. As a result, a new government was established, putting an end to the 21 years of Fascist rule in the Kingdom of Italy, and Mussolini was placed under arrest. “
There was another Sun / Jupiter conjunction but this one was tied with Pluto.
Pluto was exactly conjunct Mussolini’s Sun at the time.
Uranus was conjunct his Moon.
So the rise of fascism occurred with Uranus trine Pluto, its peak coincided with the two planets in square aspect and its downfall began with the sextile.
Planets in signs can give us a flavour of the energies that are around at the time, but the real big events would be shown by aspects.
One very good example of this would be from 300 years previously, the English Revolution.
Charles 1 was born on a Uranus / Pluto conjunction, succeeded to the throne of England with the square aspect and was executed with the opposition and the most powerful chart I’ve ever seen.
This may be the only time in human history when an extraordinary seesaw opposition between the four slowest movers occurred.
It was part of a powerful Grand Cross involving Venus and Mars.

While planets in signs can give us a flavour, it’s my view that the major events in history are triggered by their aspects.
One hundred years ago, the Uranus / Pluto trine brought about the beginnings of fascism in Europe.
For the first time since then, these two come together again in trine in 2026. One period of concern might be around the lunar eclipse at 5 Pisces in late August as it focuses by T Square onto an apex Uranus.
If Donald Trump does get reelected in 2024, it should be about this time when he realises that he would not be entitled to a third term of office.
