Many of the world’s most visible astrologers are Americans.
This might be the reason why there is much discussion around the US horoscope, but little of it as objective analysis, seeing the chart as it would appear to the rest of us.
The Sun conjunct Jupiter and Venus in Cancer in the 7th house gives them the conviction that they are entitled to just walk into other people’s countries and take over.
The 7th house is the house of the other.
In a natal chart it is the area marriage and relationships. In the chart of a country, it covers their enemies whether perceived or real.
Despite the rising sign, the Cancer stellium shows an obsession with their own country and little interest in other ones, except as the object of some kind of business take over.
With Mars in Gemini in the 7th in square to Neptune in the house of abroad, they are happy to fight wars on many different fronts, usually supported by some deluded religious conviction that as God’s children, they have the divine right to do this.
What we mostly hear is from American astrologers and politicians alike is that Moon in Aquarius and Sagittarius rising, the “leaders of the free world” stuff.
Until now that is.
Now they are ruled by someone who goes straight for that Mars.
Donald Trump’s Sun and North Node are exactly conjunct the US Mars, his Moon is in even closer opposition to it.
He has no interest in all that Aquarius Moon democracy stuff.
His Sun is in the 10th house, so he simply sees invading other countries as a business opportunity.
And as Jupiter in Gemini started to move forward again after two weeks of his Presidency, he has firmly set his sights on taking over any countries whose natural or residential resources take his fancy.
Annexing Panama, Greenland and Palestine with scant regard for the people who actually live there has been seriously talked up.
But an even bigger threat has been to acquire a 51st state.
The chart for Canada has a powerful independent nation streak of its own, with that exact Sun/Uranus conjunction in Cancer.
But of course this is sandwiched between the US Sun and Jupiter, so it has always been ripe for assimilation.
The Canada Sun is also a mere minute from Trump’s Mercury (8.51 Cancer), this is presumably why he is already calling it as the 51st state and it’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau as Governor.
This summer, the US will experience its Jupiter Return. This traditionally has been a point during which America has invaded some other country.
In October 2001, in the wake of 9/11, the US invaded Afghanistan.
The previous one in 1989-90 had seen an invasion of Panama and the start of the Gulf War in Kuwait.
Astrology works symbolically, and often with extreme simplicity.
That Canada’s Sun/Uranus is at the bottom of the chart shows that the real threat to its sovereignty comes from the Borg style spaceship that is its southern neighbour.
Could this theme be triggered any time soon?
Well yes, unfortunately. There is a solar eclipse in March that falls in exact (10 minutes of arc) square to the Canada Sun.
Eclipses can often produce some kind of shock, a sudden appearance of something that has been buried beneath the surface for a while.
They are usually related to other transits that are happening.
What can we expect from this?
Transit Neptune is in square to the Canadian Moon so naturally there is a lot of uncertainty and insecurity. As this transit will be joined by Saturn for the rest of the year, there seems to be good reason for apprehension.
But while the lunar eclipse at 23 Pisces/Virgo seems specifically connected to the Saturn transit of the time, this solar one could be heralding something that will be significantly more potent when Saturn and then Neptune reach 8-9 degrees of Aries, square to the Canada Sun.
Of course we have to see this in terms of the Canadian/US synastry.
Saturn will be square to both countries Suns in 2026, so we could be seeing a foretaste of a confrontation that will occur then.
And then there will be Neptune.
Neptune is square the Canada Moon now, between 2028 and 31 it will square both Suns.
What to expect from all this?
Perhaps its useful to look at what was occurring the last time Neptune was in this position.
This coincided with the American Civil War. Canada did not yet exist as a federated nation, it was still called British North America, a combination of many separate colonies. Britain and these colonies were officially neutral for the duration of the war.
“Canadians were largely opposed to slavery, and close economic and cultural links across the long border also encouraged Canadian sympathy towards the Union. There was talk in London in 1861–62 of mediating the war or recognizing the Confederacy. Washington warned this meant war, and London feared Canada would quickly be seized by the Union army.”
Many astrologers have noted the similarities with today. The USA is still deeply divided between the Confederate and Union States, with the former being mostly responsible for Trump’s presidency.
The coming eclipse falls at 9 Aries with Neptune at 29.57 Pisces conjunct Saturn at 24.10.
In December 1861 there was another solar eclipse falling at 9.57 Capricorn with Neptune at 28.57 Pisces and opposite Saturn at 22.41 Virgo.
This eclipse fell opposite what would become the Canada Sun.
Some people might argue that since the Canada chart would not actually materialise for another decade, you couldn’t do retrospective transits to it.
I don’t agree. As Canada and the US would sit alongside each other for another 1 and a half centuries (at least) with their Suns in close proximity, this area of the Zodiac is clearly relevant to them both and major transits to them both would have an impact on their future.
“In November 1861 tensions escalated between Washington and London when an American warship stopped the British mail ship RMS Trent on the high seas and seized two Confederate diplomats. US President Abraham Lincoln defused the crisis by releasing the diplomats saying “One war at a time.” The British decided that unification of the North American colonies was now a high priority, as a new strong dominion would relieve London of the need to station large British forces to defend British North America.”
So the crisis that was triggered by this eclipse became the push to establish an independent Canada. It also moved the British away from supporting the Confederate cause.
Perhaps the current tensions between the Trumpfederacy and Canada will have a similar result.
For all the talk about a 51st state, surely the inclusion of Canada (with its record of voting for Liberal governments) would mean that there would never be a Republican President again.
Because just like in the 1860s, most Canadians would align with the Union states.
Also any attempt to annex Canada would be the final straw for foreign powers and the response would eventually ensure the end of the Trump/Musk regime.
One thing most mundane astrologers would agree on is that everything that is established would already contain the seeds of its own transformation or destruction. These would come as the result of the major transits of the slower moving planets.
Trump, Musk and the US might be basking in its Jupiter transits right now and taking aim at the whole world, but any trouble with Jupiter is always due to excess, overconfidence and arrogance which in turn creates its own indulgence and weakness that the other planets would exploit.
For Donald Trump that time is surely going to come between 2030 and 32 when both Uranus and Saturn are conjunct his Sun. At the same time they will be conjunct the US Mars so even if he manages to put aside democracy and run for a 3rd term, he will be out of it by then.
In the meantime Canada and the rest of the world has to put up with the fascist rhetoric and hope that it can contain the more absurd and naive pronouncements and prevent them actually taking effect.
Will the coming eclipse and Saturn and Neptune transits suck Canada Dry?
Well I doubt if they’ll be buying any Jack Daniel’s to go with it.
