Linear time does not exist, but paradoxically everything is tied to it.
This is because there are moments where the horizontal x axis of perceived linear time intersects with the vertical y one.
These moments are when we receive a powerful jolt from above which gives us the chance to experience our true timeless nature.
When something of our soul or essence descends and enlightens our earthly presence.
The very time of our birth is one of these, and if we are skilled enough to read the energetic quality of that moment through our birthchart, we can understand the whole process that our lives have to experience.
There are other such moments too, these can triggered by powerful transits but more likely by progressions which are the symbolic link to our true soul nature and other lives that we have lived before.
For forty of my fifty years as an astrologer, I have largely avoided secondary progressions. This is because as a triple Capricorn my raison d’être has been trying to prove astrology to a sceptical world and the simplest way to do that is to focus on verifiable events down here on earth.
So my hooves have been firmly rooted to the ground.
Over the last five years I have reacquainted myself with progressions but in a different way, as I have discovered that this symbolic measure is the one that intersects the x and y axis.
It is through progressions that we can come to an understanding of our true nature as souls and find our connections with other members of our soul group. This has opened up a whole new area for astrology – a comprehensive guide to our own past lives.
It hasn’t escaped me that this has occurred while Neptune has been transiting the last decanate of Pisces because it is just like that.
As the last sign, Pisces picks up everything that has gone through the previous 11 signs and attempts to understand this experience while at the same time letting go of it and dispersing into the great unknown.
The symbol for Pisces is the two fishes swimming in opposite directions, one back towards everyone else and the other towards the great beyond.
People who have these later degrees of the sign strong can feel as if they have one foot in this world and the other in the other one.
My focus on past life reviews has seriously gathered pace through 2025, with Saturn joining Neptune there. The articles that I have written on this subject have acquired a life of their own.
Each one seems to be even more astonishing than the last. This one is off the scale.
At the start of the year I was contacted by X who wanted a past life reading with a current life synastry report for her and her new husband. This is available as a package – https://astrologyresearch.co.uk/3b-your-soulmate-past-and-present/
X explained that they had married in March 2025, but she had been experiencing ” challenges in our relationship” because her husband Y still seemed very attached to his ex who had died 5 years earlier “and I sometimes feel the bottom priority if something related to her comes up.”
I will include the two reports in full so that readers can get a true feel of how a past life review can help someone with current life concerns.
X CURRENT LIFE SYNASTRY
The best place to start with this review is with your own chart.

You have a fascinating chart.
There is a strong Pisces quality with a Sun/Mars conjunction at the base of your chart.
Your Venus is opposite Neptune (the ruler of Pisces).
You have the Moon and Ascendant in other Mutable signs (Gemini and Sagittarius).
The Moon is the apex planet of a T square involving Saturn, Uranus and Pluto.
For you, life is a process of continual change and you have to acquire great skills around adaptability and the capacity to flow through these changes, letting go of attachments to whatever has occurred.
With the Sun in the 4th house and Moon in the 6th, these patterns would focus around family, work and possibly health as well.
With the Moon square to Uranus and Pluto in the 7th house, travel whether geographical or philosophical and spiritual would play a big role in your life and throw up a number of challenges for you.
It might seem like a coincidence that Y was born on the same day as you (7 years earlier) but it absolutely is not.

His Sun is exactly conjunct your own of course, but that is not the only powerful connection.
As he was born at a similar time of day, his Ascendant is also in Sagittarius conjunct yours.
The main aspect in his chart is the exact opposition between a 3rd house Sun and Jupiter in the 9th, showing that travel would be a powerful theme in his life.
This places his Sun near the bottom of the chart like your own.
His Venus at 20 Pisces is exactly conjunct your Mars (21 Pisces)
His Mars at 0 Gemini is conjunct your Moon (6 Gemini).
His Moon at 24 Libra is exactly sextile your Ascendant (24 Sagittarius)
This is incredibly powerful synastry and strong evidence that you and Y are soulmates.
However, it makes sense to try and analyse what we mean by this word.
A soulmate is not necessarily some kind of Prince Charming figure who waltzes into our life and whisks us off for a happy ever after.
A soulmate is someone who is an important member of our soulgroup, who comes into our lives at a time that is prearranged in order to help us with the experience that we have contracted to have in our life at that time.
This is absolutely the case for you and Y as you did not even meet until you were in your late 50s.
Because you have Mars at 21 Pisces, your Ascendant at 24 Sagittarius and your Sun at 28 Pisces, any transiting planet that runs through the last 10 degrees of any Mutable sign will trigger transits to all three of them, one after another.
This means that your experience of these periods will be more intense because of the combination.
There would have been a period of major upheaval in your childhood between 1967 and 1973 as transit Pluto opposed your Sun and Mars.
This could have involved a break up in your family or at least a significant move away from your place of birth that would have had a very big impact on your life.
Another major turning point would have been the years have been between 2002 and 2008 as Pluto was forming a square to your Sun and Mars and conjunct your Ascendant.
Since 2021 you have had transit Neptune conjunct your Sun and Mars.
This has covered the period of your relationship with Y and it is absolutely the reason why you met up with him at this later stage in both of your lives.
It is particularly appropriate because the same planet has been conjunct his Sun, Venus and Mercury.
A Neptune transit is massively important for a Piscean particularly in a spiritual sense.
We are being asked to face and deal with something that connects us with our soul and our essence, the true path of our lifetimes.
This transit has become a great deal more powerful in 2025 because it has been joined by Saturn, forming a conjunction with your Sun and Mars and Y’s Sun/Mercury/Venus.
Given that you both share a birthday, it was understandable that you chose to get married on that day.
But it also means that you have tied your marriage very powerfully to these Saturn and Neptune transits.

The chart for your wedding has the Sun conjunct Saturn and Neptune.
Your experience since then has been distinctly Saturnian.
When we have Saturn conjunct our Sun, all kinds of things come up to restrict, frustrate us and hold us back.
We are being seriously tested, often by things that have occurred in the past.
Saturn can be a hard task master but it does have your long term best interest at heart.
It brings obstacles and limitations into our path precisely because it wants us to stop and think about our past behaviour and our experience.
We are forced to question whether this mode of being is appropriate for the next major period of our lives.
With transit Saturn and Neptune conjunct both of your Suns, you are both being required to do this and to let go of your accumulated past experience.
It is a tough call and not the kind of thing you would expect to have to face in the first year of your marriage.
However, Saturn’s movement through the later degrees of Pisces would have forced you to confront these issues, maybe even starting a few weeks before the wedding, but certainly by the 2nd half of April 2025, with it conjunct both of your Suns (and the wedding Sun) it would have become a powerful theme.
Things would have been particularly difficult in September when a Solar Eclipse at 28 Virgo exactly opposite your Suns would have brought all these problems to a head a very intense way.
Since then you have both had Saturn and Neptune close to your Suns, but the good news is there is some light at the end of the tunnel.
Neptune leaves Pisces at the end of this month and Saturn is coming for its final pass over your Suns between now and early February.
There is a sense that the atmosphere between you and Y should get easier from then on, but I do believe that you both have some serious thinking to do.
I believe that your connection with Y is very strong and should be able to survive these trials with understanding on both of your parts.
I can’t say whether Y is open to astrology and willing or able to do this work putting his past behind him, but I do know that it is very important for you to.
That you are soulmates is without question but for you the most important thing from a soul perspective is your progression for the year 2026.
This is your progressed Sun in square to your Saturn.
This is asking you to question not just your current experience with Y but a pattern that has been reoccurring through many previous lifetimes.
This pattern will be described in your past life review.
This year, you have an opportunity to free yourself from this pattern, to let go of the past and release any unresolved energies that are still lingering from it.
I wish you all the best with this challenge.
X PAST LIFE REVIEW
The main reason for looking into previous lives is to try and get some kind of extra understanding around our current one.
If we operate from the logical assumption that there must have been something before that has contributed to the major aspect patterns in this life, then any proper astrological analysis of a past life would expect to have strong references to them.
So we start with your birthchart and particularly the aspect patterns in it.

Your have 7 placements in Mutable signs including the Sun, Moon and Ascendant.
Your tightest aspect is the square between the Moon in Gemini and Uranus.
Your Pisces Sun is also square to your Sagittarius Ascendant.
We therefore need to find a past life that connects with these patterns.
How can we use your current life chart to look back in time and discover a past life experience that was instrumental in forming these patterns?
If we used transits to our current life chart, this would not make sense, practically or philosophically.
When we are looking at our transits we are basically seeing how the Universe is interacting with our chart, how the patterns of a moment impact on those of the one we were born on.
This requires us to conceive of our placements and patterns as they were when we were born, so that we can assess what the Universe requires of us by way of adjustment, hence the name transits, short for transitions.
The method of Progressions requires us to look at a birthchart in a completely different way.
With progressions, we are not looking at actual planetary movements, this method is a symbolic one calculated by using the two movements of the Earth round on itself in a day and round the Sun in a year.
The word progression implies something that isn’t static, that moves on its own, so we look at our birth moment as a point in time, with a future but also a past.
Conceived of in this way, we see ourselves as something that is progressing and hopefully learning and developing through many different lifetimes.
Transits are current positions of the planets interacting with our own, progressions are our own placements moving and our life experience unfolding as we go.
Transits are “out there” impacting on “in here”.
Progressions are “in here” unfolding as we go through our lives and affecting what happens to us “out there”.
Rather than informing us of the main events in our lives as transits do, they focus on our meetings and connections with important members in our soul group.
We can use reverse progressions to see what themes we shared with these people in our past lives.
My name for this method is Regressions. By far the most important is that of the Sun.
By regression the Sun moves backwards through our chart at approximately one degree per year.
So the obvious thing would be to find a point in your past when the regressed Sun conjuncts your Moon and then goes on to oppose your Ascendant and square your current life Sun.
This takes us back to 1st December 1668.

This regressed chart has a powerful T square involving the Moon, Mars, Saturn, the Ascendant and an apex Mercury.
This Mercury is exactly sextile your current life Mars.
The regressed Sun is exactly conjunct your current Moon and square your Uranus.
The regressed Mars is quincunx your current life Sun.
But perhaps the most important of all is that the regressed Venus is back to the same place that it holds in your current chart, in opposition with Neptune.
Twenty three years later, your regressed Sun makes the last of its aspects to your Mutable placements, the square to your current life Sun.

Again we have a powerful Mutable sign focus involving 8 placements.
Venus is exactly square to Mars and Pluto
The Sun is exactly square to its current life position.
The Ascendant is exactly square to its current position.
Mercury is exactly conjunct your current Moon.
This period is clearly a very important one in your past life history and is perhaps key to understanding some of the themes that are still being explored in your current life.
I have a method of identifying someone’s birthdate in a past life which involves the regressed Sun forming an aspect with their 4th house ruler.
If we apply this to you, the regressed Sun would have been opposite your 4th ruler Neptune in December 1648, so this period of events would have occurred when you were between the ages of 20 and 43.

The regressed chart for your past life birth is quite a stressful one with a Grand Cross involving the Sun, Moon, Mars and Saturn.
Using dowsing, I have found that you were born in the city of Mashhad in Iran.
How can we use astrology to find out what was happening in your past life in the 17th century?
By using horary.
A Past Life Horary is the most important chart as it will give us the major themes of that life, particularly in terms of their relevance to our current situation.
When you request a review, this is the astrological equivalent of going for past life regression hypnotism.
We are accessing the deeply subconscious part of your brain that knows what your past life experiences were.
A horary for that moment will reproduce these in astrological code. The chart will describe your past life experience.
This is that chart.

In any horary, the chart ruler signifies the person asking the question so in a past life review it will describe you in that life.
Capricorn is rising so Saturn signifies you.
Saturn is at 26 Pisces, which is 2.5 degrees away from your own Sun. The odds against that occurring by chance is over 70/1 against and this is a powerful testimony that the horary chart is an accurate reflection of your past life experience.
It also ties this whole review powerfully to the Saturn transit that you have been experiencing since March 2025.
Saturn in Pisces makes you female in that life as well.
Saturn is in the 3rd house suggesting that sibling themes would be important.
It is conjunct Neptune, the ruler of the 3rd house, so it seems you were involved with your sister.
As Neptune is later in the sign than Saturn, she would have been older.
Neptune is at the apex of a T square based on an opposition between the Moon in the 6thhouse and Mercury in the 12th.
This looks like serious ill health, and with Neptune in the final degree of the Zodiac, it could well be pointing to the end of your sister’s life.
More information can be found by looking at your regressed solar returns for this time.
Your return for the year 1668 clearly shows these themes.

The Sun is right on the Ascendant but exactly square to Pluto in the 3rd house.
The Moon is also in the 3rd house.
Pluto is the ruler of the 8th house so we are definitely looking at the death of your sister.
Pluto’s square to the Sun and Ascendant, suggests that this event had a radical impact on your own life and particularly on your own freedom to live it as you pleased.
Given this fact, can the horary show us more?

Capricorn and Saturn all are about duty and responsibility.
With a Capricorn stellium in the 12th house and Saturn in Pisces in the 3rd signifying you, we have to conclude that your sister’s death meant that you had to sacrifice your own freedom to live your life and may have had to experience some degree of isolation.
The Moon being in the early degrees of Cancer suggests the possibility of a child being involved.
The Moon’s degree position indicates that it would be a three year old girl.
The Moon being in the 6th house and having such difficult aspects would suggest that she had significant health issues and would require a lot of care.
The Moon is the ruler of the 7th house, which is the 5th from the 3rd, so this would be your sister’s daughter, your niece.
The Moon is opposite Mercury.
Mercury is the ruler of the 9th house which is the 7th from the 3rd, so therefore would identify your sister’s husband.
Mercury being in the 12th house opposite the Moon suggests that the girl’s father would have been unable to look after her and maybe even abandoned her.
Saturn is sextile Uranus in the 5th house which indicates that you took over as your niece’s caregiver.
Saturn is separating from a trine with a retrograde Jupiter in the 7th house, which suggests that you had plans to marry, but that this change of circumstances meant that your own fiancée backed away from the engagement.
As part of this Saturnian experience, you gave up on the possibility of your own happiness and sacrificed any potential love life for the sake of your niece.
Your regressed solar return for the year 1691, has another powerful theme around death.

The Moon in Scorpio conjunct Saturn opposite Uranus in the 8th house is certainly about death.
The involvement of Uranus would mean it would have been a shock.
This opposition forms a T square with an apex Mercury in the 5th house.
We have to conclude that your niece died in 1691.
The Moon conjunct Saturn in the 2nd house indicates that this event had a financial impact on you.
I believe that because the girl’s father could not cope with his daughter he paid you to be her carer/substitute mother.
This situation even continued as the girl became an adult because her health problems meant she still needed your care.
When she died, this financial support was withdrawn.
However the Moon/Saturn/Pluto opposition is also part of a favourable Kite formation involving the Sun in the 6th house and Pluto in the 10th.
This suggests that after her death, with you in your 40s you were free to take up some independent work and this sustained you relatively comfortably.
By taking another look at the horary we can see if any of these characters are involved in your current life.

Y’s Sun is at 27 Pisces. Given that Saturn in the horary is you, it seems very likely that Neptune would be him.
Just like with Saturn and you, we are looking at odds of over 70/1 against this happening by chance. The combination of these two coming up would be over 5,000/1 against.
If Y was your sister in that previous like, we would expect a regression for December 1668 to point towards his death.

This chart does that very powerfully.
A Grand Cross with Mercury, Mars (the chart ruler) in the 12th house, Pluto in the 6th and Saturn in Scorpio in the 8th is one of the clearest indicators of death that I have ever come across.
With Mercury’s placement in Gemini, I would expect your sister/Y to have died from a respiratory illness.
The quincunx aspect between Mars and Uranus in Cancer in the 5th also seems to be pointing to her daughter being left on her own.
This chart also links very strongly with his current one.
His regressed Sun is in close opposition to his current life Saturn.
His regressed Moon is in Pisces exactly conjunct his current Mercury.
His regressed Mercury is exactly conjunct his current Mars.
His regressed Mars is exactly opposite his Pluto.
These are all extremely powerful regressions.
Y’s regressed Solar Return for the same year confirms it.

An exact Sun/Pluto square shows he died back then.
The Sun’s placement in the 3rd points to the importance of the sibling connection with you.
The Moon as 8th house ruler falling in the 5th house in tight opposition with Mars in Scorpio and focusing on an apex Saturn shows the impact that his/her death had on her daughter.
With all this I can absolutely confirm that Y was your sister who died on 1st December 1668.
Who was the daughter? Does she play a role in your current life?

The Moon in the horary (representing the daughter) is in Cancer.
It is also the ruler of the 7th house, so a marriage partner.
The Moon can’t be your husband because that signification has already been taken by Saturn.
So it looks like the Moon is referring to Y’s ex wife.

With the Sun, Mercury and Venus in Cancer, this correlation seems quite likely.
She also has the Moon in Taurus (we don’t have a birthtime so we can’t know its exact position) opposite Neptune.
Again we should regress her chart back to 1668 to check.

Again there is a powerful theme around death with the Moon in the 8th house exactly opposite Saturn.
The fact that it is the Moon, points to the death of a mother.
The Moon’s quincunx with Jupiter in Pisces in the 3rd, even seems to be pointing to you as a replacement.
The regressed Mars is also in the 8th house and is close to her current life Sun.
The regressed Venus is close to her current Neptune.
An exact solar return would not really work because we don’t know her birthtime but we can pick some general themes from it.

This is a really difficult chart with two T squares as well as a Sun/Neptune opposition.
What about a regression to the daughter’s own death in 1691?

This is even more powerful and difficult than the 1668 one.
There is a Grand Cross involving the Ascendant, the Moon in the 6th house, Jupiter and Uranus in the 8th.
Mars is also in the 8th closely opposite Saturn.
This absolutely points to her death in September 1691, with the Moon in Gemini in the 6thhouse, quite possibly of a similar respiratory illness to that of her mother/Y.
Maybe this was a genetically inherited condition, which could also explain the girl’s life long poor health.
So we can be certain that she was your niece that you sacrificed so much of your 17th century life to look after.
This was your birthchart for that life.

It is quite a challenging chart.
A conjunction of Saturn and Pluto (the 8th house ruler) in the 3rd house shows the death of your sister.
This combination opposite Uranus and Neptune forming a T square focused on an apex Mars in Virgo in the 6th portrays its impact on your life in that you spent most of it caring for her daughter.
The Ascendant and Moon in Aries in the 1st opposite Jupiter in the 7th forming another T square with an apex Sun, shows how you lost your fiancée because of the sacrifice you made.
As with any chart that contains such powerful aspects with Pluto, the planet’s transits will trigger the major traumatic events of that life.
Transit Pluto was opposite this Sun in December 1668 when your sister died.
Pluto was opposite your 10th house Venus when her daughter died and you were free to take up a career.
I believe you lived to the age of 69, dying in 1718 with transit Pluto conjunct your Mars.
I feel that with this understanding of your past life themes with Y and his ex wife, it would help to explain the current situation you are in.
It is likely that the events of this 17th century life were part of an agreement made between these souls beforehand.
It may well be that there were previous lifetimes shared with the same characters involving themes that contributed to the patterns in your chart for this life.
But in terms of setting a pattern for the lives you have led since then, the circumstances of this life seem to have played a major role.
Given the sacrifices you had to make to look after your niece, it would be understandable if there was considerable unresolved resentment on your part.
The energy around this would have caused you to have further incarnations involving both your sister and your niece, in order for you all to try and work through these patterns and learn what you needed to.
It is fascinating that you met up with your husband later in your life, married in your early 60s and are dealing with this theme now.
This tells me that you must have worked on these patterns between the three of you in the intervening lifetimes because the energy is nowhere near as strong as it would have been in the 17th century.
You feel that Y has still some feelings for his ex wife and a view of her that is creating challenges for your own marriage.
This is totally understandable and it seems inappropriate and unfair on you for him to keep bringing them up.
But perhaps the understanding that she was his daughter in a previous life and his untimely death left her without a mother, can help explain why he still has carry over from that marriage.
Maybe now, appropriately with transit Saturn conjunct both yours and your husbands’ Suns, this pattern is coming up strongly because it is giving you both a chance to let go of these patterns that have been reformulating in one form or another for the best part of 4 centuries, perhaps for good.”
All of our life themes, issues and relationships are time based, but few of us realise the extent to which they are bound up with patterns and experiences beyond this lifetime.
In order for them to be characterised in our current life birthchart, they must have come from a previous lifetime, but until now the mechanism to understand them has not been available.
It is now, so if you would like insight into your own present and past relationship, why not request a soulmate synastry package
Then you don’t have to beware the tides of March, you can learn how to surf them.
