It’s a rather pathetic commentary on modern life that the man responsible for the invention that was the single most destructive thing in human history has been now forever linked with the most innocent but superfluous piece of fluff aimed at young girls.
The obliteration of two cities and instant frying of over 350,000 people to supposedly end a war that was already over, but actually be an intimidating show of strength to another country who up to that point had been an ally ?
These are the kind of things that can happen in a Barbie world, but never mind because she has got her cute pink radiation suit on.
So rather than the brilliant film Oppenheimer provoking a serious discussion about this genocide, it has become a sideshow to one about a doll.
We are used to this kind of thing in the world of media and politics where all news is fake, but we would hope that astrological circles would be relatively free of this kind of delusion.
But as ever it’s the hope that brings despair.
The main topic of the week in astro circles is the Lion’s Gate portal, a place in the middle of Leo of ” great spiritual significance ” that has apparently been used to commune with higher beings since before the Pyramids were built.
If you own a designer yoga mat ( actual usage of mat is not necessary ) then you are probably one of the people who is ” especially sensitive ” to the opening of this portal.
It’s also a lot more likely that you will have already seen Barbie than Oppenheimer.
Capricorn Research has a built in loathing of all so called astrology concepts that apply in general rather than in specific circumstances.
The invention of the horoscope column a century ago and the annexation of our wonderful subject by a bunch of people who are only interested in making money out of it and realise that the easiest way to do that is to regularly come up with absurd notions that can be applicable to everyone in the world on the same date, has brought astrology into serious disrepute.
But with the Lions Gate portal, these people have outdone all their previous nonsensical obsessions.
So it’s all ” get ready to manifest everything you ever wished for but you better hurry up because the Mercury retrograde shadow is on the way…..”
The middle of the four Fixed signs are certainly important points in the Zodiac as they correspond to the peak of each season.
The middle of Leo is the peak of summer in the Northern Hemisphere and usually the hottest time of the year.
All ancient societies, whose peoples lives were obviously much more dominated by nature’s calendar than ours are, would have known this and considered the middle of the Fixed signs to be very important, perhaps even as much as the solstices and equinoxes.
But that does not mean that every year at that time everyone has an extra special spiritual opportunity to achieve their wildest dreams.
If it did, certainly no-one mentioned this in Japan 78 years ago.
On August 6th and 9th 1945, nuclear bombs on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, instantly wiping out hundreds of thousands of people and causing a whole generation to have serious health problems.
The chart for the Hiroshima bombing is instructive.
All of the planets are contained within a third of the Zodiac circle and the focus is on a tough Sun / Pluto conjunction right at the opening of the Lion’s Gate.
An extremely tight ( less than a quarter of a degree ) conjunction between a Cancer Moon and a profoundly unsympathetic Saturn adds to the mix.
As does a volatile Mars / Uranus conjunction with the latter exactly ( to the minute ) conjunct the Hiroshima Midheaven as that bomb fell from the sky.
The war with Japan was all but over in August 1945, the bombing was nothing to do with enforcing the Japanese to surrender, it was all about showing the watching Soviet Union who was the boss.
It goes without saying that this devastating blow / show of strength came at the hands of the good old USA.
The Mars / Uranus conjunction in Gemini that dropped the bomb on Hiroshima is there in the US chart in the 7th house of their enemies.
The US Uranus is just one quarter of a degree away from the Hiroshima Mars.
The Moon / Saturn in the bombing chart is conjunct the US Sun.
Incidentally the Sun / Pluto Lions Gate conjunction fell on the Japan ( the Meiji chart at the time ) Saturn.
It also fell on the Moon / Saturn conjunction in the Soviet Union chart.
Many people, particularly in the US would say Hirsoshima was a necessary evil because without it ” we would all be in Japanese labour camps by now “.
These same people would widely condemn Barbie as an outrageous assault on the deeply held religious conviction that all women should know their place as slaves to their men.
This is the kind of Orwellian double think that we are served up with these days.
But rather than reflect on the anniversary of this totally unnecessary genocide, every year the followers of astrology are encouraged to use the spiritual opening of the Lions gate to manifest their very own Barbie world.
It’s all harmless stuff I suppose, apart from the charge of bringing astrology into more ridicule.
I don’t really mind these new agers going on about portals and spiritual transformation.
But perhaps they should be honest that in order to actually go through one your material self has to be fried to a crisp first.
And maybe the Lion’s Gate thing has been a tad overdone.
