The Capricorn Research website contains the astrological details of many people who have been sentenced to life imprisonment for murder, even when the victims are their own family members.
But having one where the presiding judge adds “Your family, including you, have been prosecuting people here in this courtroom, and many have received the death penalty, probably for lesser conduct,” that is a first.
The guilty man Alex Murdaugh killed his wife and son ” to divert attention from his financial crimes and gain sympathy. “
” Murdaugh headed a legal dynasty that for decades had occupied a powerful place – the jurisdiction was described by some as “Murdaugh Country”.”
I don’t usually like to fill an article with background before we get to the astrology but the Murdaugh Country swamp is so deep and murky that we need get to the bottom of it before we can drain it.
So I’m just going to quote Wikipedia
” In 2015, teenager Stephen Smith was found dead from blunt force trauma on a road in Hampton County and the case ruled a hit and run with no suspects arrested. Smith was openly gay and a high school classmate of Alex Murdaugh’s oldest son, Buster. Witnesses interviewed as part of the original investigation repeatedly implicated Buster as having been involved in a relationship with Stephen, but the case went cold. “
“Rumors hinting at a cover-up and the possible involvement of one or more members of the Murdaugh family … began circulating around the Hampton County area” soon after Smith’s death and the case “reeked of insider interference”.
In June 2021, the investigation into Smith’s death was re-opened based on evidence found while investigating the deaths of Alex Murdaugh’s wife and son.
On February 2, 2018, the Murdaughs’ longtime housekeeper, Gloria Satterfield, suffered a severe head injury when she fell down the front steps at the family’s Moselle estate and died on February 26, 2018, of complications including a stroke. It had been reported as a “trip and fall” accident, but no coroner was notified, no autopsy was performed, and the death certificate, incongruously, said it was by “natural causes.” A coroner testified that describing her death on the death certificate as “natural” was improper.
Satterfield’s two sons were awarded an insurance settlement for the accidental and/or natural death, but by 2021, they had not received any money. According to multiple indictments, Alex Murdaugh, Chad Westendorf, and attorney Cory Fleming conspired to steal the Satterfields’ $4.3-million insurance policy settlement.
In February 2019, Alex’s younger son, Paul Murdaugh, was charged with three felonies, following the death of his teenage friend, Mallory Beach, in a boating accident. Paul’s blood alcohol content was .286, over three times the legal limit for operating a motor vehicle, yet, despite being the driver of the boat, Paul was not given a field sobriety test, was not taken to jail for booking, nor was he ever handcuffed. This led to the speculation that he had received special treatment by virtue of his family connections. The judge denied a prosecutorial request that he wear an alcohol monitor.
In court documents, Beach’s family implicated Alex and Buster in providing alcohol to the then-underage Paul. As of September 2021, SLED were investigating allegations that police may have been pressured not to charge Paul.
The Beach wrongful-death case began the unraveling of Alex Murdaugh’s criminal enterprise by exposing financial information that led to an inquiry into Murdaugh’s alleged financial wrongdoing.
On June 7, 2021, Alex called police from his cell phone at 10:06 pm, saying he had discovered the bodies of 22-year-old son Paul and 52-year-old wife Maggie near the dog kennels at the family’s hunting lodge located on a 1,772 acre estate in Islandton, South Carolina. Both had been shot multiple times and with different weapons.
Attorney Justin Bamberg said the total number of Murdaugh victims may be between 30 and 50, and the total amount stolen could be as high as $20 million. It is unclear where the money went.
As of March 2023, Alex Murdaugh faced a total of 102 grand jury criminal charges relating to financial fraud and drugs.”
So what kind of chart could be responsible for such a rich and varied criminality ?
This kind.
I love T Squares. There’s such simplicity and devastating power in this pattern.
Two ( or more ) opposing planets create a tension that is channeled strongly towards the apex planet(s) and the themes of that sign and house become a great focus in the person’s life.
Alex Murdaugh’s T Square involves 7 planets including all the personal ones and 6 of them are all contained within just over two degrees.
The tight apex Gemini stellium shows off the multiplicity of Murdaugh’s crimes as well and the noon chart 10th house the focus on his legal career.
The Moon in Pisces in the 7th house shows one of his many hapless victims to be his wife who was slaughtered ( opposite Uranus and Pluto ) simply to gain sympathy ( Pisces ) and distract attention from his legal crimes ( 10th house Gemini apex ).
Another important feature in Murdaugh’s chart is the Finger Of God, a pattern that is formed by two planets that are sextile each other and both are quincunx ( 150 degrees ) to a third one.
The Finger Of God is an aspect that is connected with death because it would link the Ascendant in a chart to the cusps of the 8th ( and 6th ) house.
Alex Murdaugh has two of them.
One version includes the Gemini stellium but particularly the Sun and Venus linked with Saturn and focuses on an apex Neptune in Scorpio in the 3rd pointing to a complex web of deceit.
The other is with Uranus and Neptune focusing on a nasty apex Saturn in Aries in the 8th house.
God was obviously in a bad mood that day.
And an even worse one just after his 53rd birthday ( Alex birthday that is, not God’s ).
In June 2021 when Murdaugh murdered his wife and son, the transit Pluto was creating yet another Finger Of God this time with Neptune and focusing on his natal Sun as an apex planet.
In March 2023 when he was sentenced, the transit Neptune was conjunct his Moon and square his Sun.
The time given for the Murdaugh’s was somewhere around 9.00 pm. I’ve adjusted it slightly to tighten the symbolism.
Needless to say, both Pluto and Neptune make a powerful appearance.
Pluto is opposite Mars in Cancer in the 8th house, which is pretty hard to beat for gratuitously murdering members of your own family.
Neptune is square to Mercury in Gemini right on the Descendant so not a great day to be Mrs Murdaugh.
But then this day was always coming.
I always find it interesting when a killer and their victim are born in the same year because they are likely to share some of the themes of that time.
And if God was having a bad day on the 17th June 1968, he was having an even worse one 3 months later.
Maggie Murdaugh’s Sun is exactly ( within 10 minutes ) conjunct Pluto again as part of a Mutable stellium, this time in Virgo.
This is square to an 8th house Cancer Moon so of course she is going to be bumped off by a member of her own family.
And just in case we can’t see the obvious, God has pointed the finger again.
That Sun / Pluto is sextile Neptune and both are quincunx Saturn creating yet another Yod pattern.
And transit Neptune was exactly opposite her Sun when she was murdered.
Her Yod has an apex Saturn in Aries in the 5th house of children.
Speaking of which
Maggie’s FOG apex Saturn is exactly ( at the same minute ) conjunct her son Paul’s Sun.
The chances of that connection alone are about 20,000 to 1.
Paul Murdaugh’s chart is not one of a classic victim’s.
A Sun, Moon, Jupiter combination in Aries with Mars in Scorpio suggests that he could give as good as he got.
That Mars opposite Saturn focusing by T Square onto an apex Neptune in the 7th house could be pointing to issues with relationships and introducing a flavour of both violence ( Mars ) and alcohol ( Neptune ).
Like his mother he had a heavyweight opposing his Sun when he was murdered.
While it was Neptune for Maggie, it was Pluto for Paul.
Paul’s T Square was powerfully intertwined with that of his friend Mallory who was born a mere four days later.
What would be the difference between these two charts that would make one person the tragic victim of a boating accident and the other the drunken negligent cause of it ?
First of all the fact that Mars was retrograde for both of them makes Mallory’s T Square tighter than Paul’s, 2 degrees as opposed to 3.5
Also Paul’s Venus / Pluto opposition is much tighter in Mallory’s chart ( 3 degrees compared to 8 ) and she has the Moon in there as well.
So the main difference is between Paul’s Moon in Aries which would be the driver of the boat and Mallory’s Moon in Gemini opposite Pluto, the unfortunate victim.
Particularly when you factor in the time of the incident.
The Moon and Mars at the time are sitting right on that Mars / Saturn opposition in both Paul and Mallory’s charts.
Mars is conjunct Uranus which is a powerful significator of accidents.
And the Sun is squaring the Venus / Pluto of both of them.
It’s interesting that this incident and the cover up that followed was an important step towards Paul’s own murder at the hands of his father.
Even though Pluto is 2 degrees away from square to his Sun, it would be fair to say this transit was beginning to have an effect.
It’s conjunction with Venus not only describes the friends’ ( possibly even lovers ) tragedy but also provides the link that brings Pluto to square Paul’s Sun.
Unfortunately there is no birthdate for Alex Murdaugh’s surviving son Buster apart from the fact that he was born in 1996.
This means there is a pretty good chance of placing his Saturn in the later degrees of Pisces in square to Alex’s Gemini stellium and opposite his mother’s Virgo Sun.
It doesn’t help us to decide whether Buster was responsible for the death of his schoolmate and possible lover Stephen Smith as we don’t have his birthdate either.
We do have chart for the date of the murder though and that is horrific enough although we can say that the Saturn in this chart would have been conjunct the Pluto of both boys.
And Pluto does seem to be doing the damage here.
It opposes the Cancer stellium, with a particularly tight aspect with Mars.
This opposition focuses onto a T Square apex Uranus which in the 7th house of the noon chart suggests that this was a violent death occurring within an unusual relationship.
Venus in Leo in exact square to Saturn in Scorpio seems to be confirming this observation.
Another victim that we have no birthdate for is Gloria Satterfield apart from the fact that she was born in 1982.
The main slow moving planet theme of that year was the Saturn / Pluto conjunction in late Libra.
The chart for her death does seem to say accidental fall rather than murder.
There are no super heavy aspects like all the others in this article, but there is the Moon in Virgo opposite Neptune.
Given this Moon falls in the noon chart 5th house, its pretty sure that Gloria’s sons ( 5th house ) would be fiddled ( Neptune ) out of their inheritance ( Moon ).
And given that Neptune in late Sagittarius in Satterfield’s natal chart was opposite Alex Murdaugh’s Gemini stellium it was always likely that he would benefit from her demise.
The Murdaugh murders has been the subject of a Netflix crime docuseries. Whether it can do justice to the bizarre goings on in South Carolina remains to be seen.
One thing for sure, the astrology of this story certainly does.
There are many places in the world that claim to be God’s own country.
Murdaugh country could certainly be fingered for one of God’s many bad days.
