The Role Of Uranus In The Recent History Of Turkish Earthquakes

In the current climate, its probably best that I preface this article with a warning.

If you are a sensitive soul that is likely to be triggered by a robust article that proves an astrological influence over tragic events, I would advise you to stop reading now.

If, on the other hand, you wish to come to some kind of understanding about things that are difficult for humanity to accept and process, please feel free to continue.

Some people believe the subject of Astrology is signified by Aquarius. My own research finds this to be unfounded, see Is Astrology An Aquarian Discpline ?

There is however a significant focus on the 11th house which might explain it, particularly as so many people these days seem to be obsessed with conflating signs and houses.

But either way you have to admit that the recent Aquarius / Leo Full Moon has been a massive one in our world.

There have been two remarkably similar themes, both involving a single astrologer taking a stand against the prevailing hegemony of the day and receiving a massive kicking for their troubles.

One was being vilified by followers of her own subject, simply for the crime of making an observation from her own expertise and comprehensive experience, the other from the staunch defenders of “ science “.

While I enjoy watching a decent astrological argument, I have to admit that I’m relatively uninterested in what some Middle Eastern bloke had to say 2000 years ago.

For me research is not spending nearly 7 hours whining on about other people’s opinions.

I am fascinated by the astrology of real earthquakes.

The second astrologer referred to above is Frank Hoogerbeets who accurately predicted the recent earthquake in Turkey and Syria even including its expected score on the scale.

I don’t profess to specialise in geophysical astrology like Frank, but I immediately knew what he was basing his prediction on.

Before I make any comments about the above chart, I feel I have to express my deepest sympathy for the people of Turkey and Syria who have incurred appallingly catastrophic losses and suffering.

To look at the astrology of this event does not in any way diminish or deflect from this suffering. It is purely an attempt to come to some kind of understanding of the natural forces that were behind it.

A couple of general points first.

The middle point ( 15 degrees ) of the Fixed signs falls right in the middle of each season and these are said to be the most concentrated and even entrenched points of the Zodiac. They are places of great power.

There is also a connection between these degrees and the planet Earth itself.

Uranus is the planet of change, a sudden bolt from the blue that can cause much disruption particularly when it receives challenging aspects.

Putting these ideas together there has often been a connection made between Uranus, Fixed Signs and earthquakes.

In the chart for the tragedy in Gaziantep, Uranus is at exactly 15 degrees of Taurus ( the Fixed Earth sign ) and is also the focal point of a T Square involving the Sun in Aquarius and the Moon in Leo.

In fact this quake occurred a mere few hours after the Full Moon.

This is exactly the kind of lethal combination geophysical astrologers would have been looking for. They would have probably been aware of its coming for a few months as well.

The last lunar eclipse in November was a really difficult one.

It included an exact conjunction with the Moon and Uranus and a T Square to an apex Saturn for good measure.

Eclipses have long been associated with bad news for natural phenomena.

The evidence so far presented would be enough to persuade most astrology followers of the cause of all earthquakes and many would be preparing to sign up to some kind of cult that would hold that no other placements could do so.

Whilst being impressed with the above charts, Capricorn Research would still require more evidence of such a link before making such bold statements.

Fortunately there is plenty more evidence.

Uranus has a cycle of 84 years, which means that it will cover a quarter of the Zodiac in roughly 21 years.

Turkey has a long history of earthquakes, most of them are fairly small. Every one of them has seen casualties and destruction but none with over a 1,000 lives lost since 1999.

The Izmit quake of 1999 registered 7.6 on the scale and saw over 17,000 people killed. It is the last one that could be even remotely considered alongside the current one in terms of fatalities.

Note that Uranus is at 14.27 degrees of Aquarius ( another Fixed sign ). This is the last time that Uranus was at such a degree.

Uranus is also opposite the Sun and it forms part of a horrific Fixed Grand Cross including Saturn in Taurus and Mars in Scorpio.

It also occurred just a few days after a Solar Eclipse.

I remember this eclipse well. It was one of the toughest I’d ever seen.

The Grand Cross was very tight, all 5 planets were contained within 4 degrees of the Fixed signs and the opposition between Mars and Saturn was a mere two minutes of arc.

So exactly the same features for the two most powerful earthquakes occurring in the region over the last 80 odd years.

The Erzincan earthquake of 1939 registered a massive 7.8 and slaughtered over 32,000 people.

This occurred one whole Uranian cycle ago ( approximately 84 years ) with the planet again featuring in the middle of Taurus.

Again we have a Full Moon ( Capricorn to Cancer ).

This one also involves Pluto as its in exact opposition to Venus as part of a T square with Saturn.

This region has a lot of earthquakes but in order to keep this article from lasting until the next one happens, I will restrict it to the ones that have killed a thousand or more people over the last century. There have been 7 of those, here they are in order of destructive power.

The Gerede Earthquake was 7.5 and almost 4,000 people died.

We have another Fixed sign T square, this time with the Sun opposite Pluto and focusing onto an apex Taurus Moon.

Uranus is also involved in conjunction with Mars.

Just over a week later there was a Lunar Eclipse again in the middle of the Fixed signs.

This eclipse would also have been the closest one to the Ladik quake about 10 weeks previously.

The Ladik quake also measured 7.5 and somewhere between 3,000 and 5,000 people were said to have lost their lives.

A Sun / Uranus opposition for this one continues the theme.

Muradiye was another 7.5 with an estimated 4,000 lives lost.

Here Uranus is again in a Fixed sign, and opposite the Ascendant at the time of the quake.

The Sun is exactly conjunct Mars.

This one was a fortnight after another Lunar Eclipse.

This eclipse fell again at 15 degrees of the Fixed signs and Uranus was part of the powerful Scorpio grouping at the time.

The Erbaa quake of 1942 scored only 7.0 but killed 3,000 people.

The chart has Uranus rising in close conjunction with the Moon and Saturn in opposition with Mars.

Again the Uranian connection in the following year’s eclipse with the planet falling at the apex of a T square.

The Hakkari quake measured between 7.2 and 7.5 having killed over 2,500 people.

Uranus is conjunct Mars here and at the apex of a nasty T Square involving Saturn and Pluto.

The Sun is at 15 Taurus, right on that earthquake degree.

Hakkari occurred just a week after a Taurean eclipse.

The T Square apex Uranus is still there of course.

The Gediz quake registered 7.2 and over 1,000 people lost their lives.

Again there is a Uranus connection, closely opposite the Sun.

The Duzce quake ( 7.2 with nearly a thousand dead ) occurred a few months after the Izmit one and would still be linked to the horrible August eclipse.

The chart for the event again includes a Sun / Uranus aspect – the square as part of a tough T Square with Saturn, Uranus being the apex.

The Saturn / Uranus square is extremely tight and this falls again right in the middle of Fixed signs.

Although it only killed 250 odd people there is one more I would like to reference, the Yenice quake of 18 March 1953. This is purely because of the eclipse that year.

About as volatile as they come with Sun, Moon, Mars and yet again Uranus all crammed together within a degree and very close to the Ascendant.

So time and again, these earthquakes come up with a very powerful Uranus connection usually with the Sun but also sometimes with Mars.

The Fixed signs are dominant and the middle degrees are outrageously so.

The nearest eclipse to the events seems to give a clear warning.

I could try and calculate the odds of all this occurring by chance but we would definitely be in the region of millions to one against.

It has been incredibly sad watching people desperately trying to drag their loved ones out from under thousands of tons of rubble in Turkey and Syria.

The parallels with many trying to do the same for their own much loved theories of Hellenistic astrologer Vettius Valens are poignant.

One thing that might help here is to realise that Valens was himself an Aquarian with Uranus rising.

And this Full Moon fell right on his own Sun.

Valens was actually born in Antioch, not far from the Turkish city of Antakya, a mere 200 kilometres from the tragic city of Gaziantep.

And just 4 years before his birth there was an earthquake in his home town too. This one was one of the biggest in the country’s history.

Uranus was at 19 Leo at the time, intriguingly exactly opposite Valens’ Sun, so it seems that all these earthquakes whether astrological or geophysical are inextricably connected.

Many competing claims are made for the great man, but one thing we do know for sure is that Valens couldn’t have predicted most of these earthquakes as Uranus wouldn’t be discovered for another 1600 years.

But another thing that is equally sure. If Vettius Valens had been aware of Uranus he would certainly have used it, not least to warn his people of any coming quakes.

So thats it then, yet another piece clearly demonstrating the incredible power of astrology to shape the actual verifiable events that occur on Earth.

Anyone reading this should be gobsmacked by these findings, but I have long since got used to a variety of responses that are underwhelming, to say the least.

If your response to this article is “ how dare you write about such a tragedy “  you are not actually sensitive at all, merely using it as a justification for your own anger issues and a hypocrite for ignoring the warning at the beginning.

If your response is “ how dare you write such a piece that defies modern science “ you are not a real scientist, you are just using this as a denialist defence mechanism.

If on reading this powerful proof of your own subject, your response is “ how dare you criticise Valens and Whole Sign Houses “  you are not a serious astrologer.

If any of the above apply to you, don’t waste my time or your own by responding.

This article is written for the rest of you.

One final postscript. I realise that this article might reach an audience that does not know me – so here’s a bit of biography.

As a Sun, Moon and Ascendant Capricorn, I have spent the last 50 years climbing the mountain of astrology research, often guided by faulty compasses to reach paths that are impassable. It took me 40 years to reach the peak and to find the stone tablets.

Up to that point I never spoke, wrote or tweeted publicly about the subject, just worked with a small number of dedicated clients.

With the Moon in the 12th and by Equal House the Sun as well, I don’t seek guru status. I don’t need 100,000 followers, I’m content with 1,000 serious ones.

I also don’t need the money. If I was ever in need I would simply bet on my predictions.

Astrology has given me so much wonder and beauty in my life that I simply feel compelled to share this work with anyone who is interested.

In the last decade I have published about a thousand articles detailing my discoveries. I give them all here for free, I don’t put any behind a paywall.

I also don’t need to come over as some kind of fundraising hero.

I assume that any of my readers who wished to donate money as aid to the Turkish earthquake survival effort would have already done so.
