The Short, High And Blissful Life Of Jessica Dubroff

It seems that the latest thing for everyone to worry about is the “ absolute inevitability “ that AI will take all our jobs.

Astrologers like me would be the first to be culled, with Chat GPT instantly able to craft a sarcastic, Astro – Marxist diatribe claiming how two apparently unconnected things are in fact just exactly that.

But I’m not bothered.

I am inherently sceptical about most things to do with modern life and would take these concerns with a large pinch of salt.

People have been similarly worried for decades that robots and computers would take all their jobs, but that hasn’t happened.

We might not make anything anymore but so many of us have found lucrative employment to be had simply through voicing our opinions about stuff.

If AI can write our opinions too, we will just have to find something else to waste away our days on this peculiar planet.

One young person who never wasted a moment was Jessica Dubroff.

Jessica was an ” American pilot at the age of seven, aiming to be the youngest pilot to cross the U.S. when she crashed in Cheyenne, WY 4/11/96, killing her, her dad and flight instructor Joe Reid. Her Cessna Cardinal was fitted with extensions for her feet to reach the pedals and a booster seat. It was overloaded and the weather was bad. When they took off at 8:23 AM, the plane seemed to struggle, falter, and fall.

Jessica had an unconventional upbringing with “New-Age” type parents who were separated but both full-time and caring. She had not been to school but was tutored at home, no TV or kid’s toys or books, a vegetarian, taught to forge her own way and reach for the stars. Jessica began flying lessons in January, 1986 and had logged 35 hours when she began her planned flight from Half Moon Bay, CA to Falmouth, MA.

The record of coast-to-coast flight by a kid had last been set in 1988, the year of Jessica’s birth, by nine-year-old Tommy Aliena in a national flight. The crash had a great deal of bad publicity from people who thought that the parents acted irresponsibly in encouraging the little girl to pursue an ambition that seemed more adult than child-like. Her mother responded that she was “following her bliss.”

Perhaps the best way to test AI would be to enter that short biography and see what birthchart it could create to describe Jessica’s short but undoubtedly high life.

You would certainly expect Jupiter and the 9th house to make a big appearance.

Mars would be strong and with the sudden death, Pluto would be lurking.

The unconventional upbringing would be the Moon with Uranus, the accusations of parental neglect could connect it with Saturn.

The tragedy happening at the age of 7 sounds suspiciously like a Saturn transit.

Something like this.

I don’t know how many times I have to say it, but a T Square in someone’s chart will always show the major themes of their life.

The apex planet and its sign and house will point to a direction which should and will take more energy than all the others.

Jessica’s Sun is conjunct Jupiter.

Her apex planet is Mars, it’s in the 9th house of long journeys. It’s in Aquarius, an Air sign.

The main tension in her chart is the Sun’s opposition with Pluto.

All these features could easily describe a great adventurer who would become besotted with air travel but tragically meet her end in this way.

Her Moon is exactly conjunct Uranus which accounts for the unconventional parents and upbringing.

It’s also conjunct Saturn.

As ruler of her 8th house, Saturn’s conjunction with her Moon is saying that it’s this unusual childhood that causes her early death.

This is confirmed by the fact that it happened when transit Saturn was exactly square her Moon.

And transit Pluto is opposite her ruling planet, Mercury

The chart for the moment of Jessica’s death contains so many of the themes that were there in her natal one.

The Moon is again conjunct Uranus in Aquarius in the 9th house, a placing that has already been linked to flying.

It is also tightly in aspect to Saturn.

Mars is again very powerful in its own sign and again square to Jupiter right on the 9th house cusp.

Gemini is again rising with Venus.

Pluto is right opposite the Ascendant confirming the exact moment Jessica was destined to meet her tragic end.

Jessica’s Dad was also killed

We don’t have a birthtime for Lloyd Dubroff so we can’t use houses but we can see that there are many similar features.

The chief one is the Sun being opposite Pluto.

Lloyd’s Sun is also in aspect to Mars ( sextile ).

He has the Moon and Venus in Sagittarius

His Moon is also in aspect to both Saturn ( trine ) and Uranus ( quincunx ).

Lloyd’s Sun is in trine with Neptune.

The house position of Neptune must be significant because it was transiting conjunct his Sun when he took his daughter on that fateful trip.

His progressed Sun was also opposite Neptune, so delusion would be at its peak.

What about her Mum ?

Like her daughter, Lisa Blair Hathaway has a T Square involving Mars and Jupiter.

The opposition is wide at 10 degrees but they are brought closer by the fact that the apex Moon and Neptune are in between them.

Lisa’s Moon is conjunct Neptune which could explain an overly idealistic approach to parenting which maybe contributed to her daughter’s death.

Like Lloyd, it was transit Neptune that caused the accident.

If an outer planet is involved in a major aspect pattern with a personal placement, its next transit to that pattern will act as a powerful trigger for the natal theme.

Lisa Blair Hathaway lost her daughter and ex husband when transit Neptune was back in the T square, in square aspect to itself and her Moon and opposite her Jupiter and Uranus.

While Jessica Dubroff’s life was cut tragically short, perhaps it’s better to live a brief life while pursuing your dream.

Would she have been happier living a smaller, narrower but longer life ?

Maybe not.

AI works by instantly scanning everything that has been written on a subject and plagiarising the results.

So in this brave new world, parents will be able to find out exactly what are the chances of their newborn being killed piloting a plane at the age of seven while they are castigated by the world’s media for their naive and neglectful childrearing.

But one thing it couldn’t do is imagine what Jessica Dubroff’s life would have been like if her parents had made that enquiry and decided not to enrol her into flying lessons.

With Sun in Taurus conjunct Jupiter, Venus rising in Gemini in trine to Mars, Jessica would in all likelihood have grown to be a stunningly attractive young lady.

But with that 9th house Mars square Pluto and the exact 7th house Moon / Uranus / Saturn, it’s quite likely that she would have been murdered by a jealous foreign suitor.

AI couldn’t have predicted that.

But it can now. Dammit.
