Reluctantly I had to admit that if by dead you included brain dead politicians, this observation was mostly true.

I was reminded of this the other day when my wife pointed out to me that writing endless articles about the late Queen Elizabeth and Liz Truss wasn’t really doing justice to the breadth of female lived experience.

So as she is currently reading about Xaviera Hollander ( my wife that is, not either of the two Lizzie’s ) she asked me to look into the astrology of this extraordinary character.

So what kind of astrology would we expect for someone like her ?

The one thing that we can be sure of with a chart like this is that whatever this person does, she has tremendous curiosity and will do a great deal of it wishing to taste widely from the fruit of experience, never settling for too long with any one activity or person.

She would also be a thinker and communicator of quite radical ideas, owing to her ruling Mercury being conjunct Uranus.

However if you want to know about someone’s personal life and the way they conduct themselves sexually and in relationship you have to check out their Moon, Venus and Mars.

Mars rules the expression of sexual desire, in its own sign Aries this is raw, powerful and insistent. It simply has to find a target.

It works very strongly on its own, unlike Mars in Water signs it doesn’t require any kind of emotional connection or in Air signs a communication or in Earth signs some time to build up a head of steam.

Mars in Aries is instantly aroused. A person with this placement will probably get easily bored as well so particularly with all that Gemini would not wish to stay the night, she would be off in the search of fresh conquests.

As this Mars is in the 10th house, it is very likely that this energy would be turned into a career.

The Moon is in Scorpio, the most sexually aware of all signs ( even if much of it is usually hidden from view ). In the 5th house of recreation and love affairs, it’s clear that Xaviera would be deeply committed to having a fun time.

Venus is in Leo conjunct Pluto and square to the Scorpio Moon is a combination that would turn this commitment into a full blown addiction.

Venus in the 2nd house shows that this lifestyle would certainly generate a profit.

Jupiter also in the 2nd house would indicate that this would be a handsome profit.

By the time she was in her late twenties, Xaviera Hollander decided to become ” not just a madam, but the best in New York “.

While square aspects in a person’s chart usually provide the fuel to activity in their life because they create a challenge that has to be resolved, trine aspects will generally point to energies that the person is completely comfortable with and finds an ease of expression.

So Mars in Aries in the 10th in trine to Venus in Leo in the 2nd points to a fiery sexual nature that will inevitably fuel a business and provide a decent income, but it also suggests that the person would find the expression enjoyable and their experience of it would be generally favourable.

In describing all this, it is important not to think of it as an astrological commentary on prostitution.

In fact my Research Into Sex Work generally portrays it as a much more Capricorn like business and the most common aspects involving Mars are the conjunctions with Saturn and Neptune, suggesting that for most it is a harsh and difficult occupation where people scrape a living because they have to.

But Xaviera Hollander’s chart shows that she was indeed the Happy Hooker.

It’s interesting that a lot of similar themes came up in the chart for an English TV show starring Billie Piper as an upmarket sex worker who certainly enjoyed her trade.

Pluto was sextile to her Venus.

Interestingly the most difficult placement in Hollander’s chart is Saturn right on the Ascendant.

I often find that planets close to the Ascending degree can have a very powerful impact in the early years of the person’s life.

This was indeed the case here as she was born in a Japanese prisoner of war camp in Indonesia. She was separated from her father ( Saturn conjunct the Sun ) until the age of 2 as he was incarcerated and tortured in a separate camp.

Once this experience was over, however she claimed to have a very happy, open and free childhood which enabled her to begin her sexual adventures at a young age.

Xaviera Hollander was extremely good at giving her punters exactly what they wanted while shagging them senseless.
