Doing The Lord’s Work – Using Horary To Understand A Past Life

As a young child I was constantly being admonished by parents and teachers to “Do the Lord’s work” without really being given any clear idea of what that work was.

By the age of 13 I was becoming a smartarse and responding with “Why? Is he too lazy to do it himself?”.

I soon realised that none of these people had the first clue as to who this Lord actually was, and certainly no conception of his job description. The fact that his work seemed to correspond very closely with their own interests convinced me that he didn’t exist either, a conclusion that I held for another 7 years.

Until the Lord himself actually told me what his work was.

This was the moment 50 years ago this week that I first discovered astrology. I was visiting a friend at University and a mate of his handed me As Above, So Below by Alan Oken.

Like everyone else that reads their first astrology book, I went straight to my own Sun sign.

I was both horrified and totally convinced that it was all true. Even more so when I discovered that not only was my Sun sign the most uncool one in the book but I had it as Moon and Ascendant sign as well.

But I instantly saw that astrology knew me in a way that nothing or no-one else ever had.

My own T Square has Ascendant at 28 Capricorn, Jupiter and Uranus at 27 Cancer and an apex Neptune at 28 Libra.

And transit Uranus was right on it at the time.

It also seemed entirely appropriate that the Grand Trine was in material houses because this moment was effectively the start of my career. Even though Saturn’s dominance of the chart from the 10th with the conjunction with the South Node meant it would take a long time and a hell of a lot of work to make that happen.

The Sun/Jupiter conjunction in Aquarius in the 6th house is as close a description of the Lord’s work that I can imagine.

But this work bears as much relation to the exhortations of my youth as quantum physics does to the nine times table.

Because astrology is a quantum science. It isn’t confined by the ordinary cause and effect world that imprisons most people’s minds. It operates in the realm of symbolic correspondences, where all things that exist in one moment are connected and can exchange their energies simultaneously over vast distances.

And the real wonder about all of this is that it can be perfectly comprehended by human beings using a very simple method and structure.

Natal astrology can be conceived of as a pattern similar to DNA. Our charts reveal something that we carry with us and have inherited from our parents.

But that doesn’t explain how horary works.

Horary is the true quantum physics. A thought or question materialises in someone’s mind at exactly the moment it is meant to and it can be answered by looking at the pattern made by the planets hundreds of millions of miles away at that precise moment.

I have written many articles about the important distinction between horary and natal astrology.

They are different subjects with a completely separate mode of operation.

Horary is divination. A question chart is not confined to one person. Only one planet in that chart represents the person asking the question. The others (if relevant) will represent other people or things involved in the situation.

The only way to identify who these planets might be in the querent’s life, is by planetary rulership. This is how horary is done.

To confuse this with a natal chart is absurd.

If you have the Sun in Taurus in the 7th house, this would say a lot about how you function in long term relationships. The fact that the Sun rules the 10th house of career has got absolutely nothing to do with it.

So planetary rulership is only applicable to horary, it has no significance in natal charts.

Horary is the Lord’s work, natal astrology is not.

To answer a horary question we check out the Lord of the Ascendant and its relation to the Lord of the house in question.

There are no limits imposed. The question can be about anything that ever occurred or ever could occur.

If we apply its own rules to the above chart, the Ascendant Lord is Mercury in Pisces in the 6th house in square to Neptune in Sagittarius in the 3rd, which is about as infinite as any astrology pairing can be.

Horary’s application is only limited by the conception of the person asking the question.

People usually ask questions about their life, but they could equally ask about all their lives.

My latest astrological offering has come half a century after the moment this chart was produced but it feels totally appropriate to that Mercury (which falls conjunct my own natal Mars).

My recent discovery of Secondary Regressions has enabled me to see into a past life in order to get an insight into the patterns that are being carried over into this one. It is a quantum leap to the exact moment the events that tie into those patterns occurred.

This is the timing measure. Regressed Solar Returns and Horary are the methods used to describe these events.

Horary is particularly effective because it can allow you to jump easily beyond this life.

I have found it works especially well when looking for the connections between players in our current life and their roles in our past ones.

Here is an example of a recent one done for a pair of clients.

This is a life that two people who are friends in this one, shared in the past. The pivotal regression date was 1699. I have reproduced (with permission) the horary and what I wrote about it in their review.

“As the person asking, C would be represented by the chart ruler, Uranus in the 4th house.

So the focus here is on family and C is likely to be playing a parent role. As Uranus is in a female sign (Taurus), I am assuming that she is a mother.

E as C’s friend would be signified by the 11th ruler which is Jupiter.

Jupiter is also in Taurus in the 3rd house, applying to conjunct Uranus.

So from this I can see that E was C’s daughter.

Both planets imply movement and change so it looks like they moved away from their home.

As Jupiter is in the 3rd house, it looks like a sibling was involved.

This past life review was requested at the recent Full Moon and Jupiter is at the apex of a T square formed by it.

This indicates that E was under serious attack.

The Sun/Moon opposition falling from the 6th to the 12th suggests a threat to both C and E’s health.

The Sun rules the 7th, so it looks like this threat might have been coming from C’s husband.

But the Sun is not E’s 4th house ruler, so this man was not her father.

The Sun has separated from a conjunction with Pluto, which seems to suggest that C’s husband (and E’s father) had died 5 years previously, and that she had remarried.

The Sun being in the sign of its detriment and in the 12th house with its opposition to the Moon suggests that her new husband was a secretive man whose intentions were threatening to both C and E.

Given the 3rd house involvement, I’m going to suggest that they were from a culture where there was a tradition that if a wife’s husband died, she would be forced to marry his brother. I believe this happened against C’s will.”

Looking at E’s regressed Solar Return for the year 1699 I saw that

” A close Venus and Mars conjunction in Capricorn opposite Uranus in the 8th indicates a sudden, unexpected sexual assault coming from an older man.

C had been in a dangerous situation with her second husband for some time, and had become accustomed to being on the receiving end of his abuse, but once he started to attack E, she had to get away from him.

An important part of this whole experience is the fact that it is triggered by C’s regressed Sun being conjunct her Venus in Pisces in the 9th house.

This suggests an escape via a long journey, there is also the sense of a religious retreat.

I believe that C and E escaped from the husband and travelled (probably on foot) about 500 miles ( from Marivan in Kurdistan where they were born) to Istafan in Iran/Persia, where they found a safe haven in a Christian convent in the Armenian quarter of the city.”

Using Secondary Regressions, I found that E had been born in 1688, making her 11 years old at the time of the assault from her stepfather.

On receiving the Past Life Review, E responded –

“I really felt a connection to this regression. I knew C when I first saw her. And there is a nurturing aspect to our relationship.

The aspect I find most interesting is the dangerous step father. I had a dangerous one growing up and would be curious if that shows up in my chart in this lifetime. When I was 11 he was at his worst, we were living in Mexico and he deeply resented the time my brothers and I took away from his time with my mother. I developed asthma around that age. Couldn’t breathe. So fascinating”

I asked E to give me the date of birth of her step father in this life.

Regressing his chart back to 1699, it was clear that he was also the evil step father who abused E back then.

But the horary could have told us that anyway. We just have to apply the Lords’ work.

To see the chart from E’s perspective we have to turn it so that the 11th house cusp becomes the Ascendant.

If we are looking to find her stepfather in this chart we have to take the 7th (husband) from the 4th (mother). Applying that from the 11th takes us to the 8th house in the chart.

The lord of the 8th is Mercury.

Mercury is conjunct Mars in the 11th or in E’s 1st house.

So E’s stepfather (Mercury) is performing an act of sexual aggression (Mars) on E’s body (1st house).

In any horary, the Moon will always tell us what will happen next, even if it’s referring to a past life.

The Sun as 7th lord is C’s husband.

The Sun is about to form a square to Jupiter, so the danger to E is close and severe.

The Moon, however is in between them, separating from an opposition with the Sun and applying to a square with Jupiter.

In some horaries the Moon can signify a third party that helps something come to fruition, but in this one it is simply another planet representing C.

Here the Moon (C) collects Jupiter (E) and takes her further away from the Sun (the stepfather).

C and E escaped the danger inherent in their family and fled in order to spend the rest of their lives doing the Lord’s work.

It has been 50 years since my As Above So Below moment.

In all that time I have been engaged in astrology research with a specific focus on verifiable events in the lives of famous people. This website is testimony to this research and I have proved beyond any possible doubt that astrology works.

I have been “rendering unto caesar, that which is caesar’s”.

A much more difficult challenge is to prove reincarnation and my method for understanding the themes that recur between lives. But that is now my triple Capricorn mountain path.

For the reminder of my life, I too will focus more on doing the Lord’s work.
