The greatest gift that you can offer your kids is a good understanding of their natal charts.
Most people would say that they treat their children as individuals and not just as an extension of themselves, but in practice they still see them as a blank sheet that they can lead in directions that they believe are positive ones.
They don’t understand that their kids come ready made with their own patterns and that there’s a very good chance that those themes involve rebelling against those of their parents.
If you understand the patterns of your child’s chart, particularly their synastry with your own, only then can you be really sure that you truly have their own best interest at heart.
That sounds like a very confronting statement, but without an understanding of their charts, how can you know for sure what their best interests are?
But even this understanding is limited. What we really need to know as parents is why our children have brought these patterns into our world.
And for that we need to go back before they were even conceived.
A client of mine has 3 year old twins, a boy and a girl. As they were born within a minute of each other, there is no discernible difference between their charts.
They have the Moon conjunct Neptune in Pisces in the 4th house which indicates powerful family themes of a spiritual nature.
This conjunction is opposite Mercury in Virgo and forms a T Square with an apex Mars in Gemini in the 8th house.
Mars is the co-ruler of the chart, the very fact that it is in Gemini is fascinating considering they are twins.
This apex Mars will represent the most important themes of their lives.
It’s a complex T Square, so it is unwise to try and predict how it might unfold over the coming years but it is important to keep it in mind. Fortunately their mother is not only well versed in astrology, she is also convinced that the subject can reveal their past lives.
She contacted me a week ago because she had a strong sense that her twins were in the 1906 Earthquake in San Francisco, possibly as a reincarnation of her great grandmother who survived it.
She was aware that transit Pluto at the time of the earthquake was at 21 Gemini, exactly conjunct the twins’ apex Mars.
“The San Francisco Earthquake with an estimated magnitude of 7.9 struck the coast of Northern California at 05:12 AM on Wednesday, April 18, 1906.
Devastating fires soon broke out in San Francisco and lasted for several days. More than 3,000 people died and over 80% of the city was destroyed. The event is remembered as the deadliest earthquake in the history of the United States. The death toll remains the greatest loss of life from a natural disaster in California’s history and high on the list of worst American disasters.”
Earthquakes often have a Uranian signature and there is usually some emphasis on the IC of the place on earth where they occur.
This event is obviously indicated by the extremely tight T square between Uranus, Neptune and an apex Mercury. Neptune at the IC in San Francisco literally shows the ground breaking up under people’s feet.
My client wanted me to apply my methods to her twins’ chart to see if they backed up this intuition of hers.
The method I use is one that I discovered myself and call Regressions, a kind of reverse Secondary Progressions.
In a recent article L Gets Her P’s, I explain the difference between progressions and transits.
“If we operate from the logical assumption that there must have been something before that has contributed to the major aspect patterns in this life, then any proper astrological analysis of a past life would expect to have strong references to them.
But how could we find these references?
If we used transits to our current life chart, this would not make sense, practically or philosophically.
When we are looking at our transits we are basically seeing how the Universe is interacting with our chart, how the patterns of a moment impact on those of the one we were born on.
This requires us to conceive of our placements and patterns as they were when we were born, so that we can assess what the Universe requires of us by way of adjustment, hence the name transits, short for transitions.
The method of Progressions requires us to look at a birthchart in a completely different way.
With progressions, we are not looking at actual planetary movements, this method is a symbolic one calculated by using the two movements of the Earth round on itself in a day and round the Sun in a year.
The word progression implies something that isn’t static, that moves on its own, so we look at our birth moment as a point in time, with a future but also a past.
Conceived of in this way, we see ourselves as something that is progressing, and hopefully learning and developing through many different lives.
Transits are current positions of the planets interacting with our own, progressions are our own placements moving and our life experience unfolding as we go.
Transits are “out there” impacting on “in here”.
Progressions are “in here” unfolding as we go through our lives and informing what happens to us “out there”.
This is precisely why we can use them in reverse to see what was happening to us in our past lives.”
Hence the use of Regressions.
I will include excerpts from my Past Life Review for her.
“Your question is very simply answered. We just apply my discovery of astrological regression to their chart. If the Sun makes significant aspects to this Mars then they were in San Francisco in 1906.
Their regressed Sun is 22.12 Gemini, a mere two minutes from their current life T square apex 8th house Mars.
The orb is so tight that the odds against this happening by chance are over 5,000/1 against.”
I feel it’s important to give the odds against something occurring because it’s very easy to read astrology articles without fully comprehending the utterly staggering truth that they contain.
When we look at a chart from a progressed/regressed perspective we are seeing this life as just one of a journey through many.
We have to look at the whole chart circle as time itself. The planet’s positions show points in time where powerful events occur in the lives of that soul.
Going back before they were born, the 18th April 1906 was the last time the twins’ regressed Sun was conjunct their Mars, the time before that would be the year 1541.
“But it isn’t just that either.
This Sun/Mars past life connection occurs in both directions.
Their regressed Mars is exactly (an orb of 9 minutes) opposite their current life Sun.
This combination takes the odds up to over 3,000,000 to 1 against.”
The Sun by progression/regression covers just under 1 degree per year, Mars would take on average almost twice as long.
Just out of interest I have regressed the twins charts back 2000 years and at no other point did both these Sun/Mars regressions occur anywhere near the same time.
“On top of that their regressed Venus is exactly (orb 13 minutes) conjunct their Uranus.”
The odds against all this occurring by chance are off the scale.
“So we can say that either one of them or both of them were definitely there. The third possibility is that they were incarnated as one person back then who was there.
To find out what happened to them and whether either of them were your great grandmother we need to have a look at a horary timed for the moment you asked for a review.”
Readers who are familiar with my past life regression techniques will understand the use of horary in this context, but for the sake of those that aren’t here’s a piece form my article Is Horary A Method Of The Past?
“Horary is a quantum science. It represents our connection with the collective unconscious.
We choose to ask a question about something in our life that we don’t consciously know the answer to. But there is a part of us where we are at one with the collective unconscious mind which knows everything, including the very reasons why we have chosen to have this life experience in the first place.
So by asking a horary question, we are opening ourselves up to that connection with the natural great space in our chart. We are tapping into the part of ourselves that already knows the answers to our questions.
Through that space emanates the answer in coded astrological form. If the question is something that it is appropriate for us to have answered, the horary chart of that moment will precisely do that.
When you request a past life review, this is the astrological equivalent of going for past life regression hypnotism.
You are accessing the deeply subconscious part of your brain that knows what your past life experiences were.
A horary for that moment will reproduce these in astrological code. So the chart will describe your past life experience.”
Here is the horary chart for the twins review.
The first thing to point out is this chart has a late rising degree.
In a horary, this suggests that there is little life in the question, a fact that the querent on some level already knows.
In your message to me you suspected that if they were in San Francisco back then, they probably died in the quake.
So this chart is already pointing in that direction.
Another important indicator is that the Moon is the ruler of the 8th house of death and is separating from a close conjunction with Pluto.
But let’s look in more detail.
As the person asking the question you would be indicated by Jupiter, the chart ruler.
Jupiter in Cancer in the 8th house says that you are asking a question about family reincarnation.
Your twins would be signified by Mars as ruler of the 5th house of children.
Mars is in Scorpio which is fitting because they have that sign rising.
Mars being in a female sign could suggest that they were that sex in 1906.
However it’s also possibly suggesting that it was your daughter who was in San Francisco at the time of the earthquake.
The Moon is square to Mars, so she or they definitely died in the earthquake.
This obviously rules out them being your great grandma because she survived.
There are, however very powerful connections between your twins chart and hers.
She has Mars at 24 Gemini in square to Venus at 21 Pisces.
These placements were obviously being hit by Pluto’s transit to 21 Gemini at the time of the quake.
Transit Saturn was also at 11 Pisces, exactly conjunct her Moon.
Astrologically the reason she survived it would be related to the opposition between Uranus and Neptune, the planets that caused it.
Uranus fell exactly trine your great grandma’s Sun, Neptune was sextile it.
Her Mars is closely conjunct the Twins Mars.
Her Venus is closely conjunct their Neptune.
Their Moons are conjunct each other.
So there is a strong connection between them. What might it have been?
To look for your great grandma in the horary, your mother would be 4th ruler, grandma would be 7th (4th from 4th), great grandma would be 10th (4th from 7th).
As Virgo is on the cusp of the 10th, she is signified by Mercury, in Libra in the 11th.
This makes sense because Mercury is in exact square aspect to Jupiter (you), indicating the ancestral relationship between you.
It also makes me think that the horary placements are not revealing gender because if so, she would have been male.
On that basis I would venture to suggest that your twins’ reincarnation was not necessarily as a woman (Mars in Scorpio). It could be that this is indicating that it is your daughter who was in the earthquake back in 1906.
Both Mercury and Mars are in the 11th, so I’m thinking that your daughter was a friend of your great grandma in that life.
My principle of finding out when someone was born in a previous life involves looking at a solar regression to the 4th house ruler of the current life chart.
The twins’ 4th ruler is Uranus.
Their regressed Sun makes a conjunction with Uranus in November 1870, making them aged 35 at the time of the earthquake.
Great grandma, as we know was almost 28, so they could well have moved in similar circles.
If we look at the horary, Mars (twins) is in the 11th house.
The Moon/Pluto conjunction falls in the 2nd, which is the 4th from the 11th.
I think this is telling us that their home was destroyed and they died there, which given that it occurred in the early hours of the morning also makes perfect sense.
The birthchart for the Twins for this life is challenging.
The Sun is closely opposite Pluto and the Moon is conjunct it.
The Moon/Pluto in the 4th shows their house being destroyed in the earthquake.
The Uranus/Neptune opposition of 1906 falls on their Ascendant/Descendant axis.”
This knowledge that either one twin or both of them are reincarnations of someone who was a friend of their own great, great grandmother and who died in an earthquake that occurred in their own birth city 115 years before they were born, is fundamental to understanding who they are going to be in this life and the themes that they have chosen to experience this time round.
The logical follow on from past lives is that we carry with us themes that have been unresolved from the past, this is what pushes us to reincarnate.
So if your past life had been suddenly brought to an abrupt, totally unexpected and violent end, you would expect there to be some things that are still seeking resolution and that these themes would inevitably find ways of expressing themselves this time round.
We can see that the most prominent planet by some distance in the twins current life chart is the T Square apex and chart co ruler, Mars.
It is in the sign of the twins and the 8th house of death, inheritance and past life themes.
If we look for their great great grandma in this chart (4th from 4th from 4th from 4th is 1st house), it would be Pluto.
Her friend would be the 11th from the 1st so Mercury.
Mercury is in the 11th house of friends in exact trine aspect with Pluto, reminding us of the close connection that they had in their previous life.
Mercury is also part of the T square.
It is opposite Neptune in the 4th showing the earthquake and loss of their house and square to the apex Mars pointing to their death back then.
It will be fascinating for my client to watch how her children play out these themes as they go through their lives.
One thing for sure though, this knowledge of their past life experience will be an enormous help in her understanding of them.
As I said at the top of this article “The greatest gift that you can offer your kids is a good understanding of their natal charts.”
