Introduction to Astrology 8

A continuation of a collection of Facebook posts fro beginners.

I know I keep banging on about this but it’s aspects that are critical not signs.

The reason I have to keep reminding everyone of this simple fact is that you wont hear it anywhere else.

Also every chart is unique and this is not least because of it’s context within its own family group.

I can imagine a reader saying my Grandma has Saturn in the 10th. Do you mean that her old ultra conservative views will dominate the whole family?

No of course I don’t. Elizabeth Windsor is a very special case that should be treated as such, but having said that so is everyone else.

Grandma Lizzie from a council estate in Windsor might well have an elevated Saturn but she is very unlikely to wield the same kind of power with it.

Princess Margaret also has Saturn at the Midheaven with powerful aspects.

She has also experienced her personal life restricted by Saturn, but that does not mean the same thing as it does in Elizabeth’s chart.

Instantly the Sun sign sages would say that’s because Margaret’s Saturn is in Capricorn whereas Elizabeth’s is in Scorpio and come up with some absurd reasons why the differences between those two signs would explain their respective life experiences.

Which is of course total rubbish.

The differences are that Margaret’s Saturn is a member of a Grand Cross, its elevated position may make it the key member and it neatly describes the limitations put on her personal life.

The nature of a Grand Cross is that there are 4 different planets all pulling in challenging directions, creating a situation where it is very hard for the individual to pursue any particular one in their life because of the demands of the other three.

Margaret would want to be Venus in Libra in the 7th, but her desires in that direction were totally compromised by the aspects to her 1st house Uranus, her 4th house Jupiter and her 10th house Saturn.

Elizabeth’s elevated Saturn is at the apex of a T Square, indicating a very strong singular direction that she has to go in her life.

All of the energy of Liz’s chart is natural channelled towards it.

So you could say that Margaret is the victim of her elevated Saturn. She rails against it.

Elizabeth is the driver of her Saturn. She totally identifies with it.

Does all this mean that the Windsor family will continue to have strong themes in the 20s of Fixed signs and will still be dominated by Elizabeth’s Saturn?

I feel that since her death there is already a waning of the power of these patterns.

They weren’t particularly significant in the generation before Elizabeth and they aren’t in the charts of her great grandchildren.

My feeling is that this whole thing has been triggered by half of a Pluto cycle.

When Pluto hit these degrees of Leo in the early 1950s and she came to the throne, her apex Saturn began it’s period of domination.

When it reaches these degrees of Aquarius, by the late 2030s, I expect quite a few of her children will have passed on and it’s likely that the power of that placement will drift away with them.

This is how astrology actually works – through planets’ exact positions and their aspects with each other.

Signs, and even houses are secondary considerations.

Sun sign astrologers would say Charles had this complicated relationship with his mother because he was a Scorpio and she was the opposite sign Taurus.

And millions of their followers would sign up to their paywall because they wanted to know how a Pisces child would get on with a Virgo mother etc etc.

But this is complete and utter bullshit and absolutely not how astrology works.

Elizabeth’s apex Saturn at the Midheaven at 24 Scorpio had to be the seed placement for all the family patterns.

So Charles, for reasons presumably related to a previous incarnation, had to experience challenging themes with his mother this time round.

Therefore he had to be born with his Sun within a couple of degrees of that Saturn.

He also had to be born with his Moon in the same degree as her Sun.

These issues would also have to have a 4th house/10th house quality.

The Scorpio/Taurus theme is just an added bonus.

And that is basically how we should see astrology right from the start of our learning.

That aspects are key, houses are second and signs are an added bonus with a bit of character description thrown in for good measure.

For the next generation of Windsors, I feel this apex Saturn dominance theme will not be so strong.

It still is for Harry.

His Moon in Taurus in the 4th house is opposite Elizabeth’s Saturn, Charles Sun etc etc.

So it acts as an extremely strong drag on his life and constantly tries to pull him away from the direction that his life would naturally go in.

But it isn’t really for Meghan. The only connection that she has with these degrees is her Uranus at 26 Scorpio.

Which is fitting if you think about it because she has done that Uranian thing of completely ignoring and smashing through the boundaries set by Saturn and religiously observed by everyone else.

She has taken her husband with her in a tangential direction away from that limited worldview.

Elizabeth’s Saturn holds William as well.

William obviously has a strong connection with his grandmother.

His Jupiter at the Midheaven (0.29 Scorpio) is exactly opposite her own Sun (0.12 Taurus) and Charles (0.25 Taurus, 10th house) Moon.

His Jupiter is also exactly trine his Sun at 0 Cancer too.

So you can see that he was always destined to wear her crown.

Elizabeth’s Saturn (24.26 Scorpio) is exactly opposite William’s Venus (25.39 Taurus).

This Venus incidentally is in exactly the same place as Diana’s own Venus (24.23 Taurus in the 5th house).

Do you see how the exactness of these aspects work right through this family?

So how will that work out then?

Yes William’s Jupiter will put him on Elizabeth’s throne.

But his love life (Venus in the 5th house) will do as much to dismantle and disrupt Elizabeth’s Saturn legacy as his Diana’s own did.

William would also no doubt feel that Saturn thing as suffocating him in the same way that Diana obviously did.

But I think the chief theme going forward is likely to be different from the late Fixed sign, Saturn focus.

William’s chart is astonishingly similiar to Diana’s.

His Sun and Moon is conjunct her Sun and Mercury, even in the same house.

Their Venuses (as already mentioned) are only a degree apart.

They both have Sagittarius rising.

Diana has Mars, Uranus and Pluto within 13 degrees.

William has Mars, Saturn and Pluto within 14.

Diana has a 7th house Cancer Sun in aspect with Neptune.

So does William.

I feel that the chief theme going forward for the Merry House Of Windsor will probably be Sun/Moon afflictions.

William has the Sun conjunct the Moon in Cancer in his 7th house.

How is that an affliction you might reasonably ask?

After all his Sun is exactly trine Jupiter on the Midheaven.

It is an affliction because this Sun/Moon conjunction was actually an eclipse.

I cant think of any other examples of an eclipsed Sun and Moon in Cancer in the 7th house but if there are any, I would be willing to bet that their parents had an extremely difficult relationship and that the child would be somewhat scarred by that.

It is obvious that his parents’ relationship has had a massive impact on William’s whole life.

This would be so, even more than with Harry, because the younger brother has escaped while the older one still has to be the future king and almost pretend, in public at least, that it all never happened.

And this pressure given that his chart is so close to Diana’s?

And knowing that his own father, his step mother and his grandparents are responsible for creating the conditions which led to her tragic early death.

When William was born in 1982, astrologers were falling over themselves to say what a beautiful chart he had and how everything at the Palace was wonderful.

I was a thinking – “have you never heard of eclipses”.

Of course 10 years later we saw what that meant and another 5 years after that with Diana’s death, all those astrologers were pointing to this eclipse as the indicator of it from his perspective.

This I have found to be the case with most astrologers. Their hindsight is 20/20, foresight not so much.

But even once Diana’s tragic death had passed, they were all saying that was it, he can move on now.

And I’m thinking, he still has the eclipse and it’s in his 7th house of marriage….

But I often find myself wondering why other astrologers don’t see the things that instantly slap me in the face when I look at these charts.

The fact that William’s eclipsed Sun and Moon in Cancer is in his 7th house obviously means that the issues that he inherited and experienced through his parents’ marriage will continue to haunt his own.

Particularly when see Kate’s chart.

Eclipses occur twice a year. They also happen in pairs within a couple of weeks of each other, one solar and one lunar.

Kate was born almost 6 months before William which means yes, you’ve guessed it, another eclipse.

But it wasn’t a solar eclipse, this one was a lunar one, with the Moon in Cancer.

You can insert your own facepalm emojis here.

In fact Kate’s own eclipse was one of the nastiest I’ve ever seen with the Sun/Moon opposition very tight (half a degree) and forming a T Square with Saturn and Pluto.

Note that there is also a wider T square forming with the apex Mars in Libra too.

This is interesting as well because despite the nearly 6 months difference in their ages, at 10 Libra is only a degree away from William’s own Mars (which is also square his Sun and Moon).

So again we have serious afflictions between then Sun and Moon.

How does Kate’s pattern work out?

Her Sun is in Capricorn in the 5th house, so you can simply see her main driving theme is to build long term security and ambition (Capricorn) for her children (5th house).

How will that work out for her then?

Well if we look at her Sun’s aspects we have to say pretty badly.

The tight opposition with the Moon in Cancer seems to suggest that the chief threat to this theme comes from within her own family.

And with the Sun and Moon in that sign in the house of marriage, this would be pointing the finger fairly clearly in William’s direction.

The apex of Kate’s T square is the Saturn/Pluto conjunction in Libra in the 3rd house.

What can that possibly mean?

The 3rd house rules a number of things including short journeys, schools education, siblings and neighbours.

Libra is associated with relationships.

We know from William’s Venus in the 5th house, he is likely to be prone to having affairs.

So an affair with his driving instructor? Or one of the kids’ teacher? Or his own brother? Or a neighbour?

It’s possible that all of them have been tried, but I think we can fairly safely say that it was the last one.

This also gives context to Kate’s Moon in Cancer in the 11th as it is the house of “friends”.

Also the Saturn/Pluto connection sets up the very transits that will trigger Kate’s horrible T Square.

Between 2017 and 19, both Pluto and Saturn moving through Capricorn formed a conjunction with her Sun and opposition with her Moon.

This would have coincided with when she was pregnant with Louis.

People often ask me why I am “so mean” to William.

Maybe it’s because my own Sun is directly opposite his Moon and my own Moon is conjunct Kate’s Sun.

Or maybe it’s because I can see what is clear from the charts.

As I did back in 2019 when I wrote Don’t Kiss Me Kate

Several people have pointed out how repressed emotions in situations like Kate’s can lead to serious illness like cancer.

I think we can see this in her chart.

Planets near a house cusp can often be construed as belonging to the following one.

This is particularly the case if the cusp is one of the angles (1st, 4th, 7th or 10th).

Kate’s 5th house Sun is a less than 2 degrees away from the 6th house of health. Furthermore, it is conjunct the South Node which is in that house.

So you could argue that her Sun is 6th house rather than 5th. At the very least, it probably carries qualities of both of them.

Kate’s chart when read in this way would place the Moon in the 12th.

A lunar eclipse with the Sun in Capricorn in the 6th opposite the Moon in Cancer in the 12th, points powerfully to a diagnosis of cancer that has emotional causes and is kept hidden.

The apex of the 3rd house Saturn and Pluto is still there, but I think a very strong case can be made for the following.

William (Moon in Cancer) had an affair (opposite 5th house Sun) with her friend (Moon in 11th) who happened to be a neighbour (3rd house Saturn and Pluto).

He might even have had affairs with two separate neighbours (Saturn and Pluto).

This happened when transit Saturn and Pluto was conjunct her Sun.

This affair and her need to repress her responses to it (Sun in Capricorn) for the sake of the children (Sun in 5th house) had a detrimental effect on her health (Sun conjunct South Node in 6th house).

This was also kept quiet (Moon in the 12th) and only exposed when another eclipse occurred at 19 Aries, forming a Grand Cross with her T square.

This eclipse happened in April this year, when the whole cancer thing came out.

Would these afflicted Sun/Moon issues be carried on to the next generation?

Of course they would.

Prince George has an extremely difficult chart.

A tight Sun/Moon Cancer/Capricorn opposition forming a T Square with an apex Saturn is scarily familiar and a mirror image of Kate’s own.

Another T Square involving a Mars/Jupiter/Mercury conjunction in Cancer opposite Pluto is focused on a 4th house Uranus.

There is even a 3rd T Square involving Venus in Virgo opposite Neptune with an apex Scorpio Ascendant.

This means that every single planet and his Ascendant are involved in T Square formations.

This is an extremely unusual situation, the odds against it occurring at all are massive.

A very worrying aspect of these patterns is that they seem to be indicating the same kind of experience.

A stellium involving two T squares in Cancer in the 8th opposing the Moon and Pluto (8th sign ruler) with apex planets Saturn in the 8th sign and Uranus in the 4th house.

Another involving a planet in the 6th sign and with an apex Ascendant in the 8th sign.

All of this is suggesting the loss of a parent and that such a loss will have a catastrophic impact on his own life.

It is one of the toughest charts that I have seen.

Yet when he was born, all of the media astrologers were falling over each other to say how wonderful it was.

Which tells you all you need to know about media astrologers.

Obviously William and Kate, even with all their personal issues would want more than anything to keep this from their kids.

But that would have been impossible.

The transits of Pluto, as we know, play a massive role in all this.

Over the last year or two, transit Pluto has been conjunct George’s Moon and opposite his Sun, so he at least would have been made acutely aware of his mother’s predicament.

And this, given his age, would probably include knowledge of rumours about his father’s affairs as well as her health.

It’s likely that he will have been pressured to keep this knowledge away from his siblings too.

George’s Pluto transit to his Sun/Moon opposition is not over.

Pluto might currently be in Aquarius but it is heading back to the last degree of Capricorn, so it will be opposite his 8th house Sun for the remainder of this year.

It is also worth noting that the coming Full Moon sits exactly on George’s own Full Moon.

On his birthday.

So despite being paraded in front of the media for the football, you can absolutely guarantee that this soon to be 11 year old boy is going through absolute hell at the moment.

The challenges in George’s chart are no doubt reflected not only through the troubles in his parents’ lives but also by the fact that he carries the massive extra pressure of being heir to the throne.

In some ways this is similar to William’s predicament.

William’s chart is much tougher than his brother Harry’s.

Despite all of the problems he has experienced due to his own 8th house Sun and 4th house Moon opposite Saturn, Harry has more freedom to follow his own preferred direction than William.

William has to experience an eclipsed 7th house Sun.

George’s sister, Charlotte also has a very challenging chart.

Charlotte has two T squares.

Her Moon is opposite Uranus and focuses onto an apex 7th house Pluto.

This Pluto is conjunct Kate’s Sun and taps into all of her troubles.

Charlotte also has Mercury in the 12th house opposite Saturn in the 6th focusing on an apex Neptune in the 10th.

Given her Pluto and Saturn placements and aspects, its quite possible that her early life experience will contribute to marital and health problems of her own.

It goes without saying that these points were not made by the media astrologers at the time of her birth.

Prince Louis has a few challenges of his own.

Just the one T square here, his Cancer Ascendant opposite Pluto focused onto a 10th house apex Uranus.

However he does have a Mars/Saturn/Pluto combination uncannily like and closely square to those same planetary combinations in both his parents’ charts.

This combo is in his 6th house of health.

Louis also has a Sun/Moon square aspect, so again following this new Windsor theme of afflicted lights.

You might ask why this thread for beginners has taken such a gruesome direction?

Why am I obsessing around the charts of the Windsor family?

This is because despite all of their desperate attempts to control the media and keep all their shit quiet, their lives and charts are played out in a caricature fashion.

This is the thing with people in prominent places. Their chart features are given extra drama by the fact that everyone is watching them unfold.

So the Windsors are very good examples of lives that we have all followed and all have opinions about.

But I am also using them as examples because their actual lives are dominated by their aspect patterns.

Just like all the rest of us.

As I have said the media astrologers will fall over themselves to say nice things about any royal chart.

You might be tempted to believe they were court astrologers to Henry V111 and in fear of losing their heads if they said anything negative.

I have always been disgusted by horoscope columns.

If I even begun to describe my loathing for them here, this thread would never be finished.

But I can remember the exact day when I started to realise that I was way out of step with even the serious astrologers of the day.

It was over 40 years ago.

The general consensus was “what a perfect chart they have chosen”.

The Sun is dignified in Leo in the 10th, the Moon is dignified in Cancer on the Midheaven, Jupiter is rising.

The clever clogs even drew people’s attention to the fact that the Sun was conjunct Charles’ Leo Ascendant and the Moon was conjunct Diana’s Cancer Sun.

The perfect coming together of future king and queen.

And when you look at that chart, it’s hard not to disagree with them.

Except…..

For the fact that less than two days later…..

There was a solar eclipse in Leo right on the Ascendant in London.

And the Nodes were exactly on it, with the South Node on the Descendant.

I was living in London at the time, in Brixton during the notorious riots of that summer.

I felt that their wedding occurring on an eclipse was further evidence of the appalling state of Thatcher’s Britain and it was something that we would all be forced to regret big time.

This simple fact of the eclipse seemed to escape every astrologer that commented on Charles and Diana’s wedding (and believe me there were many).

The fact that William was born less than a year later on another solar eclipse and this fact was again completely ignored by every writer, whether frivolous or serious, convinced me that the astrological world was as mad as the political one.

Yet 11 years later when Charles and Diana’s separation confirmed my own forebodings, every astrologer and his/her dog were referencing this eclipse and nodding sagely about its impact.

But as I’ve already mentioned, astrologers’ hindsight and ability to deny what they said earlier is 20/20.

These days people say “the royal family are always having their events on eclipses”.

Charles even chose a lunar eclipse with the Moon on his own Sun for his coronation, probably sealing his cancer diagnosis.

But the fact that the Windsors are too lazy to get off their overpaid arses and ask a few peasants what they do in their quaint little lives unless there is an eclipse happening, is surely something that astrologers ought to flag up as an issue?

Apparently not.

The reason why I am including all this in a beginners astrology thread is to show everyone that for life events, aspects and transits are the key, not signs or even houses.

Eclipses are powerful aspect patterns.

If your astrology is limited by a focus on signs and even houses you are not going to get all this insight.

You would only see that William is a caring husband and father because he has the Sun and Moon in Cancer in the 7th house.

But this is the point.

The Sun, and to some extent the Moon’s placements by sign and house will tell you where and how that person wishes to direct their energies in their lifetime.

But its the aspects that will tell you how that will actually work out for them.

William would certainly have good Sun and Moon in Cancer in the 7th house intentions.

The eclipse would mean that those intentions would pave the way to hell for his wife and family.

So the moral of this story is that aspects are the most important thing there is.

If you want to live in some kind of astro/media Disney type fantasy theme park, stick with the signs and houses.

If you want to understand what is actually going on, study aspects first and foremost and then look at the transits to them.
