Does the fact that astrology works mean that the main events in our life are fated ?
This is a thorny question that would be answered in different ways by astrologers. In some cultures they might say yes that’s broadly true, in the west most would say it isn’t.
My take on it is that specific events are not fated but we are destined to experience events belonging to a certain symbolic range described by the transits of the time.
We do have some choice, particularly in the way that we respond to those events, and these would condition what happens to us next.
However the more we look into progressed soulmate synastry, the more that idea of choice is brought into question.
If we do really meet members of our soul group at particular times in our lives in order for them to help us with and through our experiences, how much of this is already planned in advance ?
If we had not met them at that point would our lives be significantly different or would we have had a similar experience either on our own or with someone else ?
One of my first memories of national events ( I was 8 years old at the time ) was the Assassination of John F Kennedy
It became a famous question. Do you remember where you were when you heard of this event ?
What if you were in the car at the time ?

We have seen in other articles that the key things to look for are planets in the 7th house and Venus.
Jackie Kennedy had Jupiter in the 7th, suggesting that she would marry someone wealthy.
This was such a thing that her early amores were ruled out on the grounds that they weren’t Jupiterean enough.
” While studying abroad in Paris, a young Jackie reportedly lost her virginity to John P Marquand Jr, the son of a French novelist, in an elevator. Her mother soon forbade Jackie from dating Marquand based on his family’s net worth.”
Sadly we don’t have a birthchart for Marquand but its likely that Jackie Bouvier’s first experience came when her progressed Sun was sextile her Venus and Venus square to her Uranus in 1946 – 47.
Next up was John Husted Jr when her progressed Sun was trine her Moon and Venus sextile her Mars in 1949 – 51.
” Bouvier’s mother Janet was initially pleased that the two began dating but soon became concerned that Husted did not make enough money to support her daughter and a family despite the fact that he was a stockbroker making $17,000 a year. Bouvier also had reservations about marrying Husted as they had little in common and she realized her feelings for him were not genuine. Bouvier reportedly told her friends that Husted was “immature and boring” and his work was too tame. Bouvier broke off the engagement in March 1952. “

Husted had Venus in Taurus conjunct Jackie’s Descendant opposing a Scorpio Moon on her Ascendant which accounts for the affair but the Moon’s conjunction with Saturn and the exact Venus / Neptune square as part of a Grand Cross meant way too poor and boring.
Her 7th house Jupiter in Gemini demanded rich and exciting.
Venus as 7th house ruler in the 8th house would want a significant financial upgrade through marriage. The only problem with that is you might get the other 8th house stuff as well.

JFK had a 5 planet stellium in the 8th including his Sun and ruler, Venus, suggesting that money, sex and death were all significant themes in his life.
His Venus is square to an 11th house Moon which perhaps links his own end to his political career.
His Sun is closely conjunct Jackie’s 7th house Jupiter.
His Venus is conjunct Jackie’s own and his Moon is conjunct her Mars.
His 7th house ruler, Mars is exactly conjunct her Descendant and North Node.
His Ascendant is closely square to her 8th house Pluto.
His Saturn is square to her Moon and widely conjunct her Sun.
So on that evidence it would seem that she did have to marry him.
In 1953 Jackie’s progressed Venus was conjunct her Pluto ( and square to John’s Ascendant ).

The Venus / Pluto theme continued in the chart for their wedding.
This is a timed chart so the Moon is in Scorpio as is the Ascendant, so Pluto as ruler is on the Midheaven placed right in the middle of a Mars / Venus conjunction ( 1st and 7th rulers ).
The Ascendant of the wedding chart is conjunct Jackie’s own and the Descendant is conjunct JFK’s Mars.
The Sun of the wedding chart is conjunct John’s Moon and Jackie’s Mars.
It is square to an 8th house Jupiter which is conjunct Jackie’s 8th house Venus.
The 12th house Saturn / Neptune conjunction is conjunct JFK’s Ascendant and opposite Jackie’s Moon.
By my way of reckoning this wedding chart contains at least ten references that point to death.
We can also progress the wedding chart.
Given the connections with the natal charts its fair to see Venus in this chart as representing the husband.
In 1960, when JFK was elected President, the wedding chart progressed Venus was conjunct that 10th house Pluto and sextile Jupiter.
In November 1963, when he was assassinated it was conjunct that Mars.
Next up was architect Jack Warnecke ” when she hired him to design JFK’s tomb. They discussed marriage, but one day, Jackie got a disturbing phone call from Warnecke.
“There’s something I have to tell you, I’m in a little trouble. I think I’m … I’m … $650,000 in debt.”
Jackie told Warnecke she was confident he would “figure things out,” sounding — as Warnecke would later recall it — “rather distant.” He closed by saying, “I love you, Jackie.” She simply whispered, “Goodbye, for now, Jack.”
Besides Jupiter being in her 7th Jackie had the North Node in Taurus there so she was destined to become richer through marriage.

While JFK’s 8th house Sun was conjunct her Jupiter and would naturally feed it, Warnecke’s 8th house South Node in the same degree would be a drain on her own financial resources.
Her progressed Sun was square to her Jupiter and Warnecke’s nodes between 1964 and 66 when this relationship occurred.
” In the years after her husband’s assassination, a heartbroken Jackie turned to one of JFK’s closest friends, former British ambassador David Ormsby-Gore, a.k.a. Lord Harlech, for comfort.
But Jackie wrote to Lord Harlech, revealing why she turned down his marriage proposal and decided to start her life anew with Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis.
“If ever I can find some healing and some comfort — it has to be with somebody who is not part of all my world of past and pain,” she said. “I can find that now — if the world will let us.”

An 11 years age gap meant that Jackie and Gore both had Jupiter in Gemini, his was conjunct her 8th house Venus so no money problems here.
However his South Node was exactly conjunct her Venus so despite them both having Mars in mid Virgo, it was not to be.
His Saturn / Neptune conjunct her Sun would have ruled it out anyway.
Jackie also had the progressed Sun quincunx Uranus at the time.
One interesting progression that occurred during the Autumn of 1963 was Jackie’s progressed Moon conjunct her Sun.
My feeling however is that this was not an indication of Jackie’s first husband’s death but of her first meeting with her second one a few weeks before that fateful day in Dallas.
Particularly as they married 5 years later when her progressed Venus conjoined her Sun.
Her progressed Mars was also trine her 7th house Jupiter.

It’s understandable that Jackie’s synastry with Ari was not as powerful as with John.
There was a 23 year age difference and many people observed that their marriage was more of a supportive friendship than a romantic encounter.
The fact that Ari’s Pisces Mars was opposite Jackie’s Mars and square to her Venus might add testimony to that.
But there was still a strong Venus / Pluto element to their relationship.
Jackie’s Venus was in the same degree of Gemini as Ari’s Pluto.
Ari’s Venus was opposite Jackie’s Pluto.
Less than seven years after the wedding Aristotle Onassis died. The Pluto theme continued as Jackie’s progressed Sun was sextile it in 1974 – 75.
Their wedding chart was extraordinary.

A seven planet stellium in Virgo / Libra including a Mars / Pluto conjunction and the Sun / Mercury opposite Saturn would have suggested some darkness.
Ari died as the wedding progressed Mars formed a quincunx to its Saturn.
These were Jackie Bouvier’s two marriages to Jupiterean type men as indicated by its placing in her 7th house.
Her third and final relationship was a Saturnian one.
She first met diamond merchant Maurice Tempelsman in the 1950s but their friendship became a romance in 1980 when Jackie’s progressed Sun was square her Saturn.

Tempelsman had a Venus / Pluto conjunction.
His Venus was exactly quincunx Saturn which tied into Jackie’s own Venus / Saturn opposition.
His Venus was also square to her Moon.
The connections were not as in your face as her synastry with her two husbands but this relationship had a more Saturnian quality and they remained together until Jackie died in 1994.
So who was Jackie Bouvier’s true soulmate ?
Was she Jackie K, Jackie O or even Jackie T ?
In most cases you would take the progressed Venus conjunct Sun Mrs Onassis as the guide, but maybe it’s not as simple as that. Perhaps each one came in to help her experience the quality of the planet being connected by the progression at the time.
John F Kennedy would provide the Venus conjunct an 8th house Pluto death experience.
Aristotle Onassis for the Venus conjunct a 9th house Leo Sun rich foreigner role.
Maurice Tempelsman for a Sun square a 2nd house Saturn drama free and secure old age.
What was it all for anyway ?
Why did Jackie Bouvier / Kennedy / Onassis / Tempelsman choose to have these experiences.
With Jupiter in the 7th and the North Node in Taurus on the Descendant she would obviously have to marry a succession of wealthy, powerful men.
But maybe with Venus in the 8th house opposite Saturn in the 2nd it was all just to learn that in the end, you can’t take it with you.
