For the last century, science has been in a quandary.
It has worshipped at the altar of cause and effect for millennia, but the recent discoveries in the field of quantum physics has thrown all of that onto the scrapheap.
If anything Astrology is now a better and more reliable tool for understanding reality than so called science.
But even in Astrology we have the same problem.
The basic principle of our subject is “anything born or begun at a moment in time will carry with it the qualities of that moment.
We can see cause and effect coming from the natal chart. Someone’s life is largely predictable as an inevitable consequence of a chart describing the symbolic energies of that moment and the planetary transits to it.
If for example someone has a 10th house Sun, we would expect them to gain some kind of promotion when transit Jupiter is conjunct it or to encounter difficulties when Saturn does the same.
These are naturally repeating regular cycles and their predictable experience could be seen as a cause and effect pattern.
But it’s often the case that the biggest and most profound life changing experiences fall outside these cyclical patterns.
This is particularly so in the field of relationships.
With our families we can see cause and effect. We are born into a situation with parents and siblings and our relationships with them would be described by many things in our charts, not least our Moon and 4th house placements.
Transits to them, particularly those of Uranus and Pluto can trigger separation and a need for us to leave and gain our independence from them.
Again this is astrologically predictable from birth and can be seen as all part of the natural cycles of those relationships.
But the most important connection of our whole life can appear out of nothing. There is no obvious cause to this effect, the other person simply materialises out of nowhere.
This is often the case when someone first meets their soulmate. There is no sense that they were looking for them, they didn’t even know they existed. But when they make an appearance it is as if it was somehow inevitable.
Just over a year ago, I was contacted by J.

J is a successful career woman.
This much is evident from the Virgo Sun at the Midheaven in close trine with an exact Uranus/Neptune conjunction in the 2nd house and a dignified Mercury in the 10th in trine with a Taurus Moon in the 6th house.
Her question however was not about business. She had been in a number of relationships but nothing that settled for long and no-one that had really resonated with her as a potential soulmate.
“I would definitely like to know when my person will be coming in? Where would we meet? And if you can see when?’
I was able to answer that question simply and with great confidence.
I was able to tell her that this man would make an appearance very soon, within the next 3 months and it is likely that he will come from abroad.
J contacted me again last week to say that she met him just over two months after our consult.
Their meeting appeared to be entirely accidental. J’s friend wanted to go to a bar in LA that played country music, somewhere that J had never been to before and the kind of place that she would not normally go to.
This man was from Australia and on holiday, he was also taken to the bar by a friend.
J and this man met and have been in a relationship ever since.
How was I able to predict this meeting?
Through quantum astrology.
I have written about this in many articles over the last few years.
Transiting cycles of planets are regular and predictable and describe those energetic events in our lives that can be seen as cause and effect.
Secondary progressions are to do with people from our soul group emerging exactly when they are meant to.
In the piece Don’t Leave Your Astro Stuck In Second Gere I ask you to look at the birthchart in a very different way.
“I want you to ignore the placements and focus on the space behind them.
Because it is this space that represents the whole, the Universe, the totality of everything that exists and even that doesn’t exist.
We believe that we are separate from this space because of our life’s identification with the actual placements in our chart, but our true self, our soul or our essence exists in and is inseparable from this space.
It is from this space that we emerged when we were born and back to this space that we retreat to when we die.
After some time/no time at all, because time does not exist there, something of us emerges again with another pattern of placements in the same way that it has done many, many times before.
So just for this moment try looking at your chart, but imagine the placements gradually disappearing into that space and see it as an empty chart, as it was before you were born.
Then see the moment of your birth with these placements emerging as tiny circles within this space.
Now let’s think about your progressions.
If we live to the age of 90, the Sun will move on average a degree per year (one day equals one year by progression), so will only form one major aspect (conjunction, opposition or square) to each of our placements in our lifetime.
So our progressed Sun will give us one soul related trigger for each placement in our lifetime.
Imagine that at the point in your life when your progressed Sun forms an aspect to a placement a light comes on in its tiny circle.”
You are actually carrying this progression light around with you but it can only be seen by one other person, the one who comes from your soul group and is meant to appear in your life at that moment.
So if we look at again at J’s chart we can clearly see when this light comes on.

If J lives to the age of 90, her progressed Sun will move to the middle of Sagittarius in her 1st house.
So over the course of her lifetime, her progressed Sun will make conjunctions with Mercury, Jupiter, Mars and Pluto.
The one with Mercury would have happened at the age of 8, with Pluto at 58 so we can probably discount them.
That leaves us with the progressed Sun’s conjunction with Jupiter, her ruling planet occurring in the middle of 2025 and with Mars, about 9 months later.
This was J’s progressions for the moment that she met him.

J’s natal Jupiter is 16.28 Libra, her progressed Sun was at 16.25 of that sign.
The odds of this occurring by chance are about 1,000 to 1 against.
There are additional features that back up this soulmate appearance.
For the year since this meeting, J’s progressed Venus is conjunct her Mercury, her 7th house ruler.
My prediction was also confirmed by that other major instrument of quantum astrology, the horary chart.
In another article Horary – A Meeting Place Of Art And Quantum Science I write
“We may believe we understand our birth charts and the transits to them, so we know all there is to know about the subject, at least in the way it relates to us.
This is a grave misapprehension. We are missing the most valuable and spiritual component of the subject.
Through horary astrology, we can receive an instant download into our brains from the vertical dimension.
Through even the most mundane questions that rise in our brain, we are able to access the essence of the moment, to perceive reality as it truly is, just as those very questions are answered.
With horary, we are opening ourselves up to the language of the Universe. The more often we use it, the more clearly it speaks to us and the greater the rewards are.”
This is the horary chart cast for the moment of J’s question.

Even a horary novice should be able to clearly see the answer to J’s question.
As Libra is rising, she is ruled by Venus.
Venus is at 15 Aries.
This question about a soulmate is a 7th house one.
The 7th house ruler is Mars at 15.25 Leo.
Venus applies to a very close trine with Mars which is as good as you can get in terms of an affirmative answer.
This man will be coming into her life very soon.
The fact that Mars is in Leo in the 11th house would suggest that they would meet in a leisure club.
Another tool that I’ve discovered in quantum astrology is the soulmate emergence chart.
This chart is someone’s progressions to the birth moment of their other half.
If that person is older than them it would be reverse progressions, or regressions.
An extraordinary extension of this is the realisation that our birthchart is not only relevant to our developing life, but it is also powerfully connected with our past, even before we were born.
As J’s man is older than her it would be a regression, but as he is only a year older than her the only planet that can make a significant regressed movement is the Moon.
This is J’s regressed chart for the moment of his birth.

As you can see, J’s Moon has regressed to 14.07 Taurus in exact trine with her Sun.
The Moon here turns J’s Sun/Uranus/Neptune trine into a Grand Trine.
It’s also interesting that J’s Mars/Jupiter conjunction, the placement that was triggered by her progressions when they met, becomes much tighter.
Her regressed Mars is within 5 minutes of her natal Jupiter.
This regressed chart is indicating that someone born at this moment in this place would complete J, even though it occurred before she was born and they wouldn’t meet up for another 33 years.
When it comes to the meeting of soul mates, nothing is left to chance.
And if you use quantum astrology, you can see it as clear as day.
