No Other Than The Mother Is Our Song

If you are reading these articles it’s a fair bet that you’re convinced that astrology works. If you aren’t, you just haven’t read enough of them.

You probably have a fair understanding of your own birthchart and know that it is a good symbolic representation of you and your life.

It’s also likely that you accept to some degree that you, as a soul, have chosen this birth moment, this chart and the life circumstances that you were born into, even if you don’t quite know why you have chosen them.

For astrology to work at all, we must have chosen our parents at least, it is no accident that we come from them. Many of the chart patterns that we have are connected to theirs, in some cases very strongly.

This is particularly the case with our Mums. We know that the Moon in our chart represents the feminine/maternal principle and its sign, house and aspects can tell us a lot about our relationship with our mothers and the way that this conditions our life patterns.

We can look further to check our synastry with our mother’s chart to check the themes that we share and to help us understand this powerful family dynamic.

We can also use composite charts that describe the relationship that any two people might have.

My research over the last few years has revealed that Secondary Progressions are about the appearance of important people in our life, those who we would consider members of our soul group.

I extended this discovery to find that it was possible to see when we last met up with them in our previous lives. This enabled me to develop a sophisticated system for detailing past life experiences based on Secondary Regressions to our current natal chart.

While working with these methods I have come up with a method that for now I call the Progressed Relationship chart.

To use this method you would progress or regress (if they were older than you) your own chart to the birthdate of the other person.

This chart reveals the important themes in your natal chart that are triggered and emphasised by your relationship with this person.

In my experience this method actually reveals more pertinent information than the commonly used composite chart methods.

The only problem with it is that progressions/regressions are a relatively slowly developing method, so when comparing charts of people of the same age it is difficult to get clear distinctions from the natal charts themselves.

However, if we are talking about a generational relationship like a parent/child one, it is extraordinarily powerful and on point.

I was reflecting on this on my own late mother’s 98th birthday and I had the idea to apply it to our relationship.

The two most important aspect patterns in my chart a Venus/Saturn 10th house conjunction and a tight T Square involving the Ascendant (28 Capricorn) opposite a Jupiter/Uranus (26-27 Cancer) conjunction (7th house) and an apex Neptune (27 Libra – 9th house) with a quincunx to Pluto (26 Leo also 7th house).

Many of these qualities involve a strong, puritanical work ethic and a powerful religious/spiritual theme, which I felt I had inherited/been conditioned into by my own mother.

As a young person, I mostly resented this inheritance, but once I discovered astrology and recognised my life path and realised that I had chosen it and therefore also her as a mother, I became extremely grateful for it.

Regressing my chart back to her birthdate (26 years before my own) I found the Venus/Saturn conjunction was exact (within 1/3 degree).

My regressed Moon was at 26.55 Capricorn, smack in the middle of my T square.

My regressed Mars was at 26.56 Aquarius, exactly opposite my Pluto and exactly conjunct her Moon at 26.54 Aquarius.

The odds of this kind of thing happening by chance is hundreds of thousands to one against.

I have a client who has a Moon/Saturn conjunction in Aries in her 4th house. She has had a difficult, challenging relationship with her mother who has Mars in Aries in the same degree as the daughter’s Saturn.

Regressing her chart back to her mother’s birthdate results produces a Mars/Saturn conjunction in Aries, exact to the minute.

Again the odds of this occurring by chance are many thousands to one against.

I have written extensively about the Progressed/Regressed Relationship Chart with examples in many recent articles. Here is one for King Charles and his mother Queen Elizabeth – The Instantaneous Acceleration of X and Y. I will quote from this piece.

“I have written about the astrology of King Charles many times but now I was able to see it in a new light.

Charles’ Sun is part of a 4th house stellium, so family themes are the main focus of his life.

His chart is dominated by the 10th house Moon.

The Moon rules the mother. Charles Moon is at 0.25 Taurus.

His Mum’s Sun is at 0.12 Taurus. The odds against that kind of synastry occurring by chance are over 800/1 against.

This is stunningly simple kindergarten astrology.

Charles Moon is in the 10th house of career.

Elizabeth dominates his life and stands in the way of his career goal, so much that he wouldn’t even get a job until he was 74 years old.

When Charles did finally get to be crowned, after her death, transit Pluto had stationed at 0.22 Aquarius, exactly square to his Moon and her Sun.

Elizabeth also has a planet at the top of her chart that dominates the rest. This is Saturn conjunct her Midheaven at the apex of a T square.

So her career is dominated by her sense of duty and responsibility.

Saturn is the principle of limitation. At 24 Scorpio, Elizabeth’s apex Saturn falls right on Charles’ Sun at 22 Scorpio.

You could see Elizabeth’s 70 year reign being driven by a strong desire to stop Charles from getting the job.

Clearly these two had some issues.

This is all documented and I have written about it many times. But what I have just discovered is the extent to which this relationship is karmically driven.

If we progress Elizabeth’s chart to when her son was born.

That T square becomes a Grand Cross.

On 14th November 1948 (when Charles was born) her progressed Sun was exactly (3 minutes orb) square her natal Neptune, and square her Jupiter ( 1/2 degree). It is opposite her Saturn.

Now let’s stop at this point and have a think about this.

Readers of astrology articles are used to ploughing through pages of “this means that and that means this”. Many writers will use long paragraphs packed full of such references, so it’s very easy to skip over them without really processing what we are reading.

But when we are talking about progressions we have to stop and see this moment in terms of a whole lifetime or indeed several lifetimes.

If we look again at Elizabeth’s chart we can see that between her Sun on the 3rd house cusp and her Pluto in the 6th there is nothing at all.

So she would experience no Solar Progressed conjunctions until she was in her 70s.

In fact she would not have a progression anywhere near as powerful as this one unless she’d lived to be 110 years old.

When she was crowned, 5 years later her progressed Venus was square her Pluto and trine her Moon but this is nowhere near comparable.

So why should by far the most powerful progression of her life coincide with the birth of her oldest son?

This is because progressions are not specifically related to events in this life, they are geared to connections being remade with important members of our soul group who have been with us for many lifetimes and have chosen to play a particular role this time round.

Not convinced? Then how about this?

When Charles was born, Elizabeth’s progressed Sun was at 22.05 Taurus, exactly (1/3 degree orb) opposite Charles own Sun, a chance occurrence of over 500/1 against.

No doubt other astrologers have pointed to this progressed connection between mother and son.

But I seriously doubt if anyone has looked at it the other way round.

If we take Charles’ chart back 22.5 years before he was born, to when his mother entered this world, his regressed Sun is exactly opposite his own Moon and therefore also opposite her Sun (with an orb of less than 1/2 degree).

So Charles has exactly the same progressed aspect for Elizabeth’s birth as she had for his one.

Which is bizarre.

But not only that, their progressed/regressed Moon’s do the same thing.

Elizabeth’s progressed Moon for Charles’ birth is at 13 Gemini, sextile her natal Moon at 12 Leo.

Charles regressed Moon for Elizabeth’s birth is at 1 Cancer, sextile his natal Moon at 0 Taurus.

Elizabeth’s progressed Mercury for Charles birth is at 0 Taurus, exactly (orb of 5 minutes) conjunct her Sun and Charles Moon.

Charles regressed Mercury for Elizabeth’s birth is at 22 Libra exactly trine Elizabeth’s Jupiter and sextile her Neptune.

The odds against all this happening by chance are off the scale.”

There are of course so many different relationships that people have with their own mothers, but what about an extremely violent one?

An article I wrote last year contains a powerful example – Carnage at Maccas – I will quote from it here.

“Gerald McCra Jr was age 15 when he shot and killed both his parents and younger sister. There had been violent incidents before but on Oct 9th1993 whilst he was having an argument with his mother, something in Gerald snapped and he shot her and then the whole family one at a time.

Gerald Jr’s chart is a very difficult one.  Sun Taurus, Moon Scorpio, Leo with Mars rising gives tremendous intensity and physical strength, but any potential problems in the chart are severely increased by the exactness of many of the aspects.

The Sun is 1 degree from an exact square to Mars, which could certainly account for an aggressive nature. Mercury is exactly opposite Pluto to within 4 minutes and this opposition is within 20 minutes of the 4th – 10th house cusps showing considerable verbal explosiveness and the strong likelihood that this would be expressed within the family.

An extremely difficult Moon in Scorpio in the 5th is opposite Venus and T-Squared to an apex Saturn – both Moon and Saturn are at 23 deg 39 min. So we have extreme difficulties in relationships with women in the family and the mother in particular.  The intensity of this aspect is quite enough to make him attack his mother.

Merle McCra, his mother also has a very difficult chart.  Her Moon is in Scorpio at 22 deg 46 within a degree of her son’s Moon, but it is also exactly conjunct the 8th house cusp of death by 12 minutes. The Moon is part of a very difficult T- Square opposite Mercury and square Pluto.

This T Square is the clearest astrological example of a murder victim imaginable. The 8th house and particularly its cusp is traditionally linked with death and the fifth rules children so this combination points to Merle being killed her son.

One problem with having their Moon’s so close together would be that any passing transits would trigger them all at the same time and since the charts are very difficult anyway, the results would be horrendous.

The one that would cause by far the most havoc would be Pluto to conjunct these Moons.

Pluto is the ruler of Scorpio and is the focal T Square point for Merle and bang on the 4th house cusp for Gerald Jr.

Pluto would only make one such contact in their lifetimes, unfortunately it would only need one.

On 9th Oct 1993 Pluto was at 23.57 Scorpio, exactly conjunct the Moons of Gerald Jr and Merle.

Transit Saturn at 23.55 Aquarius was exactly square to all these placements too.

This terrible tale is the result of the coming together of two of the most difficult charts that Capricorn Research has ever seen. The tragic results of Pluto’s transit were sadly predictable.

One major problem for human beings in the 21st century is that we are so used to receiving vast amounts of information that we never really fully process any of it. It passes across our consciousness and our brains just look for something else.

The astrological accuracy and intensity of the above story is so staggering that it literally should blow our minds and we would be incapable of seeing anything in the same way again.

The conventional world view should be immediately assigned to the rubbish bin.

I have over 1,000 articles on this site chronicling this level of astrological exactitude, yet just like all those others, this one will only be read by a few souls who have become used to it.

It means that Gerald McCra Jr was always going to murder his whole family, it wasn’t just some tragedy that built over the years due to teenage frustration and was triggered by an argument with his Mum.

It was evident and predictable from the moment of his birth.

In fact it was entirely predictable from the moment of his mother’s birth.

More than that, it was prearranged as part of a soul contract between the four of them.

How can we know that? Because we can astrologically regress Gerald Jr.

His mother, Merle was born 21 years before him, but the moment of her birth announced the emergence into this life of the soul who he would murder 36 years later.

First a reminder of Gerald Jr’s Natal chart.

There are so many indications of the murders in Gerald Jr’s chart but the standout aspect would surely be the Moon at 23.38 Scorpio square to Saturn at 23.39 Leo.

This is particularly evident given his mother and daughter’s Moon positions within a degree of his own.

If we regress Gerald’s chart back to his Mum’s birthdate we get this.

Regressing back from his birth, this is the first time his Moon would have made the opposition to Saturn, and here it is exactly triggered.

The odds of this lunar regression alone occurring by chance are over 200/1 against.

Gerald’s regressed Sun is also a mere degree away from opposition to his natal Mercury/Pluto opposition.

His regressed Ascendant forms an T Square with this pattern. We are now in the tens of thousands to one against territory.

If we apply the same principle to Merle’s chart.

The key pattern indicating being murdered by her son is the T square Moon in Scorpio in the 8th house opposite Mercury apex Pluto in the 5th.

Progressing it forward to her son’s birthdate we get this.

Merle’s progressed Moon is again in the T square, exactly square to her natal Moon and in the 5th house conjunct Pluto.

Remember this progressed/regressed connection existed 21 years before Gerald was born.

Interestingly Gerald and Merle’s composite chart covers some of the same themes.

Composite charts are midpoints in space. They are created by taking a point for each planet midway between each person’s own placements.

As both Gerald and his mother have the Moon in the same degree of Scorpio, the composite Moon would be there as well.

But it’s fascinating that the composite Neptune is in the same degree too.

Also the composite Sun is at 26 Taurus opposite this pairing from the 12th house to the 6th.

From this chart you wouldn’t assume that Gerald would murder Merle but you would believe that this is not a healthy relationship, one that has serious hidden challenges.

There is another similar method called the Relationship chart that was popularised by Ronald Davison in the middle of last century.

Relationship charts are midpoints in time rather than space. They are created from a date exactly half way between each person’s birthdate.

These methods are distinctly different from each other and there is absolutely no reason why they should produce similar results, but they often do, particularly if there are powerful dramatic shared themes between the two people.

As you can see the Sun/Moon opposition falls in the same signs and house, but is reversed.

The Sun in the relationship chart is in the same degree as the Moon in the natal charts of both Gerald and Merle and the composite chart.

My feeling is that both composite and relationship charts indicate serious problems in the relationship between mother and son, but it is the natal synastry together with the progressed relationship charts of both of them and the Pluto transits that indicate the matricide.

And if it is this clear from regressing Gerald’s chart to Merle’s birthdate, it seems that this outcome was already fated 21 years before he was even born.

So for whatever reason, these two souls clearly made a contract to become murderer and victim.

The relationship between a child and their mother is the most powerful one of all, it more than any other will be tied to our natal chart themes.

By regressing our chart to the date and time that our mother was born, we can clearly see which of our life themes will be pronounced and conditioned by this relationship.

We could say that our connection with our mother is theme music for our lives.

By looking at the regressed relationship chart we can see whether this would be Handel’s coronation anthem, Zadok the Priest or Chopin’s Funeral March.

If you would like to look into your synastry with your own mother (or anyone else) to find out what song you are both singing whether in harmony or discord, why not book a Dynastry reading.
